That's not much a variation from your usual, then.
My usual one is composed of red, green, and blue! It also looks significantly less nauseated. [edit] Compare:

For me it desyncs as soon as he goes to the past in PPZ1. Sometimes even earlier. also:
  • it will always desync once you get to CCZ, because once you're past the first zone, "continue" appears at that menu spot instead of "new game", so you'll have to add a left press and some wait time for the menu to change.
  • From what I can tell, this is not even close to the optimal route for good future in PPZ1

As was mentioned in the thread, before this was submitted, this run should have aimed for a different goal than fastest completion, because there's already a Kirby's Avalanche run published. Unless you were aiming to obsolete Kirby's Avalanche, in which case you should have played on the hardest difficulty. As it stands, this run doesn't really have any impressive stuff going for it. In fact, I was really bothered by the fact that after the initial combo in each level, you didn't do anything with your playfield. It felt really sloppy and lazy that you just left whatever pile didn't get used in the combo laying around. This movie absolutely gets a "no" vote from me.

That wasn't a troll. If it were, the poster would not have subsequently disappeared completely from the community (not just the forums, and not just #nesvideos IRC) for a period of several months following. Certain of his other activities on this forum have been trolling, but not every action that a thief makes is a robbery.

First of all, those forums sound draconian. I certainly wouldn't want to participate in a forum with a rule that people aren't allowed to say goodbye. Secondly, even if this forum had such a rule, Ferret's farewell thread is different because
  • it was not an "I'm leaving forever" thread, it was a "I won't be able to be around for a while" thread
  • It stated a time period (2 years) during which he would not be able to be an active member
  • It was not a willful departure, it was because of a real-life obligation that prevented him from having frequent computer access

hmm, wouldn't an amphetamine [speed] be better, since it is purely speed related and has a lack of psychodelics (sp)?

The Left+Right is sort of interesting for a couple of minutes, but using it all the way through the whole run, I get sick of it really quickly. Additionally, I prefer the NES graphics and sound for SMB3, because on both those counts, the SNES versions just seem incredibly generic. There is some fun stuff in here, but really, I'd have liked an NES version much much better. And yes, I'm aware that Left+Right doesn't work on the NES version of the game--that's part of why I'd like it better. So I'm going to have to vote no on this.

Don't listen to DK64. He hates fun. Seriously, there were several points in this movie that had me laughing out loud, and wondering how he just did that. Even the glitches that I already knew about were used in inventive new ways, although the block duplication glitch is arguably used too much. Some of the deaths were also pretty surprising. Most notably in Iggy Koopa's castle where mario simply jumps through the floor. I also really liked the emphasis on unorthodox solutions to levels and puzzles. There were some boring parts, I must admit, but not nearly enough to pull this into "no", or even "meh" territory, for me.

Dire Dire Docks was the most boring segment of the 1-star run. And, in fact, has been the most boring segment of every SM64 run published thus far. Congratulations on getting rid of it. You have no idea how glad I am to see DDD gone. The resulting movie is much more entertaining than the 1-star run, and should definitely, absolutely obsolete it. Of course, it's still nowhere near as fun to watch as the 16-star run, but the likelyhood of the 16-star being unobsoleted, or anybody ever making a new 16-star is pretty much nil, so this is definitely the movie that should be listed on the N64 page.

Because game gear and master system were almost entirely intercompatible, in many cases the only difference between the SMS and GG versions of a game were cartridge size and shape. Certain games made use of Game Gear's extended palette, though. For these it would be best to use the GG version of the ROM. (I don't have a list handy, however.)

Do you like to answer all questions by repeating the previous question, as if I haven't answered it? Good thing for you I'm in an ok mood.
Well, you didn't answer it at all. I'm not even sure what part of what you said you think answered it.

Basically, the way you and CrossDressingBrushy are acting as if this game doesn't deserve to be published.
No. I'm saying it'd be very difficult to produce an entertaining movie that would meet conventional goals. The run that would fall into "concept demo" status is probably the best idea for this game. It is a run that I would like to see published (if executed well), and I don't see how the category it would be published in makes a difference to that.
comicalflop wrote:
the type of run that waztango is describing would fall under the concept demos category because it is not a speedrun trying to beat the game but demonstrating the multiplayer mode that looks cool when Tool Assisted.
Yes I agree it would fall under concept demo. So what? Does this mean it shouldn't be done? It would at least be publishable.

SSB already has its own 1P mode, and the multiplayer thing is more of a playaround goal.

IF a run were to be made and published (unlikely though), that's where it would go, since it doesn't fully complete the game and go to credits. There's nothing wrong with ZeXr0's statement.

How does this affect it's publishability here?
You can watch the run though the video, and to back the run up, pack the individual runs files and the avi into a nice little zip file =P
And you still can't publish it here that way.
