I think I was a little more entertained with the SMW run, though may be in part because I feel the remixed SMB3 All-Stars music is the most wretched work Nintendo has ever done. That said, I had to run to class before the movie was finished, so I minimized the emulator and lugged my laptop off to class. I let the movie start up again in the classroom before class had actually started, at which point a group formed behind me, utterly amazed. Once class began, the people who were left behind me refused to allow me to minimize it again, so the rest of the run played out while I was attempting to remain inconspicuous. In any event, I give it a thumbs up. Whether these runs get published or not, I'm grateful that you took the time to put them together. They may not break any records, but what's wrong with just aiming to be entertaining?

I think the only Mii I have set to wander is generic pigtails nerdy-looking girl. Can't remember if I named her Kyuti or Jupi at the moment.

Okay, I'll admit that I've seen most of these tricks done elsewhere, but there's a lot more entertaining to be done when you're not racing against the clock. I never even knew there was another giant bone-crushing pillar waiting outside the boss room for you in castle #1. Learning new things about a game I've spent 16 years (ugh, is it really that old?) playing the proverbial hell out of is truly a joyous delight. Was I entertained? Verily. I don't remember ever laughing so much at a tool-assisted run in the years I've been visiting this site. I'll give it a yes vote for that right there, inevitably for the demo category. It's nice to see something out of the ordinary every once in a while.

Amusingly, its homepage is linked to from the first page of google results I linked to in my previous post.
Heh. Well, it was true at one point that the project didn't have a home page. :/

Is it legal? Yes. No copyrighted material is contained within the software, and its use is perfectly legal regardless of how you use it. But honestly, if you're using it to catalog ROMs, I'm not sure why you care about legality. :p Where to find it? Google is a good place to start, seeing as the project doesn't have a home page. How to use it? Unless you love working from a command line, I suggest you get a frontend of some sort. Unfortunately, the ones I'm familiar with are still buggy as hell under XP, but I was able to get GoodUI to work as long as I exited the program after completing a task, rather than jumping right into another task.

Ah, does it? I suppose I should have checked my archive first before mentioning names, though I could swear it was a Game Gear exclusive as well.

How can you make an avi file if you can't play the movie back to begin with?
My assumption would be to TAS individual stages (like the YouTube videos mentioned previously) and splice them together as one video file.

I have a program (not using it) called Multiplicity that allows you to use multiple networked machines as one continuous desktop.
Url provided for the curious. Its an interesting concept. I'm not sure if I would have a practical use for it as I don't have a server right now (and even if I did, I would probably use a KVM switch).
That would be nice just for the sake of being able to remotely (sort of) access both monitors on my desktop, seeing as VNC only wants to use the primary display. Of course, that means I'd also have to be sitting close enough to my desktop to see what's going on, which defeats the purpose of controlling my desktop from the other end of my apartment.

So even though I've been registering the friend codes in this topic, they have yet to register me so my Mii Parade is pretty barren.
I shall rectify that on my end immediately.

Either that or just TAS individual levels and submit them as tech demos. Of course, even starting from a savestate doesn't guarantee it will sync properly.

The Mii Parade is for your friends' Miis who have traveling enabled. If you yourself have traveling enabled, then your Mii(s) will show up on your friends' Mii Parade, along with any other friends they may have with travelling Miis. So, if nobody shows up on your Mii Parade, that just means your friends don't have traveling enabled yet.

My only knock against it is that I like running games at higher than intended resolutions without interpolated blurryvision. Also, the thought of PlayStation TAS is unreasonable, anyway. The media does a good job of prohibiting the possibility.

Pete's GPU plugins (and their successors, whom I can't recall the name of at this exact moment) are the only video plugins you'll ever need. The OGL versions have more nifty features, but the D3D versions have been far more stable in my experience. I never noticed a difference in performance between the two, though, so go with whatever you feel like. The plugin settings have options for individual game fixes. FFVII has its own fix, as does FFIX. And should you ever get around to playing FFVIII, it doesn't need a fix; if the in-battle menus aren't showing up, you just need to pick a different offscreen drawing level. Edit: Ah, beaten to the punch. Oh well.

37 second improvement to the run I already voted yes on, and no entertainment lost. Nothing left to do but click the 'yes' button.

Ouch, how did I leave out Chrono Trigger? Mitsuda/Uematsu 4 lyfe, yo. And while I'm at it, Castlevania, Suikoden, F-Zero, Guilty Gear (!), Dragon Quest, Panzer Dragoon, Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and the first three Tekkens.

Just naming them as they come to me. Sonic CD (prefer Japanese version to American, but they're both excellent) Brutal: Paws of Fury (Sega CD soundtrack is awesome, SNES soundtrack is impressive) Super Adventure Island Streets of Rage (and SoR2) Sol-Feace Ecco the Dolphin (Sega CD version, mainly) Ridge Racer (the entire series, really) Skies of Arcadia Legend of Zelda (again, the entire series is worthy of mention) Metroid series Street Fighter series Megaman series King of Fighters series Sega Rally 1 & 2 dare I say Daytona USA? And might as well throw the entire Sonic series in there. Just felt Sonic CD deserved its own special mention. Though the Saturn version of Sonic 3D Blast has my favorite Sonic theme of all-time - Green Grove Act 1. I'm sure I'll think of more later, but that's what came to me at this horrible hour of the morning.

To make a boring game interesting is always a plus. And it improves on the last movie, to boot. Thumbs up.

A game about ninja crusaders with the ability to shapeshift into tigers and non-corporeal dragons (not to mention birds and scorpions) ... interesting enough. Looks good to me.

Don't blink, or you'll miss the whole run! Looks like a fun game, will make a note to play it when I get home to my desktop. Easy yes vote, though it kinda makes me want to see a warpless run. :p

I eventually decided on a 'yes' vote. The merit makes the entertainment, especially if you've attempted to play the game.
