You can get stuck in the walls in Super Metroid (which is actually how you go about accomplishing the NBMB run), but it isn't beneficial from a timesaving standpoint at any time, and certainly not from an entertainment standpoint.

Entertained? Why, yes. I'm always happy to watch a new Super Metroid run; as well as I know the game, I cannot even begin to have the patience to mess with an honest TAS of it myself, so I just live vicariously through the likes of you. Wonderful technique, great fun to watch, and whether it's accepted or not, I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. Good work.

Master difficulty on Ludicrous speed, all Supreme Victories would be desirable. I'd definitely watch it, if nothing else.

I think there was a button cheat for unlocking all the options menus, but I may just be thinking of the way the demo pattern changed depending on which menu item you highlighted. Or maybe it was a Gameshark code... >.> Edit: Bonus Options At the character biographies, press the following to open up the Level 1 through 5 options: Z, B, A, L, A, Z

I suppose if you wanted to demonstrate ludicrous combos and fatalities/humiliations, it might be worth a look. Unfortunately, I fear that a tool-assisted run under normal play would still look less impressive than what you can do on the console after unlocking all of the secret options menus, 'cheating' or no.

I was wondering if different year numbers of Madden count?
I'm pretty sure that would fall under the GGX/SFII stipulation. Although, I do own Super Street Fighter II four times (Genesis, SNES, PSX, GBA), which is probably worth counting because it is one specific version, as opposed to retool add-on nonsense (though I do own each of those, as well >.>). Under that stipulation, I don't add SFAC to the list, or it would be the only game I own on five consoles.

Well, if we're counting multiple versions of the same cart on a platform, I can add OoT (grey 1.1, gold 1.0, OoT/MQ, collector's disc) and SMB (standalone, SMB/DH, SMB/DH/WCTM, SMAS, Wii VC) to the list.

Let's see... Mortal Kombat: Super Nintendo Genesis Game Gear Sega CD Mortal Kombat II: Genesis 32X Saturn Super Nintendo I also used to have an arcade board for the first Mortal Kombat, but I never actually had a cabinet to put it in, or even bothered to hook it up to see if it was in working condition. I have no idea where it is now. ... I feel dirty having spent that much money on such a mediocre series. :/

Well, with only 24 seconds to sit through, it wouldn't take an extraordinary amount of time to compare.

Nyet. Remember, this is SMAS, which gives you the ability to revisit worlds. He could simply revisit a cleared map for an extra hammer.

I'll only use it about four-five times. For sure for 1-6, 2-Quicksand, 8-1, and 6-4.
Right, but what I mean is, why only use it then? It would be more logical to either use it to its fullest extent for the purpose of speed, or not use it at all for a glitchless run.

I'd suggest Youtube, in segments. And why remove the L+R glitch only partially?

The sound level is perfect for my laptop's puny speakers. A good portion of YouTube videos are inaudible on my laptop without headphones (or sending to my desktop instead), but yours is exactly where it should be. Blurriness is hard to combat on YouTube, but for what it is, your picture quality is just fine. In other words, keep doing what you're doing.

I just went to go dig out my Uniracers manual, only to realize that I left it in a storage building 600 miles away. :/ It is a great manual, though. It reads something like woot.com's front page.

If an existing SMB3 editor doesn't have these features covered, then I'd say just use a 6502 disassembler on the ROM, and poke around with a corrupter at points of interest to see if you've found the right function call to alter. I'm fairly certain Zophar's still has these sort of utilities available.

I'm of the opinion that if this game is played well enough, I'd be perfectly willing to give it my yes vote. It's faster paced than its predecessor (even if action stages are still slow) and the musical score is beautiful enough that it keeps my attention through the speed deficit. I'm for it.

I wouldn't suggest to spoil too many tricks very early though, what will be left for our runs otherwise? ;-)
Sharing information makes improvement that much easier. If you take twelve people and isolate them with identical projects, each person's unique perspective inherently gives them certain strengths and weaknesses. They'll all finish the same project with radically different results, but not one of them will be as good as all of their projects' best features coming together. What's more, if you sit on it long enough, someone else is bound to make the same discovery and share it with the world anyway. Isn't it easier to just cooperate and forget the competition for glory altogether?

I think it means there are multiple people who want the AVI, not that multiple formats are wanted.

And I don't think WIP 1 support is needed. That feature was implemented in 1.43 Final as some games desync when 1.43 WIP didn't.
Its absense makes the majority of the SMVs on the site unplayable.

I don't get what you're trying to say. Unless you thought that the .avi was there. Wake up. It's not there. There's a link, but "nothing happens".
Note, "I'm also interested in seeing an avi of this run" which conveys the message that an AVI would be appreciated into addition to the FMV, which is what I linked to. Or maybe I misunderstood, whatever. [edit] Ah, yes, I should not have assumed that the link in the op was no longer valid. Don't mind me, I'm prone to making stupid mistakes such as this.

All that's required to fly through stairs is to be traveling upward at the point of contact with the object. It's easiest to perform if you're flying at the stairs at a high rate of speed, and ascending slowly.

Not to nitpick, but wip1 timing support would also be nice... Otherwise, it's looking better.

Depends on whether or not you want to pursue a formal education in the future. If you jump into it where you are now, college professors will likely fight to make you unlearn what you've learned, and do things their way at the core level. If this sounds like a risk you're willing to take, then by all means, browse tutorials to your heart's content. You're not going to go horribly wrong on your own with trial error, but that doesn't mean someone won't want to bend and mold you to suit their will later on.
