I tried to watch it but I get an error every time the movie gets to that first snow level.

I like it. That is weird though about the not walking in a straight line, though it definitely looks cleaner even if it doesn't save a lot of time. Also, nice find on the post in the second to last room.

The SDA run is already there. It got there about a month ago. I couldn't recreate that time but I got the strategies I mentioned to work.

Well I did a reasonable job of using tricks from Kirkq's any% in my speedrun for this game, but the enemy positioning is just too good in this TAS. Plus, you would have to do it SS to keep firepower, which is just unreasonable to ever expect. Keep it up Captain Forehead!

K, working for me now, and it looks awesome. Reminds me why I will never try this on console.

Kirkq, I honestly don't, I just know that somehow I did it without ever having him guard, and almost every hit right on time. I don't know how I did it, but I have the video if it would help. I took a hit or two, but with the fluke that was him not guarding I was more than willing to take it. Just getting the timing of having a bomb there when his invincibility runs out should be easy enough on TAS, but I don't know what triggers him to not guard. . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA5woh8a0-Y Edit: Cool Cave blows mine out of the water.

Bump alert! I don't know if anyone is masochistic enough to do an improvement of this piece of junk game, but if they are than I have several improvements that I've found in the process of improving the SDA run on console. For example, here's a video I did of Jungle Land that is completed in 2:09, 2 seconds faster than bobmario's current TAS. I can't beat any of the other times but I have strategy ideas for Kids Land and Ghost Castle as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2oLoT9CXqI

Even with it being a 100% run it is a waste of time. There's nothing gained from completing it, and there's no way to even go back and see that you completed it. Not that it wouldn't be fun to watch, but you shouldn't do them.

That might be it. What are the correct plug-ins? Edit: Well I got it to start moving but it's horribly out of sync... Edit 2: I found out I was using the wrong Mupen, but now that I'm using the correct Mupen it freezes a few seconds into the movie.

This is frustrating the hell out of me that I can't watch these. What am I doing wrong? I have the recording Mupen, I have the rom, I download the file and try to play it back while checking "open read-only" and get back "Couldn't start playback." I've tried changing it to a .rec file but then I get an error at the bottom saying that I picked the wrong save problem. Can anyone explain this to me?

I didn't get the no bombing the blocks in Junfalls. However I got the Storm Valley shortcut as well as an Eye Snake full of shortcuts and Heaven Sky without the boss ever guarding himself. They all look clean, though you may have better routes for a couple (maybe Mirror Room?). Edit: For any of you that also visit SDA on a regular basis, my run is in verification and would be thankful for any of you that help out with that =)

I'm interested in seeing how you did Move Stone, if you got away with not killing the towers or how many did you have to kill. In a normal run I only found one that isn't going to definitely hit you without going out of the way to avoid fireballs. Edit: I just recorded the segment with Heaven Sky in it and fighting the boss something weird happened: he didn't guard himself one time. He just sat there with his arms open and let me shoot him until he died. Is this a factor that can be manipulated or did I just get really lucky?

You can't skip an enemy... they're worth 100 and they'll set you under a 5, with the exception of marine/jet/slider levels.

Captain Forehead, is there anyway you can get that WIP on Youtube? I'd love to help if I can, but my computer doesn't handle Mupen well at all. It crashes everytime I try to play a video.

Yeah I've had Nitros figured out from your World 1 battle, and gotten 8220s on both fights. I have this fight coming up soon, and I've tested it out. Since he takes one less hit, 8450 is the maximum score, correct? If I can get the towers the rest of the fight is easy.

Thanks a bunch, that Magma Dam shortcut will definitely be in my run. Edit: Actually, I was attempting to see if I could pull this off, and I was too close to the wall to throw a bomb, but I hit the lava and bounced over anyway. I didn't even need the bomb jump.

Oh, and I figured out the Storm Valley trick. I saw the idea of it pretty quickly, it just took me a while to get it right. It's not that hard though, but that level will most likely start a segment. Great find, btw.
