I'm with the mindset of a few people here that this run should not have come out now, it should have had more research done, and waited for the SDA runs to come to a halt (which it is going to reach very soon - we're running out of tricks) to have all the known tricks out, and then made a TAS that would be unmatched.
The status of the run at SDA has little to no bearing on whether a run should be published here, IMO.

It's not James Bond, it is Batman, and it is from American Psycho.

a 2h30m avi can easily look ok at 400MB if encoded with x264 3-pass at 320x240. My ganon video a few pages back was 300kbit/s ad looked fine, a 400MB avi would be 350kbits. for capturing, it should be 640x480 with nothing, or 320x240 with antialiasing. I'm not getting the video and I can't encode one myself because of a desync on child gerudo/colossus. Just trying to help the next one who wants to try to make an avi that will be accepted.
Did you already try? Your Ganon video looked more than acceptable.

I keep asking myself, "How can Genesis music be worse than NES music?"
Just credit that to the BLAST PROCESSING.

angerfist, to me that is boring , I rather play the game then watch someone go through all the temples. TAS runs are suppose to be fast and a lot of cool things are suppose to happen.
Yeah well, the fastest A Link to the Past run is pretty boring compared to the all temple one wouldn't you agree?

the big whole-game avi's won't be out till tomorrow or something so I took the liberty of doing just the final part starting from the provided savestate, up to and including the credits. Near 24 minutes, 72 MB. (obviously more compressed than my last 82MB 13min vid since I was told 320x240 is the preferred format). Enjoy and thanks again GuanoBowl. http://rapidshare.de/files/27732277/ootend-tas.mkv.html
Many thanks to you.

As far as techniques to save time go, back-walking in my opinion is a hell of a lot less disorienting than some of the stuff people do to those poor old NES games.

However, considering this site, the chance of that being done in the published .avi is none.
Yeah that's what I meant. A shame really.

Is there anyone working on a fix to that white-screen stuff anyway? It's a shame that a run of such high quality is marred by that crap so often.

I'm simply shocked someone managed to even finish a run of Earthbound.

If you saw the 70 star run, some people actually thought it was a TAS because they couldn't believe it was a single segment speed run.
I also remember when the guy who did that stuff saw some of the real TAS stuff he was quite disheartened, and his run is one of the very best SDA has to offer.

I'm sure some of you know and some don't, anyway there's a guy over at SDA who's working on a 120 star single segment run, and he's gotten 2:17 in a test run with deaths and huge mistakes and stuff. He's going for sub 2:15. Sounds extremely fantastic to be just 5 minutes short of FODA's test run.
This doesn't add up to me, especially since seeing FODA's wips and how spectacular they are. Maybe the guy is just insanely skilled. Guess we'll see.

I'll try to make an avi, update in a bit. edit: Alright, I can do it but the quality will be like this. If there's demand for it I'll do it.
