...well, yes. http://www.metroid2002.com/version_differences_version_number.php The one I used was DOL-GM8E-0-00. Which is really the only version that should ever be used.

I can't test it right now (on my laptop) but you should post the sha1/md5 hash of your ISO, because Metroid Prime has three different versions, which all have differences, specifically regarding space jump early.
I...don't actually know what those are. But as I specified in my above post, it's v1.0 (also called 0-00). The only one you can scan dash in. Well, that's not strictly true, as you can scan dash in v1.1, too, but the only known version difference in v1.1 isn't relevant to this.

Also, info about what revision you're using would help - there have been some significant changes internally over the past couple of days.
It's the r7144 that was posted in the main topic.

OK, another test http://www.mediafire.com/?ps3aa87yd2pdtib The above contains a memory card and a dtm for Metroid Prime v1.0. The movie should work if the memory card is in slot A. It depicts Space Jump First.

Well, I'll have to try it out myself once r7141 gets built. If this works, we have sync, we have frame advance, and we have rerecording. It looks as though the era of GCN TASes is upon us.

OK, this is pretty awesome. Got 6300 frames of Metroid Prime playback to sync perfectly. However, I'm still having a problem with savestates and Dolphin not taking input after loading one. This is kind of important to making rerecording work, so I'd like to know what can be done about this. Also, hotkeys stop working for me if I don't switch over to the main Dolphin window. Any ideas why?

I still don't understand what causes...that to happen, but it's far too hilarious to vote no.

Dying for Pie was always one of my favorites. It's the one where Spongebob eats a pie that was actually a bomb.

Avatar the Last Airbender Invader Zim Rocko's Modern Life Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide (this show was far better than I ever expected it to be) Spongebob Squarepants (earlier seasons) And, well, pretty much everything Electrospecter said.

I must say, I'm surprised that it's faster to catch Mewtwo from the Unknown Dungeon rather than to glitch him. Especially because Mewtwo is an option for the Missingno. Glitch.

OK, I've been trying this, and while I can get recordings to sync, I'm having a bit of trouble with the rerecording part. Every time I load a state, it stops taking my inputs. This kind of puts a damper on any attempt to make any sort of TAS. Any advice on how to fix this?

could this be used to leave Outset without getting on the pirate ship at the very beginning of the game? Or perhaps skip the sail in windfall island? Or, in general, could this be used to get past those annoying moments when the KoRL tells you not to go this way and turn back?

Even if you decide to write your own book and you accidentally make an exact copy (for the sake of argument, in court, a rough copy will usually do) of a book you've never even heard of, it's still copyright infringement.
I don't believe it is, actually. You'd have one hell of a hard time proving that you happened to independently come up with such a similar result, but if you did manage to do so, it would not be infringement. There would be no theft of intellectual property. However, in the real world, so to speak, it would almost certainly be trademark infringement. And that would shut you down real good.

Ah...about that. The daybreak cutscene skip only partially works on the turtle cutscene. What happens if you do the skip is that the cutscene doesn't play, but the turtle also doesn't appear. However, if you play the NWBN again, it will use the shortened cutscene that it uses after you've seen the cutscene once. I have no idea whether it would be better to SoDT to daybreak and SoDT to night to skip the cutscene, use the daybreak skip, or possibly just wait it out depending on what time it is. BTW, by my timing, the SoDT takes ~16 seconds, the day change scene takes ~3 seconds, and the "Dawn of the Xth day" title card also takes ~3 seconds. EDIT: OK, the above isn't correct. Dawn of the Xth Day takes 7 seconds, not 3.

More cutscene skips! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7A5Dd7BOYk Hopefully Grunz will be near a skippable cutscene when dawn of the second day arrives. This would be so much more useful with the Sun's Song.

Marin ending is fine, I suppose, but I'd rather see the 12 pictures.

Cutscene skip! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wa5ND9HAbr4 That's pretty much a free 1:00 off the run. Bizarrely, every other song-learning scene gives you the song after you play it on the staff. Nor can you pause in any of them.

Synx, Grunz may be a bit jealous here, but his assessment is fairly accurate. The question remains whether those shortcomings are enough to warrant rejection should abeshi choose to submit. Also, I noticed he was using a really bad graphics plugin to make that encode. It concerns me that the video might not sync with Jabo's 1.6, should the need for us to encode it arrive.

I decided to actually find y(x) explicitly in the above problem. I'm not going through the derivation, but suffice to say you can do it without transforming to polar coordinates. If the boat starts at (a, z*a) and the velocity ratio is R = w/v, then we have... y(x) = x * (z * cosh(R * ln(a/x)) + sqrt(1 + z2) * sinh(R * ln(a/x))) If R <1> 0. The trajectory will arrive at the origin. If R > 1, then the sinh and cosh terms dominate, and the trajectory diverges from the origin. If R = 1, then the two influences cancel each other out. The trajectory arrives at the y-axis, but not at the origin.

While we're on the subject of differential equations, here's a problem I came across... Consider the following differential equation in 3 dimensions. D2 is the Laplacian operator, and x is the coordinate vector. - D2f(x) + |x|2 f(x) = (2n + 3) f(x) Those who know quantum mechanics will recognize this as a modified version of Schrodinger's equation for the isotropic quantum harmonic oscillator. And, in particular, that it only has square integrable solutions for nonnegative n. However, f(x) = |x|-1 e-|x|2/2 is square integrable. -Inf/Inf f(x)2 d3x = 0/Inf-1/10/2 pi |x|-2 e-|x|2 |x|2 dp d cos(t) d|x| = 4 pi 0/Inf e-x2 dx = 2 pi3/2 Now try plugging it into the equation and see what you get. Seems like a solution with n = -1, doesn't it? It's not. Why not?

So, a guy named SKJmin made a hack of NSMB that's a remake of Super Mario Bros 3. It also has a bunch of bonus levels, though I haven't reached them in my playthrough yet. Still, the hack is quite extensive, and might make for a good TAS. You can find a trailer and a download here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nd2gtBhgwQM Edit by a moderator: I merged this post to the existing thread.

According to gia, Yellow, Blue and Red are all the same (they use the same route in the save-corruption category) with small exceptions. Yellow has one extra tile on the map, and Red has the shortest name for the rival (making Red the 'best' version of the three). However, Red and Blue seem to lag more so that makes Yellow the 'best' version. Please point out if I made any mistakes in my statement.
The extra tile thing no longer applies. It referred to the tall grass outside of Pallet, but the TAS doesn't go there.

Voted no. Doesn't really bring anything new to the table, and the Yellow run is superior in both WTF factor and time.
