How do you skip boulders at Zora's River (other than not going through there in the route)?

I suppose you could use cheat codes (Project64 supports them), make a save state in Dodongo's, and see if you can pull off the eye-lighting trick with one 'chu. AKA and others have said it's not likely, but then again they didn't use save states and make hundreds or thousands of attempts.

AKA, list the Bombchus, please. I have 1. Spirit Temple - Let light in on second floor (1-14) 2. Hyrule Castle - Skip over moat (2-5) 3. Jabu-Jabu - Damage boost to boss antechamber (2-13) 4. Lost Woods - Open warp to Goron City (2-19) 5. Dodongo's Cavern - Light right eye (2-22) 6. Dodongo's Cavern - Light left eye (2-22) **CAN'T DO BOTH AT ONCE 7. Dodongo's Cavern - Open boss chamber (2-22) 8. Death Mountain Trail - Remove boulder (2-23) 9. Death Mountain Trail - Remove boulder (2-23) **CAN'T DO BOTH AT ONCE 10. Bottom of the Well - Blow open crack for more Bombchus (2-27) (11.) Zora's River - Remove boulders

Unfortunately, if there isn't a way to avoid using a bombchu on the boulders, this isn't feasible. :( We have just enough bombchus for everything else.

Oh yes...we have a solution. Make a detour to Zora's River and buy a magic bean (10 rupees). Then go to Hyrule Castle. You'll need to find five Rupees somehow for the Fishing Pond. Thanks, AKA. ^.^

By the way, here's a mirror of the route if Freehostia goes down (as it is for me right now): http://67.18.64.226/~mlin/oot_wiki/index.php/Main_Page

1 minute?! This looks to be quite problematic. I guess there are several options: Forest -> Lake Hylia -> Gold Scale -> Castle -> Savewarp -> Forest -> Lost Woods -> Zora's River -> Zora's Domain Forest -> Lake Hylia -> Gold Scale -> Zora's Domain -> Jabu-Jabu -> Savewarp -> Castle -> Savewarp -> Forest -> Lost Woods -> Goron City... (but you'll be missing out on the speedy warp to GC via LW) I have no idea how much time each of these would save, if any at all. But in any case, Hyrule Castle needs to be done before all three stones have been acquired. Anyone else have any ideas?

Damn. If you were to backwalk to Hyrule Castle right now, how many seconds would you have to wait outside the gates?

I think I got it! Unless Zeldas lullaby needed for any parts that are before....... Since night comes around Ill do this instead. 2-1 Link's House Exit 2-2 Kokiri Forest Exit 2-7 Hyrule Field Backwalk to Lake Hylia 2-8 Lake Hylia Enter Fishing Pond 2-9 Fishing Pond Perform Golden Scale glitch Golden Scale (Equipment) ...
No, this doesn't work. Because you'll have all three stones, the Ganondorf/OoT cutscene will trigger. Once you receive the Song of Time, the castle guards will be in a different position and you can no longer enter the castle courtyard and learn the Lullaby. EDIT - Can you please make a new .m64 that doesn't desynchronize, and I'll take a look at the trek to Hyrule Castle and decide what the best solution is.

It has yet to be pulled off. EDIT - I thought time of day wasn't saved when you save and restart. In other words, every time you load your game it should be morning. So if you backwalk to Hyrule Castle from the forest, you should barely make it. Unless I'm wrong on this... EDIT 2 - Acryte finally showed a way to enter the Great Fairy's Fountain without explosives. Video here. Bombchus should be just enough. (Parens indicate steps in the Wiki route) 1. Spirit Temple - Let light in on second floor (1-14) 2. Hyrule Castle - Skip over moat (2-5) 3. Jabu-Jabu - Damage boost to boss antechamber (2-13) 4. Lost Woods - Open warp to Goron City (2-19) 5. Dodongo's Cavern - Light right eye (2-22) 6. Dodongo's Cavern - Light left eye (2-22) 7. Dodongo's Cavern - Open boss chamber (2-22) 8. Death Mountain Trail - Remove boulder (2-23) 9. Death Mountain Trail - Remove boulder (2-23) 10. Bottom of the Well - Blow open crack for more Bombchus (2-27) Also, note that you should catch a fish after you finish Jabu-Jabu in order to perform a bottle glitch in Dodongo's Cavern that saves quite a bit of block-pushing. More on this later.

past iron knuckle. I couldnt figure out how to get the Armos with the sword, so I used a deku stick on him and took damage for later. So then I dont use a stick on iron knuckle and rather I just Jump Slash and Crouch Stab him at the necessary time. I dont know where else there could be a shortcut. If someone finds out, help out!
Didn't AKA say that you could do a jump stick attack on the Armos and have the power preserved until the Iron Knuckle?

Jump attack with Deku Stick + 7 crouching stabs. Try to manipulate luck per DK64_MASTER.

... -_- When you die, the game asks you two questions: 1) Do you want to save? 2) Do you want to continue? You need to select Yes for the first question and No for the second question. You're then taken back to the file select screen, where you can continue from your house. There are no hard resets involved.

Where's the reset that's being recorded? Sigh.

You need to save and not continue, then select your file again.

There will certainly be enough Light Arrows for Ganon. I don't think you're serious, but the idea taking a detour to get the Hammer or any other item is simply ludicrous. AKA, what the heck are you talking about? Guano collected three Deku Sticks before entering the tree. He might as well use them before he becomes an adult and can't equip them anymore. I've simply suggested the three best enemies to use them on as to minimize wasted time. A missed jumpslash is a few seconds' loss. Guano, how far are you now? Any updates would be welcome, but feel free to produce the run at your own pace.

If he has three sticks, he might as well use them. Misses take time.

Since the text is triggered right beyond the door, no. The text can not be skipped. What is your background with this game, by the way? Your testrun's looking really good.

No, I don't think there's any way to evade the Beamos once you're on the ledge. Don't recover any health for the rest of the dungeon, so that you die in the fastest time possible. AKA, can you quit uploading oversized avatars. kthx.

By the way, the three Deku sticks are to be rationed as follows: 1. ST - Iron Knuckle (Jumping stick attack followed by 7 crouching stabs) 2. DC - Boss (Jumping stick attack on first cycle and crouch stab on second) 3. JJ - Boss (Jumping stick attack on last phase followed by crouching stabs)

Ganon's Castle early is NOT possible right now. So until further notice, stick with the route I put together and the run will look great. :) I keep up with the discussion over at SDA daily, so if any new tricks pop up I'll be sure to update them. But right now GC early doesn't look too possible.

Jump attack with Kokiri Sword = 2 damage Power crouch stab = 2 damage Total = 4 damage The first jump attack has to hit.

Sounds like 4 HP to me. 1 stick jumpslash = 4 damage
