All right...this is it: Black - guaranteed to work White - if boss key w/out untwisting corridor is possible 0. Using the longshot, I was able to aim at a certain point so that Link slides off the tree branch and directly into the temple, saving 2-3 seconds. I am not sure if this is possible with the regular hookshot, but it's worth looking into. Main differences: 1. Obviously, Acryte's "Ultimate FT Sequence Break" is quite a challenge in itself. Good luck! 2. Since you said it yourself, collect the small key from the Floormaster in callout 10 rather than the chest in the entrance chamber, if doing so is indeed faster. 3. At callout 5, you'll need to use explosive hovers, since you don't have the necessary strength upgrades to push the blocks. 4. If the boss key can be obtained early via explosive hovers, follow the white route from callout 9 onwards. This will involve going up to the bow, deathwarping, and starting back from the entrance. 5. If the boss key cannot be obtained early, then follow the black route all the way through and return to the main chamber through the courtyard. The old run took six minutes, and obviously you can expect to add on a few more this time around.

Yeah, the explanation last time in Guano's comments was bleak at best for those who were watching OOT speedrunned for the first time...and JXQ's commentary, while hilarious, was uninformative (sorry :( )... maybe Guano should do the commentary track this time round explaining everything he couldn't in the submission comments?
I'll think about writing a technical commentary if there is sufficient interest and I have time.

I made this vid about 2 months ago. Never uploaded it. This was my theory for sequence breaking Forest. Too bad it didn't turn out. When you superslide after the vid starts, the movement is locked and so the superslide has no momentum, and you end up supersliding in place. This is crap. This means you have to use other magic spells and items to manipulate the timing of the bomb while time for the cutscene timer is not elapsing. This way you can have the bomb blow up before the cutscene starts, and also have the superslide be initiated. Then you can superslide onto the elevator as it goes down AND once it reaches the bottom... you can get back on and ride it up. Skipping all the poes. Then you just need to get the boss key and bow.
I think AKA may have gotten the superslide to work before the Poe cutscene initiates, but even with that, he had to turn on cheats and levitate a few times to get into the elevator. Here's his original post and video:
Here's what happens when you enter the lift early, I was trying to do it in a legit way on Mupen earlier but unfortunately it didn't work for the reason shown in the video, plus it literally needed to be frame perfect to activate the superslide without getting damaged, but amusing none the less. When I get trapped in the elavator I levate to land back on the lift again, but I'm sure it would work with a backflip also. http://files.filefront.com/Project64_2007_01_25_16_5Wavi/;6611307;;/fileinfo.html
With Kazooie going back to glitching OoT (he said so himself in the TP topic over on SDA), hopefully he'll be able to figure something out for us...

this isn't a simple tas, especially with all the desyncs.
Of course not. Don't you get it? It's meant to be a joke...

Nicely done. 'Tis a shame you're out of bombs, or you could have superslid on more occasions, e.g. (Market to KV, KV to graveyard, DM Trail to Great Fairy).

It'd be a nice picture to use when the run is submitted.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq-qsOETxcY I cannot get to the elevator, I dont know why. I do exactly like in the video but for some reason in the video at 24 seconds, my guy wont do that. What am I doing wrong?
Even if you can do that, how do you plan on getting out of that void? Have you obtained the boss key yet? (I can't watch your movie until bkDJ converts it, as I don't have the necessary plugins.)

Anyway, I think these tricks can be done to entirely destroy Forest Temple http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq-qsOETxcY (to go to the rotating platform - problem is the texture loading I guess)
Well, most likely something will need to be done in Forest to achieve sub-2. This trick looks like it has potential, but that's way too much height to gain with bomb hovers...and the elevator smashing down on Link's head is problematic.

Why do we go to fire temple again? I thought we are going to use the hard ganon early method and not the bombhovering one...
We're not doing Fire Temple. Where are you getting this from?

I thought the plan was to get the lon lon ranch bottle when going to lake hylia, why is that slower?
You'd have to wake Talon using the weird egg. This requires waiting for daybreak on the castle grounds.

Cucco collection takes 2:37 from entering the area to obtaining the bottle. From entering Lake Hylia for the first time to collecting the Bottle in the old run takes 2:01; However, King Zora takes a full minute to shuffle sideways if you show him the bottle (to get Ruto's letter out of it). This also does not count time saved from crossing Hyrule Field an extra time. The Cuccos are faster.
You're right. It takes two minutes alone to earn the Silver Scale and enter the portal to Lake Hylia. So the Cucco bottle was the fastest.

Well, you have the adult route. The child route is Kokiri Forest -> Deku Tree -> Spirit Temple -> Dodongo's Cavern -> Kakariko Village (Bottle) -> Zora's River -> Jabu-Jabu -> Temple of Time Are we really sure that the Cucco-collection bottle takes less time to earn than the one in Lake Hylia (with the letter in it)?

Sigh? Why sigh? I actually found a good strategy to get the dead hand in 1 cycle and have his barrier come up while he is still out so I can get damage done to me to get killed by a bomb and not save/continue from the beginning of the temple to save a good minute of backtracking :) As of right now, I am at Death Mountain Trail almost about to blow up the boulders to get to the Great Fairy and my time is: 1 Hour and 23 Minutes EDIT: I am ~ 23 minutes ahead of my current run Also, I managed to kill the 2 Red Tektites(I had to get it by the frame) to get 10 bombs! Putting me at 12/12 bombs/chus!!!!
Nice, but don't forget that you have to complete Forest in its entirety, as well as finish the Bottle Adventure. So it will be a very tight race for sub-2, if it's indeed possible. Let's see... Great Fairy's Fountain - 1:25 Sacred Forest Meadow - 1:28 (don't forget the Minuet skip, or sliding into FT's entrance by aiming the hookshot at the highest point of the tree branch*) Forest Temple complete - 1:38 (one-cycle Phantom Ganon?) Deathwarp --> Temple of Time - 1:39 Finish Bottle Adventure - 1:46 (no way to warp to Lake Hylia, so have to rely on superslides across Hyrule Field) Ganon's Castle - 1:48 Final blow - 2:05 Last input - 2:08 (*What happens is that you slide off the tree branch and directly into the temple without ever setting foot on the landing. Just experiment around with different hookshot angles.) Note that these are worst-case estimates. I added a few more minutes for Ganon's Castle because you won't have a sword. The sigh was for the 1.5 pages of off-topic chatter. And what's worse is the fact that whenever I tried to steer the conversation back to where it should be, someone had to get it back off-track again.

Much thanks. I will review that in detail when I can. Reminder: Dead Hand one-cycle K.O. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOl-5HjlRBw Graveyard to Shadow Temple entrance - 1 minute Shadow Temple up to Hover Boots - 1 minute Deathwarp here? Graveyard to Great Fairy - Great Fairy - 1.5 minutes Great Fairy to Forest Temple (with Minuet skip) - 2.5 minutes Forest Temple (all) - 10 minutes? Finish BA to get Light Arrow on B - ? Ganon's Castle to last input - 16.5 minutes + padding (you have no sword on B) Looks like every second will be needed to get this under two hours. Good luck. :)

uhm.. I know this sounds stupid, but can anyone make/find a save file for this game after coompleted Dodongo Cavern, to mupen?
Simple. Play Guano's TAS (this one or the previous version) up to completing Dodongo's Cavern, and save state.

TSA said Guano's times are optimal without the longshot. 42-44 sec. is optimal with the longshot, and his 38 sec. or whatever was the result of a misunderstanding with regards to Cyberscore's timing conventions. So forget everything I said earlier. Sorry for the confusion I caused.

So far, no desynchs after the race. Good news: I completed the race 1 second "Game Time" faster than my previous run in the race! After reaching the graveyard after getting squished by the door, I am at 1 Hour and 19.0 Minutes. So, the next thing to do now is Shadow Temple(hover boots) then exit, Great Fairy(magic meter), Forest Temple(Fairy Bow) then beat boss. Ill post the WIP after Link gets the hover boots.
If I recall correctly, TSA said he knew of a way to improve your old time on the Dampe race by more than a few seconds.

You said 50 minutes last time...is this after talking to Sheik (whereas last time was up to pulling the MS)?

As for making a video of everything to this point.... I'll wait until Guano is at the master sword for real. It would take probably 6 hours of letting the emulator run through, and then triple that to encode to a manageable size. And I have no idea if the sound will stay in sync. But I'll try. I'll ask in advance. would you want it to be 320x240 (bitrate ~240 like the current published run) or 512x384 (bitrate ~300, all the latest wips have been this).
As with Andypro, I'd prefer faster downloads over higher quality. Much thanks. If you can't get the sound to stay in sync, don't worry about it.

Nicely done, Guano. Except if it desynchs from the beginning, then you'll have to do it over. =( AKA, what gap? (I've only watched the .mkv) bkDJ, on the next update would you mind encoding a vid that plays from the very beginning? If this isn't a big hassle for you, it'd be very much appreciated. Thanks for all your work so far!
