If you redo it, I'd suggest that you try to keep as many of the original bubbles as possible on when you pop the last ceiling bubble.
Hmm... I'm not sure if there are any stages where the goal of doing this and completing the stage as fast as possible isn't one and the same.
There are a few stages with zappers and explosives that could be avoided...

It would be appreciated if you would try to remember that not everyone on the internet is a goon, and keep the links to members only areas of the Something Awful forums to a minimum. This is especially the case as Something Awful accounts require paying to register, so when you post links to members-only sections, you're basically spamming for a commercial site.

I actually started a test TAS of this about a year ago, but couldn't find the RAM address for next color, so I gave up. I believe the SNES version has 100 levels, but that's the U version. I don't know what the diferences between U and J are, though.

I've experienced the problem but for me it only seems to happen when playing back on windows media player, and other players play back fine. What players is it happening to you in? just WMP, or all of them?

And here I thought a Sonic 3D TAS wouldn't be impressive. Nice work so far. If you can keep this up for the rest of the TAS, it'll be good stuff.

Just watched it. The game was amazing back when I used to play it all the time when I owned a working Genesis. It's even more awesome watching the game get owned. The run itself was executed very well. Yes vote here. I'd also like to add that it didn't desync in gens_movie_9j.
It would have if your sound rate was set to 22050 or 11025.

I don't think any combination of numbers will work if the bonus stages haven't been done. I could be wrong, though, I suppose

huh not a bad idea. I'd need a .sram that has access to Final Fight to do that, since level select is not accessible from a clean SRAM.
I don't believe Sonic 3D blast uses sram I was refering to the code
Go to the Press Start screen and enter the code: B,A, Right, A, C, Up, Down, A (or baracuda). You should then be taken to the main screen. Press the Start Option ad the level select will appear next. Choose your level and begin play.

So that settles it then. No Final Fight, but the game can be 'beaten' i.e. get to the credits. A 100% run can be made, getting the emeralds, and doing the final fight in order to achieve 'best ending'.
better idea: Do a bonus gmv which uses level select to start at Final Fight. Link to it from the submission text.

Maybe we can lock up JXQ and Phil in a cage. Two TASers enter, one TASer leaves.

I can see the differences in terms of sloppiness, and I'm not any sort of MK64 professional. This whole TAS looks pretty sloppy, so I'm going to vote meh. But I would definitely yes this if it were tightened up to a good level.

Phil: You should go ahead and try to make donkey kong more entertaining without losing speed. If you succeed, people will vote yes, and it will obsolete hero's version. If you do not succeed, the movie is so short that very little of your effort would have been lost. Also, since it seems as though Hero of the Day would not want his name on such an improvement, you could take full credit. Edit: Since I do not expect to be voting yes on such a run, myself, I would like to note for the record that I did not vote yes on this run, either.

were it not an obsoletion, I would vote no on grounds of poor game choice. Instead, I think I'll meh. Good work finding 8 full seconds, though.

If I say there are improvements and that I will do a run, then there are no secrets. Also, if someone is working on it and don't tell anyone, then he is indeed "secrets". And many people know that I am open to joint effort to work on a game. So if that person want to do it on it's own, that's what I call "competition" and this breeds perfection.
Note: The word "you" in the following post does not refer to Phil. Instead, it refers to any person who matches the description in the first sentence. When a poster says that there are possible improvements, but not explaining what they are is just as useful as keeping it secret that there are possible improvements. Unless you explain how to perform the improvements, noone will be able to find them except you, so the improvements are still secret, unless you reveal the methods when asked.

#1 - Do not keep secrets. People who keep secrets are playing for pride or ego. Keeping secrets just so your run will be better than someone else's when you are done is just foolish and counterproductive. All information should be shared with the community in order to produce the best possible movie, regardless of author. #2 - ENJOY SEEING YOUR MOVIES OBSOLETED. How many people here say that? not very many at all. I enjoy TASes because they push the game to the limit. If someone manages to improve upon a game that I really like, then this is a good thing. There is no reason to get angry. If you are so full of pride that you fear seeing your runs obsoleted, that is just sad. #3 - Never make claims of how good you are, or how perfect your run is. Arrogance is absolutely useless, and it is a fine way to piss off your fellow TASers. Beside, claiming perfection is the EPITOME of pride. #4 - Do not become emotionally attached to your work. It's just a fucking game. If someone beats you to the punch, don't cry about it. I am sure there are more things, but I forgot them. The bottom line is that you should not make movies just to have your name attached to the game or to increase your status. Make the runs for the simple fact that it is fun, challenging, and looks awesome when played back in real time.
Quoted for truth, although number 4 is perhaps misstated a bit. It's fine to become emotionally attached to your TAS, but if someone beats you to the punch, (1) it's a good thing, as it shows that you've made good game choice, and (2) it just means that, if you still want to be surprising, you need to find a different way to do some things.

I do. a pride run is a movie that you make for your own benefit, maybe something not to share with other people, or as a "nyah nyah, look what I can do compared to your movie!" or to show off their own skill, instead of entertaining the audience.
This is incorrect. A pride movie is a movie which is done for the purpose of gaining glory from the community, rather than for the purpose of having fun, and/or being innovative. Think for a moment on whether this means your MK64 thing is a pride run. If it does, then stop the run, and do something for your own entertainment, instead of to gain recognition. If it does not, then you will finish this run and submit it.

I think this is actually due to the fact that you're playing on expert, which the previous movie did not.

Bisqwit is the creator of the site. JXQ is a player, who consistently produces fast and entertaining movies. Truncated is a judge who tries to keep the submission queue as clean as possible. To the best of our knowledge, no two users on this site are the same person, with the exception of HiddenGamer/SSJVegetto, who has twice been banned. Don't mind Zurreco too much, he is renowned for being a jerk in (mostly) funny ways.
