Thank you, 24-hour Wal-Mart Supercenter for selling Brawl to me at midnight (along with about 15 other customers in a sleepy college town). Lucas plays better than Ness, I'm liking Ike almost as much as Marth, Kirby is more useful than he was in Melee, and Pit is a welcome addition. With the neighbors that I have in this complex, I'll probably unlock the majority of the roster in vs matches alone. I'm not a goofy FOX ONLY, NO ITEMS, FINAL DESTINATION sort of player, so I appreciate all that's gone into this game in particular. Melee will continue to hold a special place in my heart, but I dig what they've done here. I'm also happy that Hyrule Castle is back, though I think I'm probably the only one who is.

After 13 straight hours of brawl, I have concluded that it is everything I hoped it would be. The only real disappointment is seeing marth still in the game!
Marth > Roy. I used to use Marth whenever someone would start bitching about me using Link.

In theory, if the author of the movie used Rice's video plugin, you'd be fine. Otherwise, it would more than likely cause desyncs.

Adventures of Kid Kleets? I know it can't be Adventures of Batman & Robin, Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle, or Adventures of Tintin. And going by your description, I doubt it's Adventures of Dr. Franken. There aren't any other games for SNES that start with 'Adventure', barring unforeseen pirate software.

It's possible, it's been done, and nobody likes watching it because it's too slow.

No, I think I know the game he's talking about, but I can't think of the name of it, either. I just remember seeing the ads many years ago. Something about using your friends (in reference to the monster). If I remember correctly, the name made me think of Bubble Bobble, but I don't recall why.

Hooray! And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats- Er... this was a pleasant surprise, indeed. Hopefully this will alleviate some infighting. Glee!

Ten might be too much, but at least 3-4 are due. Basically, we don't even have PS1 TASing yet, let alone PS2 that's harder to emulate.
Which is actually why I said ten. Ten years ago, PS1 emulation was about where PS2 emulation is right now.

Could someone tell me how to attach a file to this post so I can show what I've done so far?
This works. Also, trying to make the impossible possible by intentionally ignoring the premise of the run doesn't make for a particularly good movie. But if you enjoy doing it, who am I to stop you?

Not close at all. PS2 emulation is often too slow on even AMD X2 and Intel Core2 with current-gen vidcards, and there aren't many games that run with acceptable accuracy. Ontop of that, savestate support does not exist currently. Try again in ten years.

Erm. Doesn't the latest 1.43 improvement add the graphical advances of 1.51 anyway? I'd be in favor of 1.51 more readily if it would at least accept the input files of 1.43, instead of having to juggle multiple versions of the same emulator for all the runs on this site. Until then, it's just Betamax vs VHS. But if the run's already started, the run's already started.

The two simple ends to the argument (in-game time category, or in-game going to concept demos) haven't been accepted, so apparently, the solution is to bicker about it every time it comes up. If nobody is willing to appease, this will just continue ad nauseum, complete with personal attacks on taste and character. Requesting divine intervention, please?

Whoops, I completely forgot to add my yes vote. :x 'Twas a good excuse to use my desktop for something other than music for a change.

Outside of my intentionally bogging down my ancient desktop with visual effects to play Tetris Attack in slow motion, my first formal experience with a TAS was an AVI of an old Rockman 2 Famtasia run several years ago. It was sent to me by a friend on IRC, and at the time, we both believed we were watching someone with considerable skill playing in realtime. The next day, he said something along the lines of, "he programmed an emulator to run an input macro, it's not really him playing" and produced an archive with Famtasia and the movie file. A couple weeks later, Morimoto's SMB3 movies surfaced, and searching for more material, I found this site, and proceeded to lurk for a good three years or so before joining. I spent a lot of time working on SMW and Super Metroid myself, but gave up on Super Metroid when the physics manipulation got to be too ridiculous for me to have the patience to bother with, and perfectionist that I am, I never felt that anything I did with SMW was worthy of attention. To that end, I've just been content to enjoy the work of others, instead.

Having a Roman god, gas giant, vehicle make, dwarf creature who speaks in BOING, and 32-bit console of bizarre architecture all named after him. :o

The emulator I used didn't have slowdown, so the thing I did to slow the game down was to crank up all the settings so that my computer couldn't handle it anymore.
Haha, I did the same thing on my ancient desktop while playing Tetris Attack back when I first discovered emulation. I didn't realize I was TASing at the time, but it was fun to create chains I'd never hit otherwise in slow motion. I never really considered applying the slowdown method to other games until years later when the first tool-assisted videos started popping up.

IX had a wonderful soundtrack, beautiful scenery, the card game wasn't trash, and Vivi is one of my favorite characters to come from the series. That's about all I can say for its good points, though. I'm still miffed that the only other character I liked right off, Beatrix, is barely there. Then again, I was upset over the small amount of time you had with Edea in VIII, and I still consider it my favorite of the Sony era. And it would seem that this ROM does indeed run on FCEU. Good to know.

Nobody's code is perfect. Though I do admit that Nintendo's 1st party software does tend to experience a thorough raping of the physics models, compared to their contemporaries. Not always true, of course, but yeah.

You're not missing anything in IX. You wander around for a bit, then face off against an unexplained villian who serves no purpose in the story. Steiner decides to stop being an insufferable moron afterward, for reasons equally unknown. The end. And VIII basically tries to remake the first Final Fantasy's ending. VIII was actually my favorite of the Sony era Final Fantasies, and I know I'm all alone on that one. VII was VII. I don't even think you really need to play the game to have perfect understanding of every intricate detail, the way people talk about the thing.

I don't remember ever being forced into diagonal jumping on the console. I remember inventing lots of new curse words while looking straight down at the ground and using the map to make the ridiculous jumps, but I'm fairly certain I made every one moving straight forward. Had to tie the controller to my hand to prevent it from taking flight like a majestic eagle, though.

I haven't tried running it in FCEU yet (on the grounds that it was stated in the article to only work on a hacked version of VirtuaNES), but I did grab it a couple days ago. For recycling a lot of FFIII, it isn't a terrible restructuring of VII. If it does run in FCEU, it might be worth watching.
