I haven't watched your new WIP yet (will do later), but why do you deposit only four rupees as opposed to a full wallet? Isn't it a waste of time, since you have to talk to the banker and all?
Also, what about the chest containing the silver rupee in the Stock Pot Inn?
Thanks. Pretty dumb of me not to think of that. =P
Considering all the problems we've had with desynchs, I _really_ don't think it's worth the trouble doing something fancy during that time at the risk of frustrating yourself to hell. There's nothing to do anyway.
Breaking the pots is pretty fast.
If I recall correctly, the grand total comes out to be around 500. If you want a precise total, you can add the numbers up from Petrie's route.
Please explain how to get the hookshot without shooting the hive. I must admit that I didn't know about this. >_>
You forgot the Scarecrow's Song. You'll want to go to the Trading Post when you're in West Clock Town buying your bomb bag/bombchus or using the bank.
Is the ISoT really necessary? If I recall correctly, Petrie said that he reached or finished the Great Bay Temple at 7:xx p.m. on the first night. If this is true, the game should be completable within a regular cycle.
She will be there, but the two guards will block you regardless of the time of day. If you can find a way to glitch past them, there will be no guards beyond them and you won't need to play hide-and-seek.
AKA, if you're still doing this run, don't get the rupees outside Clock Town -- instead, just backflip up to the ledge and wait there until midnight. You'll waste time in the transitions as well as going to the bank. Remember that later, you can get 90 rupees fast from breaking pots, so I really don't think the luck manipulation will be necessary.
Well...I can't say I didn't see this coming. I respect your decision, but does school really take up so much time such that you cannot expend some 10-20 minutes each day? Even if you make a little progress at a time, in the end it'll really add up. I see you posting on SDA on a near-daily basis, so you can't have absolutely zero spare time...right? School/work is something that I'm sure every single one of us here has to deal with.
Anyway, seeing as how you're probably the most knowledgeable MM person here, I'd still say it's best that you do the run yourself in order to eliminate the middleman when it comes to communicating those "subtle tricks." If you really don't want to do it, even if it means pushing it back until a holiday, then I don't know... I've thought about how well I'd be able to do this TAS if I were to create it, but unfortunately, I lack proficiency with the "bomb hover," a trick that must be used extensively from start to finish. Otherwise, everything else is doable...just very, very time-consuming if the goal is frame perfection, though.
No offense, but by responding to users who are too lazy to dig up the answers themselves, you're giving them an invitation to do this again in the future. Which is why this topic, unlike the SDA counterpart, always gets cluttered with newb questions. If you just disregard them, they'll be forced to do the reading themselves or never find out the answers.
As far as I'm concerned, there are three legitimate categories for OoT, and this will probably be the case on TASvideos as well:
Any% - Fastest time; the standard "anything goes" category.
Any% Bottle Adventure - Version specific (works in 1.0 only)
100% - All inventory, equipment, and quest items.
The following are NOT legitimate categories, IMHO, and I'll explain why:
* "Minimalist" is too similar to the any% to warrant a separate category. The only difference is skipping the slingshot and bomb bag.
* "All Medallions" is included within 100%.
* You won't need BA for the 100% run for fairly obvious reasons.
The trials skip in Ganon's Castle does not consitute a "severe glitch" because loading point glitches that operate under the exact same principle are abused elsewhere, like in the Graveyard when entering Shadow Temple. The trials skip is simply the most "visually obvious" example of glitch abuse.
Also, don't you guys think that arguing "what the developers intended" is a bit debatable? I'm pretty sure they didn't intend players to do Shadow first. I'm pretty sure they didn't intend players to abuse crouching stabs, as the glitch was corrected in Majora's Mask. The closest you can get is the one and only official walkthrough, located at www.zelda.com/ocarina. This walkthrough includes getting maps and compasses from every dungeon, so you might as well collect them too since that's "what the developers intended."
There is probably some degree of interest out there for a 100% OoT run, but certainly not anywhere near that of the any% runs. The game is way too long, for one, and is not action-packed. There will be a lot of tedium and viewers will get bored watching it.
I'm going to need to rely on you guys to check the WIPs since I don't have the new plugin that Guano is using. Hence, I can't watch the movies in Mupen64 and have to wait for bkDJ to convert them to .avi.
Always play back from the very beginning to check for desynchs. You don't want to find a desynch when you're several dungeons past it.
You might want to confirm that (or get Acryte to) before Guano starts doing any BA-specific stuff, so he doesn't end up doing months of work for nothing.
Guys, please quit the page number and post counting garbage. It's not only juvenile, but adds absolutely nothing to the topic.
Anyway, the Dodongo's Cavern route will be
(1) -> (3) (Store ground jump off of Baby Dodongo) -> (8)
(10) -> (11) -> (12) (Acryte's SB) -> (16) (Get Bomb Bag)
(17) (Light eyes; lava pit text skip) -> (18) (Switch trick if getting bottle; otherwise bomb hover to block) -> (19) -> (20) -> (BOSS)
