All of it came in getting rid of Sega logo? I wouldn't call it an improvement at all.

An addicting (for my simple mind) little platform-puzzle. http://suklaalevy.webs.com/files/Docomodake-wip1.rar Played on DeSmuME 0.9.4+ Should I continue?

I'm having a little problem with crystal bonus at the end of Alien level. I suppose there's an amount you can collect without delay of ending fade (40-60). Then there's also an amount where the game starts to count down crystals two at a time (140-160). Now I have to check the correct amounts and adjust my run accordingly to collect either least possible amount with perhaps some frames lost or collect the exact amount where game begins to count two at a time.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1506757464/Mega_Turrican-3done-v1.gmv I'm pretty satisfied how fast bosses in stage 3 could be destroyed. Last boss could be done 2 frames faster with mine techinque I was now using, but I'd like to destroy it even faster. Memory address changes: Flying bot 1 (5:36) - 00FFC4D7 Flying bot 2 (6:43) - 00FFC7BF

Smasher has 350 hp with multishot and no missiles. It has only 170 hp with laser and missiles. Using laser is 90 frames faster when bomb is used. But I'll have to use the bomb in first flying bot, it's the biggest timesaver I can think of for this "leftover" bomb. For next four bombs I'll get finishing stages, I found only one place where it saves considerable amount of time, so we have 3 left for last stage (1 for Terminator and 2 for final boss)

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1272380433/Mega_Turrican_3-half.gmv Taking damage looks sloppy but it's the only way to die fast in Fist miniboss. Hulk get pwned pretty badly :D I have to test if I'm taking the missed missile (5:57) with me. As sonikkustar said, bosses have 8 health less when you battle them without missile, but I still believe it's slightly faster to go with missile. And for the weapons, sonikkustar, laser does 3 damage while multishot has the possibility to hit six times. Sure there are times when you can only get 2 or 4 hits from multishot but it hits more often and is lethal at close range.

I noticed the use of bombs in first boss too, but thanks for pointing it out. I'll test different weapons, but I'm quite sceptical if they really kill bosses faster :)

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1941605839/Mega_Turrican-stage2.gmv At 13770 I get a little stuck and lose 5 frames. However, when I tried to fix it I couldn't get pushed to right from a small jelly at 14700 and lost lots of frames. Octopus: 00FF3E78 and 00FF3E79. I finished it off faster smashing the button than trying to do it "precisely" :O I'll improve this fight a little more. Horizontal screen number(?) address: 00FFDFD4 --------------------------------- Complete test: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1282479888/Mega%20Turrican_test5.gmv Stage 3 00FF03A9 Fist (5:18) Hulk (6:12) Smasher (7:12) Grabber (8:02) Flying bot 1 (5:53) - 00FFC0F7 Flying bot 2 (7:45) - 00FFCB23 ------------- Stage 4 Alien head (12:30) - 00FF1783 Alien (14:00) - 00FF15E3 ------------- Stage 5 Wheel bots (15:07) - 00FFC1EF, 00FFC26B 00FF0098 Terminator (16:21) Evil Machine head (16:47) Final boss (17:11) - 00FF00A5 I think bombs from Alien head should be spared to Wheel bots (15:07). I'll probably suicide in Octopus at the same time it explodes to reload bombs and use them in Hulk (6:12).

I found only Octopus's hp. A lot harder to find other addresses compared to all other Genesis games. Didn't find any in Uni-Sol either. What's up with Turricans? It seems I'm not dying at all in second stage. First part takes some time to do, but swimming part and boss battle are quite easy.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1318603237/Mega_Turrican_s1_v3.gmv I think dying in first boss benefits more than dying in second boss. Octopus takes only one damage from explosion/bomb so I don't plan to die there.

Last test before final version of stage 1: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/952905309/Mega_Turrican_1-finaltest.gmv Where do you think I should use last 6 of rolling power? Your ball gauge has been of tremendous help, now I have hard time spending it optimally :) Miniboss is probably not yet perfect. At 3500 I could perhaps time my jump better and roll off the platform before it rises higher. After big elevator (5800) could be a place to roll.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/932033180/Mega_Turrican.gmv What do you think about dying twice to reload explosions? I don't know if I had maximum firepower because destroying bubble enemies or bubbles was tough job. I'll start from the beginning next. Stages 3-5 seem to be pretty straightforward according to YouTube videos.

I tested it briefly but I thought it would be slower because you will bounce upwards from those enemies. And that test run was made mostly not in precise manner. I think I'll test whole game before optimizing, but your moviefiles would be helpful if you use different strategies as I do.

Aww, Sonikkustar you should've completed stage 1. I did my testrun without watching your attempt and it was nice to see different tactics. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/220188237/Mega_Turrican.gmv

You can manipulate Mushroom rolls entering the lair in different frames if you don't get weapon drops. Difficulty is how to manipulate Mushroom rolls and get the flame whirl at the same time. I have to test if it's the time when you get a weapon drop in pevious level (Cactus boss) that manipulates next level's weapon drops and the rolls of the Mushroom. Flame whirl's drop frequency dropped quite dramatically when I improved Cactus boss. In this run it was the 7th drop and in improved run it's 24th drop. I had to annihilate almost entire village but it didn't slow me down. It will take lot longer than I first thought, but luckily the Mushroom is the only difficult obstacle here.

64 frames. But it changed the order of weapon drops. I have to redo all three final levels, so I will either gain or lose some frames because of different weapons. Cancelling and submitting again in few days.

AndyD: No, with 8 or less health bars the wait time is equally long. While watching NitroGenesis' DM-stream I realized being too careless with weapon drop before Cactus boss. When I have fixed it, should I send the new file to a editor/publisher or create a new submission?

Amazing how smoothly bosses went down. I was surprised to see how late in the game Slade got promoted. Favourite battles: Chess board and Tower. And basically all other boss snipings.

Nearly two weeks' break from TASing and now I'm again motivated to finish this run. Eight levels done, 13,66 seconds faster than WIP3: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1588840424/Marko-WIP5.gmv
