I just spent about five minutes slashing up bushes around the Z-targeting practice area and they yielded nothing but green rupees and Deku seeds. Same with the weeds near the Kokiri Sword. I doubt it's possible to reach 40 rupees before the shop this way.
AKA and Acryte, those comments should have been said earlier, not when the run is already 25-30% finished. I guess you two can take the time to make runs that do have all those improvements.
The bottle glitch is not used in J-J because it would have required another trip back down the waterfall to catch a fish. That is, unless there's some faster way that I don't know about, and in which case you guys should have spoken up.
The bottle glitch will be used in Dodongo's. He can catch a fish on his way down. AKA, why don't you check the route and comment if there's any redundancy.
"J" is the entire first name? That's cool!

* How Bombchus should be rationed is shown ten posts above this one.
* One Deku stick should be spent on each boss (use a stick during the first battle cycle against King Dodongo, and a crouching stab during the second.)
* 30 Rupees need to be gathered for Bombchu Bowling. The best time for this would have been back in Spirit (upon killing the Anubis), but it's too late to head back now. I can think of the 20 Rupees from the castle drawbridge off the top of my head right now.
The projected final inventory screen (item counts are off but you get the idea):
*Sigh*
It's the fastest way to Dodongo's Cavern. You'd want to avoid going through the main gate to DM Trail, as the guard dialogue takes quite some time.
You're going from the Lost Woods into Goron City, not the other way around. There are no bomb flowers which you can light to blow up the rocks.
No. All you need is the Goron's Ruby.
Crap, you need two?
Why didn't your Bombchu counter decrease?! Cheats?
1. Spirit Temple - Let light in on second floor
2. Jabu-Jabu - Damage boost to boss antechamber
3. Jabu-Jabu - Damage boost to boss antechamber
4. Hyrule Castle - Skip over moat
5. Lost Woods - Open warp to Goron City
6. Dodongo's Cavern - Light right eye
7. Dodongo's Cavern - Light left eye
8. Dodongo's Cavern - Open boss chamber
9. Death Mountain Trail - Remove boulder
10. Death Mountain Trail - Remove boulder
11. Bottom of the Well - Blow open crack for more Bombchus -- NOT ENOUGH
Possible solutions:
1. Do Bottom of Well early (before or after Hyrule Castle)
2. Don't do miniboss skip in Jabu
3. Don't skip across moat in Hyrule Castle
4. Enter Goron City another way
Sorry, GuanoBowl.
That's a rather harsh thing to say. It's also OUR responsibility to make sure the movies play correctly. I could have sworn the movie played past the owl, though--at least, it did on my initial playthrough. But now it's definitely desynchronizing.
EDIT - The movie runs perfectly from the save state beginning in Link's House. So hex-editing is a possibility.

The latest WIP release still messes up at the owl when I play the movie from the beginning. But when I load the attached save state the movie plays just fine.
Sidestepping is faster than backwalking when climbing an upward incline.
It's only going to be done in Dodongo's. The time saved in Jabu-Jabu is not worth the trip down the waterfall and back. (Remember that you can't catch a fish when the letter is still in the bottle.) The bombchu blast will be part of the route.
Congrats on finally getting the jumpslash.
I'll try to plan out the item equipping from here on out. Sorry.
Routes for the last two child dungeons are up. The updated general route and the stuff below are on my wiki.

Yes. According to this site backwalking is nearly 1.5x faster than running normally. It will add up. Plus, we're under a time constraint here: we need to get to Hyrule Castle before sunset, so every second counts. Backwalking is more than a time-saver; it's a strategy -- for one, it's the only way to avoid getting hurt when climbing Death Mountain Trail in the section with falling rocks.
I'd estimate the final time to be just under three hours, with the child portion done in about 1.5 hours, plus or minus ten minutes. Timing ends when all input ceases, i.e. at the message, "...the way you are supposed to be."
I'm no expert when it comes to actual gameplay, though from what I've seen the angle of the jump and the position of the jumpslash both need to be pixel-perfect.
AKA (the same guy who made the video) is the master at this trick. Hopefully he'll give a few pointers.
Of course, the run's looking very nice so far. I'm predicting a time of around 1.5 hours for the entire child portion.
All right. It would be good if you could release an updated video once you're in Jabu-Jabu.
...
Fishing Pond (Golden Scale glitch)
Lake Hylia (Bottle + Warp)
Zora's Domain (Show the king bottle w/letter)
Zora's Fountain (Jump slash into Jabu-Jabu)
Jabu-Jabu
...
Yeah, the route I'm thinking about is
Jabu-Jabu
Zora's Fountain (Catch fish in bottle)
Zora's Domain (Warp)
Lake Hylia (Owl warp)
Hyrule Castle (Get Lullaby)
[Savewarp]
Lost Woods
Sacred Forest Meadow
Goron City
Either this or what I posted last night.
Zora's Fountain? Yes, but the time spent there is so brief that it's negligible. You do a jump-slash into Jabu-Jabu, and savewarp immediately after beating the dungeon and receiving the sapphire. I believe that even with the time spent there, Guano can still make it to Hyrule Castle in time. (I lost a few seconds on the way to Lake Hylia and still made it.) In any case, the time will be tight so Guano will need to move as efficiently as possible between places. For one, in Lake Hylia I think it's faster to swim to the bottle after fishing than (back)walking and diving.
From what I've heard, it's possible to light both eyes using a regular bomb but not a bombchu.
You are incorrect. The exact trigger that "locks" the path to the castle courtyard is the Ganondorf/OoT cutscene. I used the levitation cheat in Project64, on a save file with all three stones, to enter the market and Hyrule Castle without triggering the cutscene. The courtyard was not blocked off by the pair of guards, and the Lullaby could be obtained just fine. I then tried again after triggering the cutscene, and the path was blocked off. Even then, if you levitate over the pair of guards you can still get the Lullaby.
This also means that if you can find a way into the castle without triggering the cutscene, you can save getting the Lullaby for on your way down from Death Mountain Trail. But this is very unlikely.
And xebra, I hope you are not serious. This is a speedrun. Songs can be played so quickly on emulator that they almost sound like blurs.
I'm sorry and hope you get better soon.
I don't think the owl can be skipped. I tried on emulator many times.
New proposal:
Forest -> Lake Hylia -> Jabu-Jabu -> Sacred Forest Meadow
SAVEWARP
Forest -> Hyrule Castle
SAVEWARP
Forest -> Lost Woods -> Goron City -> Dodongo's Cavern, etc.
I think this will cost the least amount of time, and you skip a stupid owl dialogue, too.
I just tested it out myself by walking to Lake Hylia, going to the Fishing Pond, getting the bottle, entering Zora's Domain, savewarping, and walking from the forest to Hyrule Castle. It works, i.e. you arrive at Hyrule Castle just before nightfall. However, I'm assuming that time remains still in Zora's Domain, Jabu-Jabu, and the Lost Woods. If anyone has seen evidence that suggests otherwise, please speak up.
Well, don't buy the bean unless you're sure you can light both Dodongo eyes with one 'chu. Otherwise you'll be short, and that will lead to nastier complications.
I don't know of any way to skip the owl dialogue. Try backwalking towards the vine you have to climb. If the owl still appears there probably is no way out. Later, you'll need to seamwalk and perform a bombchu boost as shown in this video:

Damn it. I'm quite positive that had my original route been followed (Lake Hylia first, then Gerudo Valley), none of this would be an issue right now. Then, someone made a convincing argument that Gerudo first would be faster, and now we're stuck with this damn day/night problem.
