Undine is not necessary, since I can warp to Claihm. but it's still too far away

Claimh Solais is good in a normal game, but in a TAS nothing beats Gungner and Final Sword

I was talking about that BIG rooms that you have to go through... they're really boring, so I thought you could skip some and reach the bosses faster

Hey, OgreSlayerR... I had not seen that glitched run before... It's the BEST CotM run you've ever done! I'll keep that one! Heheh... But why there's no super glitch in this new run? I know it can be used in other places, but I don't know the game, so I don't know if there are shortcuts.

There are more glitches, but I could not use them in this run. And I'm currently trying find a way to get Black Panther without getting into that horrid Graham fight... (that's why I don't do a Julius run) The silver handgun can be rapid fired, but it's not TOO useful, because it hits only one enemy at once, even if they are at the very same place. Till now, the best weapons are Ronginus Spear, Gungner and the Final Sword.

This is not my favourite, but the run is really awesome. I don't understand this game perfectly, but why didn't you use the "Super Glitch"? It's so cool...

That's when glitches come in hand. I'll spend some time with researching and experiments to find the best route. And of course I'll use more souls, and the run will get more interesting. And Bag, the revenge could be a "no" vote on the next submission.

The Positron Rifle is extremely powerful... it would make the run a little easier. And the hardest weapon to get is Valmanway, but this one is extremely weak, and would make the run too hard. And don't forget the movie must be entertaining. Speed is required, but it's not my main goal.

I'll never make a glitch run in normal mode because it will be so fast it will look ridiculous. Don't regret anything. Wait until I submit a new run and get your revenge.

If you had played this game before, you'd see the things in other way... I think it a "meh" would be better than a "no" (or "yes") in your case. I understand your opinion. I feel exactly the same way about most of the 8-bit runs (especially RPGS). I love NES and GB games, but they LOOK (in most of the cases) way to simple and extremely easy to glitch and manipulate, and I usually find them really boring. Of course, that's my lame opinion, and can't be changed.

Well, Atma has answered most of the questions.. Thanks! Most of the apparent sloppyness in the run comes from luck manipulation, like when I'm at the arena, returning from the battle with Balore, and I lose some time killing a Skull Millione. I had to do that. The random number generator doesn't work all the time in that room, so I kill the enemy and when it dies it generates random flames that activate the RNG, and I can manipulate the luck and get the Blocking Mail from the Dead Crusader. And I'm planning another run, this time it will use many more glitches and will aim for 100% soul completion. But that requires more experimentation to find the best routes, so it will take some time... This time I'll be more cautious and avoid making it lokking sloppy... hehe And I'm seriously thinking about making it in Hard Mode again! hahaha....

If you have doubts about the SRAM, do the following: *play Atma's video *when the staff roll ends, press A to reset the game *delete the saved game Now go to your SRAM folder ("Battery" folder) and move that file to a test folder. *start my run go to the SRAM folder, rename the file and move it to the test folder. *now compare the files using Hexworkshop or something like that You'll see they are the same

When I finish my AoS run. I think I´ll make a Gunstar Future Heroes one. It´s really really awesome.

I didn´t say "don´t try to use them in your runs". I said "don´t try to steal". And it´s true that you created the backdashing technique. Although I have tried that on the gba before I find this forum (of course it´s not possible in real time), you were the first one to use it.

I don´t have anything REALLY relevant to write right now... I thought about write more about my scripted battle with Manticore, but it´s something rather complicated and I´m too lazy to explain (since I don´t understand it completely...) What should I do? I´ll gloat over my run! (just a little bit...) --It´s in Hard Mode! (but this game is the easier castleroid for the gba...) --No boring chat lag! Since there´s SRAM, I skip the conversations. --And at last, but not least, fantastic techniques! Besides the popular backdash-and-jump, I´ve introduced faster combos, faster slope climbing and a double-backdash (this last one is not that fantastic...) [these were my creations, don´t try to steal!] STAY TUNED ^_^

qqwref, It seems you have experienced the hatred that consumes the guys who attempt to collect Manticore´s soul at the first time they see it... Last night I did some google search and found the great Red Stars page. What´s curious is that the guy that wrote it is a member here too, and he wrote a link to this forum, exactly to Zurreco´s thread. Well, since I haven´t read that thread (mainly to avoid been called "leech" or something worse by some finicky people that frequent these neighborhoods) I would never know that. Anyway, the trouble comes from the "seed' that sometimes in the game, like the Manticore battle, only changes in 4 cases (I think): --When soma attacks (even if he hits nothing) --When soma backdashes (changes 3 times, if you let he complete the animation) --When soma inflicts any damage to an enemy --When an enemy decides its action (or just walks, sometimes) In these cases, grabbing souls can be a real pain. Even if you don´t understand what the hell that means, open the vba memory viewer and select "wram" form the dropdown menu and look at the first line of bytes. The first one (02000000) is the timer, and the ones from 02000008 to 0200000b are the seed. The faster they change, the faster you get rare things.

I´ve planned another glitched route that could reach Chaos faster, but I´ve not tested it yet cuz it´s not possible in Hard Mode. But I´ll check it now.

STRAIGHTFORWARD this time: If 10 guys play Aria, and finish the game, 9 will certianly say "Wow, really cool game... but... perhaps it should be a little harder?" What I´m trying to say is that Normal mode in this game equals to EASY mode, or PRACTICE mode. Just like a training for the Hard one, which is the real thing.

Gunstar Heroes is a completely different case, and that hard mode comments may apply there. Castlevania is an action game with RPG elements. In Gunstar, you have the same weapons from the beggining to the end of the game, and that´s all. In Castlevania you may grow stronger by defeating great enemies. But in hard mode that strategy will change, since if a certain enemy gets too strong, it should not be worth the time it´ll be spent to slay it. But you still need the exp so maybe you can get it from various weak enemies instead of a single one. That changes the gameplay.

Many people say:"Only an idiot would choose hard mode! It offers nothing! It just makes the run slower!" Well, from our bible, the "Why and How": ----------------------------------------------- A movie is entertaining when it is: * Interesting (not slow, boring, or repetitive) * Surprising (does the unexpected) * Skillful (handles awkward situations efficiently and creatively) and there´s more: Art Although most of our movies intend to play games as fast as possible (tool assisted speedruns, if you will), with respect to art, our main goal is to create movies that are beautiful to watch. We are a diverse community, and each of us has different opinions as to what can be considered art, but in general, we value creativity, variability, surprising outcomes, and speed. ------------------------------------------- Now, why would I choose normal mode when there´s a hard one? Even if it´s all about making the enemies more resistant, it makes the game harder. This leads to another conclusion: if there was a third difficulty level called "SISSY", where the enemies would automtically die when you enter the rooms? I suppose these people might think that would be the best mode to make a TAS...

I´ve made that TAS the fast I could. As you can easily notice, I´ve not put lots of thought into it. Now I´m working on the definitive one. But I´ll only show it when it´s finished. The new one is totally different from that old one.
