Anyway, I started this thread with the purpose of making some kind of brainstorm. Which means that certain expressions, such as "it's not going to work", "it's not possible" or "someone already tried that before" are forbidden. People should expose their ideas without criticizing anyone else.

for example, if it's a megaman game. if there was a way to skip the levels and warp directly to the bosses, it wouldn't break anything, because the bosses are the essential part of the game. the abilities are not, I guess.

You know... it's obvious that it'll never be defined what is a concept demo, and most people don't really like the way some runs are treated. I'd suggest that there should be 2 main cathegories: one for "normal" runs (where the game script is followed, i.e. beginning - middle - end), and another for "broken" runs (like zelda alltp, cv:cotm, cv:hod-maxim or the weird smb "-1 world" and so on) where the game is finished, but in any different fashion. The "abuse programming errors" doesn't say too much, you know... and the concept thing should be reserved for hacks. I hope I'm not making another useless topic, like the previous ones.

OK... it was my fault. I shouldn't make an invisible link... heheh Here is my current WIP. This is likely to be the last WIP before the submission. I hope you like it. ZeroSeven, your run looks quite good. You should take more care with the slides. You know... there's is a short pause when you hit something or between two consecutive slides. Slides can be cancelled into jumps or uppercuts 3 frames before they hit the enemy, and they'll still hit. Also, jumps and uppecuts can be cancelled into drop kicks... and drop kicks can be cancelled into slides... and so on.

If you've read some faqs, you know that the random behaviour of the game is somewhat predictable (you can control which item will be dropped by the enemies). Maybe that works for random battles too.
