The problem is that I'm terrible with words. I can't "write" code. I tend to lose track of big sequences after a while. Also when we learn to program we do programs to convert celsius to fahrenheit, to sort objects, etc. That's really dumb. Games are the only thing that interests me.

Hah, yeah. But is it really fast enough? I remembered that each screen freezing costs 100 frames. Yeah, I was thinking about gatting potions from the bats too. Maybe we need 3? One to replace the pot roast, one to replace that one near marble gallery amd one for that extra damage. I remember that we usually drop many of them at the same time. Important:Ah, check the RAM Watch file. A little after I posted that message I found the real addresses for X and Y positions. I'm updating the message now. I also sorted them better, putting the boss HP values to the left. Anyway, something: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-hYBIMpCEA

here's a quick and sloppy try, with dhalsim. Ah, it starts from a savestate... you don't need the iso to watch it. Just play it with any cd or without any and it works!

I didn't test, but I really don't see any difference. Yeah maybe it doesn't consume MP, but it doesn't raise Alucard any higher, and the thrust attack is used only for holding Alucard in the same height. And where would we find a fist of tulkas at this time of the day? Anyway: I'm working with arukAdo on this no bat thing, so here's something for anyone interested: Memory Addresses for the RAM Watch. A few notes: X and Y position: They're 4-byte values, but I only watch the lower word. It's useful to measure movement speed and achieve precise improvements. Because the game updates the position in a frame and draws on the next, it's not always possible to notice a difference by comparing screens. X and Y speed: Unreliable. They show vague values, like the speed you SHOULD be moving at. It would look better if we could view them as SIGNED values... let's hope that mz reads this message :D Invulnerability: The invulnerability timer, triggered by scripted actions, spells and when you're damaged. Disabled control: Not 100% reliable, because it's not refreshed every frame. When this timer is greater than 1, all input except START and SELECT is ignored. If it's frozen to 1 (via cheats), the buttons are still locked although the D-PAD works (and for some extravagant reason, shields too), but intermittently. Only when it's equal to 0 you can move freely. In game, once it's shown as 0 it enables the directional pad (and shields) in a frame and the buttons in the next. Loading times not affected, obviously. I haven't found the cutscene on/off switch as yet. Loading U/D - L/R: Guess. Various and sundry STATS in CAPS: Used for quick manipulation, without checking the menu. The EXP is not really necessary, but I often forget it so it's there. RNG: Almost unecessary because it's always active, but we never know. Since the emulator cannot watch LONGS I split it in two WORDS. And... Here's my test version. hmm, there's a lot of study to be done but I decided not to get the potion at the end of the labs (it's a bit out of the way), and drop 2 barley teas or morning sets. I know it's difficult, but I 'll try anyway. I just hope that if I accomplish it, the EXP difference doesn't provoke undesired modifications in the future. If anything doesn't go as intended I'll use arukAdo's old scheme. EDIT: Updated the RAM addresses.

I'm jealous. I always wanted to learn some programming language, but all thanks to my arrogance and wilfulness, my brain survived school and I ended up really "right-minded". Actually this is not a problem, because real life is almost all the time NOTHING about linear thinking and the problems we face don't come with decent rules but it's somewhat difficult for me to think one step at a time, in following sequences item by item. I just can't stand the slow pace and lose interest fast. There's no game as boring as chess. I like to calculate things fast (faster than most "rational" guys... I don't bother anymore trying to convince these people because it's so amusing to see their unconfessed but evident grudge against me when they finally find out I was right from the beginning and they just wasted their time... fighting for a lost cause... hah!), I like to look at the whole problem (and at various unrelated problems too, because one of those questions could very well be an answer), holistically, having insights (it's a rush), calculate it all mostly based on intuition rather than solid and carefully verified bases... and that's something difficult to do by looking at the long lines of ordinary high level source code. Unless someone comes up with a language that uses cute IMAGES instead of ugly WORDS (or some tool that can convert boring text to interesting graphics) I can't get involved. Recently I started messing with Game Maker. Even though I often yawn when I'm using it, I must admit the the drag n drop method is interesting and I can usually tell what a piece of code does just by taking a glance at the action icons. Maybe once I'm accostumed with it, I'll be able to read some of the written code because I'll see the words and think of images in my mind. Maybe I can even empty a swimming pool using a dropper... Ah, I'm tired of this message

Also, Derakon... I guess in a real game the spaceship should be able to fight back... this looks more like a demo than a finished game.

Yeah, bullet hells require concentration instead of a good memory.

hmm... only if you play on easy mode. Bullet hells are WAY harder than simple shooters. Gradius is hard because everytime you die you lose your powerups and your ship becomes a slow piece of crap. Once you memorize the level, it becomes lame.

It's all about the random number generator. It seems that SotN is similar to AoS, and the RNG is activated only when needed. But fortunately SotN uses it A LOT, for graphic effects. In the rare cases where there's nothing random happening, waiting will be useless because the RNG won't change. A new number is generated also when we use an attack and when we pull the shield out.
