Ah, yes, I remember it taking quite a few hours to compile when I was working on it... Well, I guess I'll have to wait for an official build then! I can't wait to try it. Keep up the great work!

Wow, amazing job, feos! I'd like to know this, too: "So the "rewind" command goes back one instruction?" I do a ton of debugging on the ex-MESS part of MAME, and having something like this would be life-changing... Even if rewinding only goes back an entire frame, that would be very useful too. By the way, could you upload a build of it somewhere so we can start using it now? :D

So, for me, looking back the question is, "was it worth it?"
These replies before mine clearly show you that NO, IT WASN'T WORTH IT. If making a TAS of a Mickey Mouse game is the only extraordinary thing I'll make in my life, I'd kill myself right now.

So... You want to make an N64 emulator for a system with a ~100 MHz CPU... And use Lua for it? Even the highly optimized N64 emulators for the ~700 MHz Wii CPU run like shit, I doubt it's possible to write an emulator like that that runs faster than 0.000001 FPS. Using a slow scripting language like Lua on top of it all just makes it absolutely impossible...

There's this post from a user named coy1234 on the Unity forums:
Hi, I have a .n64 file of The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. I'm wondering if I can import characters and masks from the game and use them in Unity.
So, it seems he's looking for some hacker who can help him make his fan Zelda game with the N64 assets.

42 TASers are sent to a deserted island by the evil web developer Bisqwit. They are given a Windows laptop, food, and free Wi-Fi. An explosive collar is fitted around their neck. They have to TAS a new game every day, with the slowest TASer's collar exploding at midnight. The last survivor is allowed to leave the island. They can form teams to help each other, but if there is more than one survivor, the collars explode and kill them all. I did not copy this from Battle Royale's synopsis on Google. Eh... It would be based on zeromus, a user who had not TASed any game before. He has mad programming skills and everyone is always asking for his help with emulators and Lua scripting, so he never has enough time for his own TASes, barely making it on time at the end of the day. His friend adelikat is the most experienced TASer around and his final rival. zeromus betrays him at the end, adding some malicious code to BizHawk that ends up destroying adelikat's computer in a big explosion that transforms the island in a deep crater.

This one too: Post #133804. All that thread was great. Bisqwit was very worried that TASers would start to submit many movies with "sex scenes" in them... And there was a funny screenshot where the bears were censored with black bars over them, but it seems that it was lost forever. :(

I can't, sorry. Very busy and lazy. Try running it on another computer or virtual machine if you really need it.

Well, if anyone was wondering why this isn't an approved emulator
Gamer Maiden Sonia is talking about the non-RR MAME, which is not approved probably because it doesn't have any TASing functionality in it. :P @Gamer Maiden Sonia: Do you remember what could have changed since it used to sync? Maybe the file got corrupted, your ROM changed, your MAME version changed, etc. I used to run some 20 year old input files and they never suddenly stopped syncing on their corresponding MAME versions.

You need to add emu.frameadvance() or something similar inside that loop.

Yes, both Avidemux and VirtualDub can do that.

I don't see how that is easier than Avidemux... In Avidemux you don't need plugins or any other crap to use pretty much any format that you might find. You can drag and drop too, and use its hotkeys. Also, Avidemux doesn't look like vomit and you don't need to visit pages from 1992 to get some simple filters for it (and good luck trying to get anything for the x64 version of VirtualDub. :D)

You can also use something like Avidemux if you don't want to bother with scripting or re-encoding.

I even read the documentations and could not find anywhere saying how to do that. At least MAMEUI32 can record inputs despite how bad it may be.
Oh, God... That shit doesn't add any functionality to MAME, it just makes a lot of other stuff inaccessible. It says very clearly in the official documentation how to record input:
-record / -rec <filename> Specifies a file to record all input from a game session. This can be used to record a game session for later playback.

Your first post should give you an idea. It's missing most of the functionality of the real MAME, it's very outdated, slow, ugly, useless, not developed anymore, buggy, and so on. I was actually being very nice when I said it was a terrible piece of shit.

Sometimes I wonder why you can't simply playback input and dump at the same time. Every emulator I've seen that has those two features can do both at once.
MAME can do that very simply, too. Just read the documentation. ...And don't use the terrible piece of shit that is MAMEUI32.

You may also need to change the directory to the mame-rr folder first
In other words, type this:
cd /d C:\Program Files (x86)\mame-rr-emu
And then this:
mame-rr valkyrie -aviwrite myfile.avi
But, if you don't even know much about how to use the command line, I would advise you to stop trying to run this piece of shit.

You need to replace the signs and the text within them, for example:
mame-rr valkyrie -aviwrite myfile.avi
You may also need to change the directory to the mame-rr folder first, for example:
cd /d d:\emulators\mame-rr
