Hey guys, I need some help doing a "toggle" key. I'm doing a two-player simultaenous run of Shadow of the Ninja, and I find it frustrating to let go of keys and lose precious frames so I can move the other character so he/she doesn't lag behind. Someone told me that FCEU has a toggle-key feature, but I can't find it. Help?

Not really sure if anyone in this forum cares, but I felt it was my responsibility to say it. I will no longer be able to visit this forum, nor will I be able to finish any of my projects. Recent life issues (some family ones too) have made me uncapable of finishing them, and I also will not have the time or resources to work on them. I'm very sorry to all the people that were expecting work from me (like DarkPlayer and samurai goroh) and I hope someone can do a better job than I would have done. I've really enjoyed the five months I've been here, and I'm glad to have meet all of you, especially the ones that have made me inspired to work again (Thanks Nrg, Dacicus, Atma, adel, Bolt, Kyrs, shin, walker, and vatch!) ever after failing several times in StarFox. I'm also glad to meet the ones that have made me laugh a lot in IRC (miAu, BoMF, and FODA), and all the people that have supported me in my endeavours here. I may return sometime, but it's not definite.

Agreed. Well done, I have no idea what you did. ^^' YES vote.

Apparently no one's trying for it anymore, so I'm going to take up a two-player simultaneous run. Normally, I wouldn't undertake this project as I'm already busy with StarFox, but this is a school-only project (I have some free time) I think this will be "interesting" to do. So... any thoughts on this? Two player seems a bit hard, as I can't optimize moment since there are frames where I am forced to take my fingers off jump/attack for one player..... unless, I bind one key for all four actions, which would get pretty hectic. In any case, I think two jump-attacks per jump is relatively good, though I've noticed that the girl ninja seems to move a wee bit slower. As for my run so far, I'm close to the first boss, but I'm contemplating the use of shurikens as it will be more "visually pleasing" to see everyone get blown up rather than just jumped over. Again, thoughts on this are greatly appreciated. =) Hopefully I can upload a WIP sometime this week...

I feel the same for this one, though I don't think it'll be much sense in TASing SSB. This game is really good at realtime playing.
Actually, SSB already has a submission though there's no attempt to see if it's being published yet. =/ There's also a Castlevania run too, but again, not much voting is done. =/

Alright, here is the run so far! I am now currently holding a +5 lead on the emulator run, guaranteeing a "perfect" 328 score. However, I will probably get an extra hit squeezed in on the next two bots, and some other stuff along the way. I should be able to finish Corneria within this week, so expect a WIP of the completed world in 3-4 days tops. Also, I need input on whether or not I should barrel roll when Peppy tells me to, or just take them all out early on. If I take them all out early, I can attack the bots at the earliest possible moment, which is -VERY- needed.. Kanpai! ^^ Edit: The game is now fixed so my lead is restored to a +5. Improved route (well, not improved, just looks cooler) after the checkpoint.

Sorry, I was apparently misunderstood. I meant which game was to believed to be the next one COMPLETED. (I said published because I doubt a N64 TAS would be rejected since we only have one) Sorry for excluding Castlevania, the last post I saw on that thread was back in January, so I assumed all work on it stopped. Fixed.

Since the creation of this site, there have been many NES games TAS'd and many games for other consoles as well. At the moment, there is at least 5 movies for each category, with NES and SNES being the largest sections. The newer sections like GBA and hacked demos have at least 6. However, N64 only has 1. The N64 emulator was released (albeit with some bugs) around October of '05, and in half a year, only 1 movie has been completed so far (let alone being published) and that would be the 16 minute run of Super Mario 64 by Spezzafer. Now, this topic isn't to say N64 TAS'ers suck at it (They don't, me being one of them, I know it's hard) but to sort of ask why there isn't more "effort" in it. I'm sort of new to this community, so I guess I'm curious as to why N64 games take longer than NES or Genesis games. Anyhow, the point of this topic is to ask what game will be next to publish. Have fun voting! And do add any input you know about the progress of that game ^^) And I'll just edit this, since I'm not allowed to make a poll. Ghetto poll ftw! ^^ [1] Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [1] Bomberman 64 [2] Super Smash Bros. [1] StarFox 64 [0] MegaMan 64 [1] Castlevania 64: Legacy of Darkness I vote OoT because they're done with the strategy, and they seem really ready to finish it soon. ^^'

Alright, I have my WIP done so far, and I have a +4 lead compared to DarkPlayer's emulator run. Here it is! ^^; Some things to remember: 1. I will probably fix the last "bot" spam as I think I can squeeze in one more. Not entirely sure, but I think I can. 2. All bots will probably be tweaked with frame perfection to squeeze in (hopefully) one more hit. 3. ANY input is greatly appreciated. =D I also try to make things look interesting/entertaining, so do keep that in mind. =) Feedback is greatly appreciated! ^^ Edit: Updated the link, I got the extra hit! Yaaay ^^

Hey everyone! I'm back, and before you think of the date, this is NOT an April Fool's joke! I will attempt one LAST attempt on breaking 328. If I can, I promise to finish the whole run at the very least.. if not, well.. we'll see =( Anyhow, just wanted to let everyone know I didn't die, though I'm a bit disappointed at the fact I wasn't able to do as well as I (and some of the better players here) hoped. Cheers? Edit: And if DarkPlayer or Dimij's friend sees this, please try and check this more often (or maybe IRC, which is even better! ^^) so I can refer to you for some tips/strategies. =3 Edit #2: Already +1 ahead! Expect a WIP in a few hours..

Nice run. I've never played the game before, but the looks of it look VERY hard since the jumping seems to be very sensitive. o.o; In any case, good job. <3 Looks very speedy. Oh, and

After watching your bomb before the waterfall, I wonder if that's the most you can get out of it? I'm told that 6 or more hits with that bomb is possible (I think you only got about 4 or 5), if I spam a little better on the bots and the tree-hoppers, I think 330 is -hopefully- within reach. ^^;; Thanks for all the help and the video DarkPlayer! <3 Edit: Forgot a question. You know a little after the checkpoint, when turbo through the enemy trigger and activate the one after.. do you shoot something on the far right? You seem to either miss it or shoot something else, but you get the one by the tower/building thing after that shot though.

Thanks for the video DarkPlayer, it's taught me a bit about route optimization. I wonder though, your video doesn't seem it can be improved by much, so where would 5 extra hits come in? 1. Activating the enemy trigger on the far right before you face the first mechbot that knocks the tower hiding the laser, it might be possible to kill all 6 (or in my case 5) against the building to get 1 more hit. 2. Spamming the mechbots? I guess it's possible to do 4+ for all of them.. at most adding two more hits. 3. You can also spam the tree-hoppers (the enemies found a little after the waterfall that pop-out from the ground) from below the ground which gets you a +1.. I'd have to be pretty lucky though. If it's possible (not likely, since optimizing this part would be 2 blasts, 1 while they're underground and 1 right when they pop out so they blow up) which could be a total of 18 instead of what we get, which is 10-12. If it's POSSIBLE, I'd like to aim for 330, because it's a nice even number =) This does mean I might have to take back my word on "no damage" though. Edit: Forgot to mention you actually have 324. +11 hit bonus from a boss for killing it within a certain amount of time. It doesn't show, but it carries over.

Took me a while to find a ROM for it, but it was well worth it. All I can say is, WOW! This run is done really really well. It may be even faster, but I'm voting yes for entertainment (I went "wtf wow" a few times ^^) and for speed (A lot of it.. you went off the camera several times.) Yesssss. ^^

Done! This is sort of a "test" run because I aimed for 315, but I can't obtain that without a high bomb kill before the waterfall, so this is what I can do so far. So without ado, here is the Corneria run! I would like to add a few notes to possible questions: 1. Why do you fire charged shots? The point system in Starfox is counted by hits, and you obtain hit bonuses when you have enemies indirectly with a charged laser blast. If you fire a locked-on one, you will get 1 hit less if they're in an enemy group. I fire unlocked-charged laser blasts to maximize my score. 2. You hit trees sometimes, doesn't that count as damage? Not necessarily. In fact, I hit trees on purpose sometimes (like to counter my barrel roll after I activate the gate enemy trigger.) Also, trees don't actually make arwings take damage. I've tried running through 10 of them, but no damage was ever taken off on my health gauge. 3. Why do you spam those walkbot thingies with laser blasts? Upon destruction, these walkbots don't entirely blow up. Their top does, but not the legs. The legs still count as part of an enemy, so I spam it for extra +1 Hits. 4. You hit an enemy with a laser blast in the waterfall part! (Or some other mistake during that period) I'm aware of this, and this run is just to be a "test" run since it's not the final version. If you have any other questions, please ask and I'll try my best to explain.

Heehee, you don't get what I mean <3 The point of the monks are not to be the killers, but the tankers and the finishers of enemies. Like you stated, Monks have a lot of HP. Added with the fact they can auto-attack when hit, they can finish off bosses/enemies [that have been death-claw'd] which can save me frames. Adding it up, I'm sure it can be of SOME help. And it's fine, the way I go about things is never really liked. It's worth a try, and if it doesn't work you can all ridicule and flame me for being a little noob. As for the instant kills, L5 Death and whatnot is long ways away from the Wind Shrine.

I'm actually pretty tempted to just go the following party for a good part of World 1: 2x Monk 1x Blue Mage 1x Black mage This is because monks are able to retaliate back, not to mention their p.atk is incredibly high, they have high crit rate, and 2x damage is always a plus. The mages can be backup or viceversa [with the mage being the offensive and monks finishing enemies off.] I tend to play a balance game with mages, making two mages switch jobs with each other so I can slowly level them both but still letting them capable of casting skills with each other (It's more common to do this with black/white, but I think blue/black can work too. It's worth a try anyhow, since Blue Magic isn't all that great.) I'm not very sure about class specifics (the job bonuses to stats, that kind of thing) and will research this later on tonight to see if any jobs have some extra speed that will add to their ATB. As someone stated before earlier in this thread, RM will most likely not be useful unless I badly need one character as something else and he/she can't slot a bm/wm skill, in which case I'll use a RM. I'll post about my progress once I start. Corneria run is pain ;-;

There's no need to thank me. ^^ I've been playing FFV for years, and I still occasionally do play it. I've put over 600+ hours into it, so I figured I might as well make one as a TAS. =) I'll follow the route Boco's been going, but what's the wall-trick in the Wind Shrine? I don't think I know it. As for the classes and optimization, I'll try and see if there's anything creative that could be (maybe) more effective. Expect to see me begin this in a week or so. Hopefully. =D

Very close to finishing my Corneria run now, I just need help on the waterfall part because I can't manage more than 3 hits with a bomb. Edit: I can only manage 3. Anything higher doesn't seem likely even after trying to reproduce what DarkPlayer and Dimi did. Edit #2: I got 3. I give up >< I've explored the enemy spawn a bit, but I don't think 4 is possible..? At this rate (and if it's possible), I'll kill all 18 enemies after the waterfall and get all the bonuses, which will leave me with 304, and a grand total of 315 (+11 from boss) which is -TWENTY- more than DarkPlayer's video of 295!!! (Sorry, I'm just excited that I would actually get so much. Didn't think I'd break 300 by much.)

qqwref: Most of those scores you've posted (and I've seen these before too) are most likely impossible to reach, or are false. Having seem Dimi and DarkPlayer's ability on Corneria with 295, (and me playing through these levels), I'm fairly confident that Corneria is almost impossible for Mark to get 332. This will require (if on normal mode) a score of -at least- 304 in order to get 332 on expert since Burning Death has told me there's 14 extra enemies, which counts for a total of +28 possible hits, and 304+28=332. =) However, 304 on corneria is hard. Very, VERY hard. My first few runs have all been restarted, but 304 on Corneria includes them having incredibly perfect accuracy, perfect manuvering with the Arwing, and VERY good spamming abilities. I can probably get close to 310 or maybe even break it if I'm lucky enough, but I'm very confident that Mark Johnson is indeed lying about his scores. I would like video proof to confirm his "skills" if he really is legit. Almost 10 extra hits is very hard to pull off, even for me on an emulator. I will post my Corneria run once I finish it, as it's my 6th revision on it and over 5000 rerecords put into only 1/3rd of the first level.

Watched the entire video just now and am left quite speechless. Well done you two! It was a great run and I hope it gets published. Usage of weapons and movement seemed thoroughly experimented with to find optimal {whatever}. Although I do have to wonder about that last Wily Stage.. why didn't you switch to Rush Adaptor earlier instead of just staying as regular Mega Man? In any case, good job. ^ㅈ^

Thanks for the tip Burning Death! I always had to shoot down the fast fighter from that zooms to the left, but I'll redo (*sob*) my run and add that in. I'm also trying out if I can take out the second enemy trigger (the one with the broken building before the checkpoint and the walkbots) before they come out by firing a blast there, but I've tried a lot and it doesn't seem possible. I managed to do it for the ones after the checkpoint (it took me a LOT of tries!) but I think it's almost possible to get full hit bonuses on everything in Corneria. I can break 310 DEFINITELY now, but it'll take me a long time to polish this run so it's perfect. My only problems now is mainly the bomb before the waterfall and the birds after it. I'm not sure what order to take them out in (one of my previous runs relied on Falco's arwing which I shot to take down two firebirds near him) but there's too many birds and not enough of them go near the ground. I'm also worried about the trees, but with practice I can probably get all six before they're back in the ground. Oh, and the walkbots of course, but spamming it is hard enough as it is, so I'll just aim to get one more than what Dimi/DarkPlayer got. So with new hopes and yet another improved run, I might actually be able to break 315 on Corneria. It'll be great if I could. =) Kanpai! ^^
