I don't feel this game has a significant amount of technical merit or entertainment value. As such, I can't think of a reason why even a completely perfect run of this game would be enjoyable in any sense. I must vote no.

Perhaps the branch name needs to be "no warps", then. I realise it's a little misleading, but it would be consistent with the "Maxim no warps" run.

There's an extra , in the lime immediately above that one.

I'm going to guess that your video's in multiple parts for this. So, here's what I would do: 1) extract the audio track from each part of the video individually; 2) use SoX to stick them together. You'll also need to account for the logo delay; you can use SoX to create a silence track of the appropriate length: sox -s -2 -c 2 -r 48000 -n silence.wav synth 2 vol 0 ...then combine that with the rest of the files: sox silence.wav part1.wav part2.wav [...other parts...] sdaudio.wav

Ah, I somehow misread that. It would be easy to add a subtitle track into an mkv (no re-encoding is necessary). If you identify a video for which you want that to be done, post in the discussion thread for that movie. EDIT: this discussion has diverged from the movie discussion and I've split it into its own thread.

Why? The commentary track can easily be disabled in any reasonable media player.

the policy on necroposting
I'm not aware of any such policy. In fact it's generally encouraged where there's pertinent new information (such as encodes of previously unmirrored/unstreamed movies). Please take specific issues with those runs' commentary tracks or lack thereof to those threads.

The encode linked on that page also contains subtitles in the same fashion that this movie's encode contains subtitles. If you can't see them, it's a problem with your player.

In 1-1, at least, it's so that he can pull the POW block from that screen into the next room. (I'd have to go and look at 1-2 again.)

I haven't watched this as yet, but I do want to point out a couple of things in response to discussion that's taken place: 1) In the Earthbound run, the debug code isn't meant to be accessible (a glitch had to be used to activate it). Here, that isn't the case. 2) With respect to the aforementioned Gradius run by Morimoto, as adelikat has stated on several occasions previously, making what might now be considered a mistake at the time does not excuse making the same mistake now (not to mention the movie itself precedes the existence of the site).

Is this a movie you recorded yourself? Is it for GameCube or Wii? Are your emulator settings consistent with whatever movie you're playing back? The only circumstance I'm aware of where playback can crash Dolphin is attempting to play back a Wii run that contains both GameCube controller and Wiimote input. If you're trying to record a Wii run, turn off the GC controller before recording it.

Why? This is going to increase the file size substantially for a difference most people won't be able to hear.

I did confirm that the timing was correct before starting to upload this encode. :)

Prompted by dunnius' note, I've discovered that mkvmerge managed to mux the .ass incorrectly - I'm uploading a corrected version of the encode-with-subtitles now. That having been said, I'm confused about the timing being off on the YouTube encode. The positioning issues I can understand (YouTube doesn't support advanced subtitle formats that allow for positioning), but the timing's identical to my own subtitle file and it should display correctly...

The subtitles were done as softsubs - they *should* scale with the window size - VLC just happens to render subtitles before scaling for some reason. I'm looking into solutions.

About Undie's encode though, did anyone else notice an A/V sync issue that becomes especially apparent after 30:00? I tried it in Totem and VLC, and in both it seems like the audio is at least a second ahead of the video.
Confirmed. If memory serves, this is a snes9x bug with AVI dumping when using a 32kHz sampling rate (we normally use 48kHz to avoid this problem).

I asked. He denied all knowledge of the other accounts. ---- This thread has gone on long enough. I do not want attention focused on banned users - in most cases it's exactly what they want.

That's up to the viewer to decide (it's in the encoding guidelines to include the full ending). In any case, I have an encode uploading with the full ending and the .ass subtitles (note that the version I posted earlier assumes the absence of an encoder logo; I'll upload the logo-timing-correct version of the subtitles once the encode itself finishes uploading). EDIT: Here's the aforementioned encode: http://www.mediafire.com/?cj6j4qc2cq3vjy1

Undie, you've cut the ending off in your encode. Why?

Most of the more recent accounts that led to this being noticed in the first place were created shortly after the last of the old set of accounts was banned.

I think this sticks out to me as the most noticeable screenshot (admittedly, it looks like there's a lot more going on there than there actually is, but it still gives the impression of action).

I took the time to convert the subtitles into an ASS-format subtitle file; I think this should be muxed into whatever encode people come up with.

The encode scripts we use for HD encodes normally adjust the FPS of the video to 30 fps - the use of 30fps is, of course, a problem in this case, so we usually use another fps value (24-25) in these cases. Clearly, the encoder forgot to do that in this case.
