Faster strats, better moves optimisation, this run should be the fastest unless a new trick/glitch is found. The movie is not that entertaining, but the game doesn't offer so much possibilities to be entertaining. So I guess things like the rope section of the sixth level are enough to vote yes, as this run seems to be optimized Just a question : How did you manage to get a boost by killing the second bat in the 8th level ? Could it be used in others places ?
Yes I know, this game is not very entertaining, maybe if there weren't all that loadings. For the bat in the 8th level, I forgot to write about it in the description, the boost is given when I'm near a ceiling when killing the bat, there aren't other occasion to use it, if not one in the 6th level, during the rope part there is a bat near the ceiling that give a similar boost, but it's useless. That one in the movie also isn't itself faster, I still need to wait for the moving walls later, all the time gained is lost later!

I found that you can save time in the 8th level, by going back to the checkpoint after getting double jump, then go to the platform on the top left (where there is the yellow enemy), then to the moving platform to reach end of the level, instead of doing all the double jumping stuff intended ;)
Used this route, but still I needed to wait for the platform and the crushing wall, at the end it's not faster, but still a nice find, thanks!
I admit I didn't take the time to check, I was sure it would be faster =p Nice find for the bat jump. Do you have an idea of what makes your speed dont reduce on that jump ? If yes maybe it could be used in sommes other places in the game
I think it's the camera. In the moment I hit the bat, the camera starts moving. This is the only place I've got something like this and I noticed by re-watching the movie! Done nothing really particular in that jump, just this!

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/25751651888985149 Almost done with this run! Big improvement come from a glitch in the sixth stage, by jumping in a specific frame after you jump off the rope you can kill the bat without losing speed. 421 frames ahead

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/25727704646427694 More time saved, I'm now 328 frame ahead. Two major thing are jumping from the snowman directly to a ledge in stage 4 and better boss fight in stage 5. In stage 4 I've tried during the boost part to totaly avoid the snowman before the pit with the fan, but I couldn't do it, don't think it's possible!

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/25699960531248053 Improving my cancelled submission (http://tasvideos.org/4847S.html), right now I'm 135 frame ahead, this derives from jumping early in the first level to get ahead during the cutscene and jumping on the cave entrance (thanks to axodo for the finds), jumping early in the second stage and saving 16 frames (still not exactly sure if this is the only factor that save time, still investigating), and general better optimization in the third stage!

This run is not optimal. I tried to make a TAS of the first level, mine is 50 frames faster than yours, and in some areas you don't use fastest strats, such as Gargamel fight, where you don't need to jump on the enemy to hit Garagmel, a precise jump and correct timing to throw the present are enough
Can we just get some proof on this please: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/my#uploadfile
Here is my movie ;) http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/25685037053685779
Don't know if it's only my problem, but it desync after half level. Anyway, you're right, I've already redone the first 3 levels and found some improvements. Cancelling this submission and redoing it, going to post in the PSX forum a WIP of the new TAS

Here it is the improvement http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/24412434221695437 In the third level itself, I was able to improve 308 frames. Problem is all the block manipulation after where different, in some level (like the five) I had another improvement, but in other i've lost time due to the new manipulation (example, stage 4 in-game time is faster than the previous run, but i still lost time for the manipulation). At the end, I've saved 258 frames instead of the initials 308, still a good improvement

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/24370724469822864 So, right now I'm at the first half of angkor wat. Block manipulation is not easy, but I found some interesting things: 1) First way to manipulate block is during the cutscene at the start of the world, based on the frame you skip the cutscene, you get a different set of the first 3 pieces every time 2) During the cutscene after you completed the level, you can press X to get it go faster. Based on how much time you spent during the last leven and how you press X, the first 3 pieces of the next level change. The only problem is that I can't find a real way how this work. Sometimes pressing x for a single frame is enough, sometimes it must be pressed and released some times. 3) During the level, you can manipulate the next pieces by waiting before dropping down the current piece. Again, there isn't an actual precise number of frame you need to wait in order to get a piece change The only thing I've noticed is you can't get 2 equal pieces in a row and sometimes manipulate a precise piece require a lot of frames, and it's actualy faster change tactic on the level. Last, it will probably be a long TAS for a tetris game, I've thinked to try the expert mode of the arcade game (which if I remember correctly has only 16 levels), but the game isn't in the FBA list, so I can't do nothing EDIT: Found a big improvement in the third stage of angkor wat, redoing all the stages after this

Tetris plus is a tetris game with a gamemode different from normal tetris. In puzzle mode, you have a pre-builded stage and by cancelling lines you must bring to the ground the professor. It's quite different from normal tetris game and it would be a funny TAS. This is a first WIP of the TAS, by manipulating the pieces it's possible to complete the level really fast http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/24307318286123142 What do you think? Encode

Actualy not, for now all the NTSC games I've tested work fine, exception for sheep raider which is another problem.

Anyway, my version is the european one, which is slower, so I still have problems! I will try to find a good dump of the american version, thanks for the help

This happens only with a specific game, sheep raiders, all the others I tried work normally. I've also tried differents iso of the same game, all give me the same error.

Hello, sorry for not posting for a long time, but I had some problems and I couldn't do much for the tas. Today I wanted to return to this project, I donwloaded the new version of bizhawk, but it give me an error when i try to open the iso. Also, I found an emulation glitch while playing normally with psxjin, all the cutscenes where speed up, so I'm not sure if I should continue with it. So at the moment I can't continue this tas

I didn't think about analog controller, I'm going to try! For the camera movement, yes, the game has camera movement, but It's not always better than simply moving, depends on the case! Also, sometimes you can't move it!

Yes, the movements in some point can be optimized, but it also depends a lot about the camera movement! The camera is really bad, it's actually hard sometimes moving exactly how I want while the camera moves (example after getting a mail box)

Stage 2 and 3 http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/21015341325243146 I can't understand exactly how the stealth walk bug work, sometimes I can use it, sometimes not, but I think the third level is still pretty optimized, by hiding only 2 times behind the rock, I saved a lot of time

Sheep Raider (also known as "Sheep, Dog 'n' Wolf") is a puzzle-platform game in which the player must steal Sam Sheepdog's sheeps without being noticed by him. Thanks to the faulty AI and some collision issues, there is a ton of useful bugs and glitches for TASing, such as a faster stealth walk and skipping the brake animation after the sprint by exploiting the map collisions. This is a WIP with only the first level done. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/20934582584645886

CT special forces is a game like metal slug for the gba. This is a TAS of the first level to get an idea of how the game is. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/672378426/1379%20-%20CT%20Special%20Forces%20%28U%29%20%28M6%29.vbm I'm going to do a complete TAS. Comments are welcome. EDIT encode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAQ5Lj2jalc

Tryed with the new version of hourglass. Now the game's window opens, but the game doesn't load. I will try with other game to see if is a problem of this game or other.
