we really need to let start from savestate be accepted for this particular game...
Oh, I'm sure it will. At least this isn't SDA. If it's confirmed that seeing Mew requires all four characters to be unlocked, and starting from a savestate is allowed, would you be willing to redo the run for a potentially higher score?

Tomorrow, it will be exactly one year since I posted this (at Nico's submission), but I still feel exactly the same:

For me, the perfect movie of this game would: - Get all secret characters (this means playing the main game three times, if I'm not mistaken) - Once, beat very hard as fast as possible. - Once, go for highest score, get pacifist on all stages (exept for master hand) if possible) - Once, just go for entertainment, and show off stuff Then, 3 characters are unlocked, and the movie should continue on getting record times on break the targets. this will unlock the last character, and you can make record times on break the targets for everyone. Finally, make records for every character on board the platforms... the stop the movie. ... just a suggestion :P
This is a very good concept, but I'd do all those runs separately. If an improvement is found for a certain stage, the runner may have to redo a large portion of the TAS to keep it optimal. If we can figure out a way to hex-edit .m64 files (reliably), still record them separately and string them together in the end.

You somehow went through the Heart Piece without collecting it? Well done. The 27 seconds sounds about right, since AKA made the mistake of depositing only four rupees in the bank.

Hi! I am new to the forum although I have been visiting this site for a while now. Anyway, to help make you not feel as bad about not being able to get mew, apparently mew only appears from pokeballs after all four bonus characters have been unlocked in the game. Atleast that is what I have read online on several sites.
And I've also heard the contrary. It would do us well for someone to either prove or disprove this rumor. In Melee, Mew only appears after unlocking all secret characters. But I don't know about the original -- I've only seen it appear once, and I don't remember if all the characters were unlocked.

Just remember, each time you make a screen tranistion, you waste time. Is it possible to not visit North or East Clock town at all?
How can you skip those regions? You need the stray fairy; you need to get magic; and you need the silver rupee chests to fill up your wallet. But you brought up a good point about the area-to-area transitions -- even though those aren't reflected within the in-game time, they are in real-time, which is what we're going by (obviously). This is the reason you're pretty much restricted to South Clock Town during the wait for the Carnival of Time. The same principle applies for dialogue, text, and cutscenes, so do not trigger them.

Someone want to explain the hole route(because nothing else is goin on here), im really sure people would like to know(including me). Im playing the game on an emlator during history class and get goron, then zorro, then was able to kill the giant spitting water guy with the boomerang blades. Then i got to the palace and realized I needed a bottle for the magic beans, then remember you could skip 90% of it by goron bounce. Now i will progress tomorrow. Can the deku dungeon be shortened because you have boomerang blades before the bow. But you need bottles later, right..? or are we just gonna bomb glitch over everything... or has all this been answered on previous pages that I cant stand reading. Reply Thanks.
No offense, but maybe it'd be in your interest to pay more attention in school. The route = complete the four dungeons and defeat Majora's Mask on the moon. The end.

You are skipping Epona, right? I mean, it makes sense because it'll be faster, but it sort of confuses the storyline. The Skull Kid steals your horse and then you just forget about it and never get it back.
When has "the storyline" ever mattered in a speedrun? Am I missing something?

I've used it in West Clock Town and through Scarecrow song in the trading post and there have not been any desyncs. All I've gathered so far is that it definitely reduces the desync rate.
So you've already set your Scarecrow's Song...in cycle two? Am I reading this right? The Scarecrow's Song should be left for the third (main) cycle, since it doesn't carry over across three-day cycles. You'll be starting over from South Clock Town after getting the Goron Mask per the route I posted, since pyh's suggestion to Goron roll all the way to Southern Swamp isn't any faster. (I timed it -- it takes about 1'06", and besides, you'll be missing the crucial Adult Wallet upgrade.)

Also, after checking, it seems the scarecrow's song does NOT take sharps/flats, so looks like we're stuck with 5 notes to make a song with. Incidentally, those notes are D, F, A, B, and D (one octave higher).
As I said, the BoF works just fine, and is a tribute to this game's prequel. Not to mention that it'll be skipped over in all proper OoT runs. If you don't remember it, it's C-Down A C-Down A C-Right C-Down C-Right C-Down.

Yeah, that's definitely true. Just soar straight out of the lens cave.
Except you won't have learned the Song of Soaring yet at that point in the run.

You need to have the Lens of Truth in the Goron Graveyard. Otherwise, playing the SoH has no effect. I've confirmed that it doesn't matter if you talk to Darmani and/or equip your Lens to see him in the Goron Village or at any point along the route to Mountain Village. He will always show up in the Graveyard, but at that point you need to equip the Lens before you can heal him.

Seriously, just play the Bolero of Fire. That should be a familiar tune for most of us, and since all notes are of equal length, playing it fast doesn't affect its recognizability. Be sure to play the notes as fast as possible in front of the scarecrow. If you leave any unnecessary spaces in between them, you'll get the delays every time you play back the song later in the run.

I would have TASed each of the Ball Revamped games long ago if there were a way to do so. I held the world record time for BR3: Andromeda (200 sec.) for several months, until I gave away my strategies and someone else used them to beat my time (by two seconds). I believe a 192 or 193 is possible with frame-perfect input. I still hold the best time for BR3: Gemini (299 sec.).

It's not necessary to talk to Darmani.
I stand corrected. Thanks.
Instead of climbing the ladders, what if we used that tunnel that's open after you beat Goht? In the winter it is blocked by a piece of ice, which we can get through anyway.
If I recall correctly, you'll need to have the Goron Mask to take real advantage of that tunnel, since it has lots of slippery slopes.
Also, the Song of Time takes a whole 40-50 seconds or so. Would it be faster just to Goron roll out and backflip through the ice again? That way no bombs are lost.
40-50 seconds? I don't seem to recall it taking that long. In any case, the only real way to find out is to time it. This will move buying 20 bombchus and recording a Scarecrow's Song (I recommend C-Down A A A A A A A) from the third cycle to the second. In other words, Mukki will have to do both tasks before exiting Clock Town to head for the mountains.

Well, there's a warp to the balcony of the house from the top of the maze, but you'd need to find some way to wallkick up there...doesn't look promising. BoMF: Too wide.
That warp doesn't get you to the top of the house, though. You'll still need the magic carpet to get up there.

Here's the next part of the route: Clock Tower * Talk to the Happy Mask Salesman. Fast-forward all text with A/B. * Learn the Song of Healing. Use frame advance to play the notes quickly. * Collect the Deku Mask and exit. South Clock Town * Turn right and slash the owl statue with your sword. This creates a warp point for use later. * Head to East Clock Town. East Clock Town * Collect a silver rupee in the chest above the Shooting Gallery. (Wallet: 99; Bank: 99; Total: 198) * Head to the Bomb Shop in West Clock Town. Bomb Shop * Buy a bomb bag with 50 rupees. (Wallet: 49; Bank: 99; Total: 148) (Bombs: 20) West Clock Town * Deposit 49 rupees into the bank. (Wallet: 0; Bank: 148; Total: 148) * Head to North Clock Town through South Clock Town, and exit to Termina Field. Termina Field * Equip bombs (C buttons: Ocarina, Bombs) * Use the infinite sword glitch to get through the ice crystals. (Bombs: 19) (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGirAddjXCk) * The winding climb up to Mountain Village is difficult to optimize. This may take some time. Mountain Village * Superslide/backwalk to the owl statue near the northern exit and slash it with your sword. * Head to Goron Village via the eastern exit. Superslide/backwalk whenever possible for efficient movement. * Jump over the invisible platforms to the cave containing the Lens of Truth. Skip the owl dialogue. (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2Bw6XY2XXk) * Collect the Lens of Truth inside the cave and equip it. (C buttons: Ocarina, Bombs, Lens) Goron Village * Jump back across the platforms and talk to Darmani. * Follow him to the Goron Graveyard. Use the Lens only when necessary to make him appear. Superslide/backwalk when possible. * Climb the invisible ladders without the Lens. Goron Graveyard * Play the Song of Healing in front of Darmani's grave. * Collect the Goron Mask and equip it. (C buttons: Ocarina, Bombs, Goron Mask) * Play the Song of Time.

You are correct. Some dialogues can be fast-forwarded, while others cannot. The story is one that can be sped through...

Mukki is currently trying to run MM, though you can definitely give it a shot if you'd like. The run will be between two and three hours long, and extensive knowledge of the game and its glitches is necessary.
