As far as the Black Pudding is concerned, if I jump to attack it I can only hit it once, and I'd spend so much time in the air (only one jump height) that I miss my chance to hit it twice as it does it's little ceiling hop. Also, if I stood right under it and jumped straight up I'd get hit.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say the "traditional" controller will be packed in, as the new SSB (which is the most likely candidate for a pack-in game) will most likely use it.

My guess is, Nintendo will make a controller expansion (e.g. something with easy access to a large number of buttons simultaneously, possibly an arcade-style controller) that the Rev's controller won't be directly involved in for "traditional" fighting games. Can't imagine playing even Smash Bros. on that thing, much less Soul Calibur. I dig the "Sideways NES pad/remote control" design, though, particularly the Power button, which really fits in with its "more like every OTHER electronic hooked up to the TV" design. My only concern is, naturally, losing the remote; the Wavebird didn't have this problem so much because it was big and you had to get up to turn the Cube off. This thing has neither.

The above topic (.99... =1) is the subject of the stupidest argument I ever got in over the internet. Naturally, it was on GameFAQs.

Watching this, I can't help but come to the conclusion that omnipotence makes TJ&E a very boring game.

I'd say it's closer to Lost Vikings than Lemmings, myself, but it's a very nice WIP. Also, I too like Gens better than any of the other emulators.

I don't know if I should link directly to the vids, but here are a couple forum topics related to a very cool vid: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=516492&topic=22905957 http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=48700 And a TAS of the first level in "adventure" mode: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=54449

I'm only familiar with the Genesis version, myself (being a big Sega fanboy back in the day), which has 180 levels (there's an added SUNSOFT difficulty on top of "Present")

Generally I don't use guides for games like Zelda, and only when I'm truly "okay, I'm stuck, I've poked at everything I think I can, and I don't want to spend another hour figuring it out" I check GameFAQs.

Do a Medium, no-bonus run (the most "strategic," I think), then do a Hard 100% run (all cool points).

Do what I did runs of: semi-obscure games from your childhood. In general, though, I find the simpler movement is (and to a lesser extent attacking), the easier it will be to run. Just don't make the same mistake I did and do incredibly simple games like World of Illusion. :P

Er, no, that's not quite what I meant. I mean the game's controls are different based on whether you have a 3-button or 6-button controller. And from what I can tell the 3-player mode only works properly with three 3-button controllers.

Lost Vikings can be done with 3-button controllers. It just remaps the controls if you're using 6 buttons.

I *highly* reccommend leveling. Boss battles will last for a very long time otherwise.

"Segmented" runs (and basically any game that has both random elements and saving) manipulate luck to a certain extent, although that's usually not the solitary reason to do so. One fairly typical example is saving near a betting house in GTA:SA and betting all your money on the worst horse, loading until you've increased your wealth by an order of magnitude then repeating the process (although the game usually stops letting you win by the second or third iteration).

It's better than most of the godawful crap out there, which isn't saying much.

I would like to suggest that the subject be dropped for the sake of civility. Please?

The Shining Force 1 topic is here, I am not involved, but interested nontheless, even if it does turn out to be 4+ hours. I keep toying with the idea of a Shadowrun run. The problems are, you want/need lots of money and exp, and the luck is a ***** to manipulate (it's not done on the fly like most games). Early attempts at Castlevania: Bloodlines were plagued with desyncs. I don't know if that's still the case, but everyone who previously worked on it quit a long time ago. Ecco topic is here. The WIP is awesome, and the game ought to be completed.

Link? In SSB? Cheap? More like terrible. Quite possibly the worst character in the game. Terrible recovery, drops like a rock, can't combo at all, and pretty slow on top of it all. (commence topic derailment)

Oh, for those curious, I've been messing around with maps of the special levels. A fast reminder of the frame system: Turns are 12 frames, each square is at between 8 and 12 frames. Maps taken from GameFAQs.

Here's how I see S3&K: The S3 run alone deserves a star, as does the S&K run. Mix 'em together and take away a star for being too long, and you're left with one star.

Okay, time for an episode of The Good, the Bad, and the Nitpicky. The Good: Weapon management is teh awesome. Shows off what you have and doesn't waste ammo. The tri-shot is a little overused, I think, but whatever. No glaringly bad errors and not a boring game. The Bad: Feels like it needs more attention to detail. Things which need to be done repeatedly (jumping up a set of stairs, for example) feels like it could be done faster. The vehicle levels don't clear corners smoothly. The nitpicky: Killing stuff that doesn't need to be killed is a waste of (admittingly plentiful) ammo. item use is a little questionable; At one point you use an umbrella to start floating long before you need to. Avoiding damage sometimes feels like an unneccessary wait. Random question: Which is faster, climbing or jumping ladders? Totally random comment: Man, I had no idea the game was so long... Final verdict: Borderline yes/meh. Looks like it gets better as it goes on. Probably won't live up to most others' standards. A second time around to fix all the tiny little mistakes, with or without taking damage, would earn a more yeslike yes from me.

I dunno, considering how quickly I seem to be able to die in that game, health management would be more impressive. (watching the run now)

I usually use the phrase "theoretical perfection" when explaining this to somebody, so I second the "what-if" option.
