This one has been sitting for quite some time so I would like to see it judged soon. Feedback on this has been scarce. One of the few comments in the thread suggests that this is one of the most boring runs ever created. Not a glowing review, yet 91% of you have voted yes! If you are one of the people that voted yes can you please make a post to explain why you voted this way, or if you do not want to post publicly you can PM me instead. Also, knbnitkr, if you are reading this can you please finish your submission text? Especially information about the glitches used. Whatever information you can provide would be great.
I’m one of the people voted yes. Because of the number of viewer here, I thought it’s unnecessary to explain. Many other TASes are mirror-uploaded on the site, but the most of them have fewer viewers. Also I was lazy to post comment because English is not my mother tongue. This game was released only in Japan, so the number of comments is small. But it was presented by square, which was famous for Final Fantasy series. In fact this game is very popular in Japan. RS(Romancing Saga) series is famous for its free scenario system. In these games you can go everywhere you like, make anyone take part in the party. It’s very difficult to decide route and strategy. I think this is one of the most difficult games for TASing. Besides that, RS2 is the most challenging and interesting game. The game system is so complicated that I can’t explain enough. When you touch an enemy, a battle takes place. It’s very difficult to avoid encounter. I even laughed seeing the character running through a floor. Plus luck manipulation, these are possible on TAS. They can’t be done on normal play. So the technical quality is enough. I personally enjoyed enough. Maybe I should make subtitles but my English is poor and I’m busy.

The guy who made the last run with the JAP ROM made a new run: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm11786255 He now claims 48:27.00 Can someone check and see if this is legit?
You didn’t need to introduce the run. Abeshi has been a member, so if the time had come, he would do it. The runs on nicovideo include this have been made for the audience on the site not for the people on the TASVideos. So I basically think that they should not be introduced without their permission. If they’d like to inform their run, they will register this site and do it. About intro skip: Why don’t you read his discription, “)谷( <OPはカットしとるぞ。どうせワシの話など誰も聞かんじゃろう。”? It’s ridiculous to explain. Well, the intro was cut because of the limited size and no one was going to watch it. And although the intro was cut, the record was not subtracted, iirc, so 48mm27ss is the accurate record. I checked. I was wrong, sorry. Here is my honest feedback about the run. I guess he wouldn’t use TAS input plugin, so the degree of optimization was a little less. The run is so identical with bloob’s that you needn’t watch, but I noticed three small tricks were his original. First is not buying Deku Stick as is mentioned above. It’s available only in (J) ver. because of the short text messages. Second is throwing cucco at the same time you take leap. Third is superslide after getting the big boss key at the Ganon’s Tower. These things should be respected. Besides these, bloob himself demonstrates “Forest escape without hovering nor ISG.” So even faster bloob’s run is now improvable. Sorry, Abeshi, but your run is now known, so I complement without your permission. When the first abeshi’s run was submitted, many criticisms occurred. He decided to submit not because he’d like to but because some member suggested him to do so. So too many criticisms are very rude. Why did not they suggest providing .m64 file instead of submitting? Many other audience and lurkers think so even now. Don’t take these sentences bad. Maybe the reason he has not introduced the run is there. He would not like to cause friction, so did I and so did you.

I voted yes several days ago. This run reminds me of this CT. Although the usage of the debug menu is on the boards, subpixel optimization and better luck manipulation are enough for me to vote yes. The RNG behavior is very impressive. Many other RPG runs might be replaced by his refined analysis.

The most important thing is to discuss well before making a run, I think.

The only advantage of using J rom is to enable you to compare these run easily, but Bloob’s run is obviously faster than you needn’t compare. It seems that that Japanese run disappointed several audience because of the language version and the quality. So, why did they suggest submitting instead of providing the .m64 file? Yeah, it’s no use crying over spilt milk. And now it is being replaced. Why is there any problem? I’m not against using U rom for this site. (Of course, you can use any version for youtube, nicovideo or something else if you are not going to submit to this site, imo.)

There are three TASes I’m especially looking forward to in N64 games. This is one of them. I watched. Very impressive! I’ve never seen such a Bomber Man game. Yes vote. I think it would be more entertaining to steal the guy’s hat at the fishing pond, but it would be slower, wouldn’t it? BTW, audio commentary is not only interesting but also good for me to improve my English skills. Is anyone working on it? I’m looking forward to it.

Thanks a million, FractalFusion! I'll check it asap. edit:I watched. This is the best subtitles for publication. I can’t thank you enough. Jin and Stolte are better spellings, thanks. There are three things to be corrected: Line 256: "This special skill is very useful on the next boss." (at Cosmo City) This should be deleted. I didn’t use Jin’s decisive skill. Line 281: "You are strong. Let's call it a day. Goodbye!"(after first Ledesma) Same as in Line 280. Line 399: "Bio Paradise" Bio Paradise is the last field. The last dungeon is called Bio Palace. If you use Ctrl+F and enter “Bio Palace” in the walkthrough on GameFAQs, you’ll see it. (Though there is written Central City as Center City near, “Center” is better than “Central”, I think.) As far as the duration, I can’t say anything. Native English speaker should check it, though I think it OK. Although we used “Shulla” for spelling “シュラ” (means “修羅,” which means “shamble” literally), spelling “Shura” or “Shula” might be correct. (I don’t care whether.)

If this is accepted, (J) version of Lttp or FF6 will be acceptable because of the hammer dash glitch or equipping any item glitch. But maybe these won’t be accepted. I‘ll delay my vote until the update of the run but I’ll vote no because I wouldn't like to have double standard. Sorry. I am not personally interested in the little fast music, though I painfully understand (E) version is officially released.

It’s very difficult to optimize the run on 3D game and mupen is unbelievably desynchable unlike other emulators such as fceu or snes9x. These things prevent making 100% run, I think. It will take much time that seems an eternity to make perfectly optimized 100% run. So I’d rather see nearly perfect run, but it will make expert TASers disappointed. Of course, it shouldn’t be submitted nor accepted.

There is no active zelda TASer on nicovideo as far as I know. It won’t come out even on the site.

Thank you for making the script, HHS. If your script is applied, it will be possible to extract all the data of my first subtitles, though I don’t know the way for the lack of my programming skills. And maybe these subtitles are accepted for the publishing.

So, you can basically use any ability except for Gil Toss, can’t you? I have ever seen a video in which the author won against Guardian on LLG on youtube. I wouldn’t tell you the video in case it deprives you of enjoyment of thinking about the strategy. I’m sure you can complete the game. Good luck!

FractalFusion wrote: What is BP and what does it do?
BP means battery point. The BP system is to this game as the weapon energy system to mega man games. On this game, you can’t attack enemy without consuming BP. The stronger the weapon is, the more BP you consume when you attack. When BP is shortage or you don’t equip any weapon, your damage against enemy is crappy. At the second Oregi battle on my run, Gin didn’t equip any weapon so his damage was very small. Sorry for my slow work, but I finished rewriting subtitles into .sub and .srt file. .sub -> http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?k7n7eieji0rcdaq .srt -> http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?z2fw6t6bo7nj4xw In these files: -As I have said, I summarized almost all the dialogues, because they were too fast to be read if all of them were put. -I deleted step-counter. -I only showed max HP of bosses. -I showed the speaker in each dialogue. -I reduced the duration time of subtitles. (Might be too fast to be read.) Feel free to customize and redistribute it. I’m not good at editing movie. I wish I could help.

I’ve been rewriting subtitles into .sub file. About 40% has been done. Many yes votes and comments are very encouraging for me to rewrite it.

Yes, you have a point there.

I still think it's just the wrong game to have them.
Wrong game? Of course, it’s OK you can think it, but no way for me, Japanese and some foreign audience. Shouldn’t I have submitted this run as many other TASers who are persist in their own language on youtube or nicovideo? I personally think TASing shouldn’t be done privately but publicly, so I began this thread and posted several WIPs. If this was the wrong game, almost all RPGs would be the wrong game for TASing, because it’s impossible to avoid random battles. Even on the game where it’s possible to, author took extra steps when leveling up, so I don’t think the degree of my optimization is bad. I feel cultural difference. I saw several submissions rejected just because of language problem, I thought. When I tas another game released locally, I may not be going to introduce it. Maybe some other Japanese people even think why on earth translate into English, yet foreign people never translate into Japanese. Though I wrote above various things, don’t take it for bad. I should receive any opinions. I love Deign’s movies, FF4, Mega Man, etc. Yeah, anyway, I should finish rewriting subtitles ASAP.

You can say that again. Unfortunately, this was a TAS, cool music like at the boss battle couldn’t continue for a long time. Sorry, to reform subtitles has not be done. I’ve been busy recently.

I’m very looking forward to this run. I see that the new trick sometimes make luck worse and boss fight looks worse. I like tracing boundaries. ^ ^

Requesting encode with soft subtitles (not burned in).
My fewer subtitles have only step-counter and Bosses’ HP with memory.readbyte. They are written for Japanese audience. My streaming encodes on nicovideo have them. You can watch them on nicovideo, though they are burned. (memory.readbyte doesn’t seem to work in .srt or .sub files) After I searched how to make .srt or .sub files and tried, I started to reform subtitles. Here is the WIP. -> http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?1ntjwmygmhi I erased if statement hand by hand. I deleted step-counter because entering every value is very painful. Obviously, it’s annoying to see every dialogue. I’m going to summarize them except after movie end. And I won’t show Bosses’ HP in real-time (maybe annoying) but max-HP at the beginning of the battle. Any idea will be welcome. Or you can customize subtitles.

I seemed to misunderstand about skipping the power-up message of Twin Tania. This is the true method: Point Twin Tania by selecting a physical attack. When the cursor is cancelled, use an instant death attack. You can skip the message. Every instant death seems to work. You can use Break, death potion or Lv 5 death as you like.

I personally think some of the bad games may not be a bad game. Just a language barrier, or you don’t have the experience of playing the game. So I won’t vote however famous games I’m not familiar with. If it’s truly a bad game, author doesn’t spend much time on making the run.

I think that showing the cutscenes (but skipping any instances of repeats where possible) would have been a more than acceptable speed-for-entertainment tradeoff, especially in an hour-long movie.
Sorry, I was going to beat my old run on Nicovideo so I skipped all the skippable cutscenes. And this game isn’t hex-edit friendly. About re-writing subtitles: Sorry, I have never made .sub nor .srt text files. I used memory.readbyte on lua. I don’t know how to display enemy’s HP and step-counter in .sub or .srt text files. I am not a native English speaker. There are grammatical errors in my subtitles that I don’t notice. The duration and the coordinate of the messages might be improved. I was wondering if someone would re-write it, though it may be my task.

Hi, zeeky. I saw your thread about 100% FF6. It was locked, so I’ll reply here. In my opinion, it’s natural that everyone starts to think about 100% run, so did I. To think it honestly, however, other bosses are to be beaten by ES/777, V/D or like something. They may look cheaper way and repetitive. Even worth, movie itself would be nearly five hours, which is longer. So I doubt it is entertaining. But if you’d like to do, I’ll support you. I’ve ever seen route and strategy somewhere, maybe on SDA. EDIT: Thanks, sgrunt

Maza: Maybe I had the same problem when I made my FF5/FF6 TAS. So I didn’t switch to a latest version. Warepire: v1.51 doesn’t seem to support text in image. If you check text in image, input display becomes purple. When you make input animation or something, you have to rely on older v1.43, not a latest one. And maybe I should have reported these things.

Derakon: That’s it I’d like to say. Especially, your first rule is important. mklip2001: Yeah, I cut all the random battles which were not necessary. And in my run, I beat bosses legitimately but it’s nearly instant kill because of high damage. Anyway, I’m looking forward to SoM’s TAS, though it’s off the topic. One of the main reason I submitted this run was another person’s TAS on youtube. It was made by non-Japanese and the audience was non-native. So I thought this game was acceptable for non-Japanese. There are many TASes of the games released only in Japan on nicovideo. I think some of them have enough quality to be submitted here. But they are wise enough to understand the Derakon’s first rule. They won’t submit it. I am so Baka that I submitted my run. :P
