a few questions (i checked the thread, i just need clarification): -does sound affect movie playback/desync? -if NOT, what would cause desync? -how well do GB/GBC games work with this? -is there a limit to when VBA will "give out" (such as with older versions of SNES9x) and recording will halt? if so, what is the limit? thank you. :)
When I did my testing, (4 different test) on GB mega man 5.. test 1... play thru Neptune level bashing save savestate ONLY (no load savestate) -- no desync test 2... play thru Neptune level bashing save savestate and load savestate (with button pressed down) -- desync test 3... play thru Neptune level with save savestate and load savestate (without pressing any button while doing save/load) -- no desync test 4... play thru Neptune level with save savestate (with button pressed), BUT load savestate without holding any button down -- no desync my theory? rerecording is mess up when you load savestate with button pressed down. i HAVE to hold the button down to load savestate and redo something precise =( o btw, GBA games seem to do fine (to other people), GB/GBC/SGB isnt for me.

hooray! about the Tropicalo fight, do you think hit twice at the start would end fight quicker? About sprite weapon, how bout changing it to axe as a primary weapon? then the girl to get whip as a primary weapon, is it faster or no? (scratch that idea if you goin to use boomerang / gloves heavily instead of spells) *edited typo*

Why not take Teri's movie? Turbo tab thru until motherbrain is defeated, push "Movie Stop", then you could control from where you "Movie Stop" the playback.

I have played DotA online a few time, IMO it has waaaaay to much imbalance and waaaay to many heroes (how could I practice each one offline?) Thumb Up for your links anyway. *edit - I decided to try DotA again.. omg.. latest version just have insane long load time, like.. 5 min on 384 ram, 9800 radeon, pentium 4. Lets see, thats like more than a month to practice all heroes. I'm officially no longer playing DotA*

matching character on special box with the one you are hitting, you could boost a bit farther (if you click)

Is it that the emulator is failing to read whatever frame pointer's stored in the savestate, or is the savestate failing to record the frame pointer afterwards? Maybe I'll do some more investigation later...
I'm not quite clear with what are you saying. But I think that it was putting down incorrect input and missed 4 bytes, and placing extra 4 bytes somewhere later. But I don't know really, Im not any coder or anything. Observe... This was done in Mega Man 5 (U) [!] (view it in CGB / GBC, whoops) Original recorded There, done a first part of Neptune level, jumped down inside ship. When I play back, omg what happen, I am seeing late jump timing and totally desync at 2nd roflcopter. I went and try hex editing and insert 4 bytes somewhere in middle, saved it. Hex Edited record Watched the replay, it's still doing desync before 2nd helicopter (may not look desync for you, but it is for me), 2nd helicopter went in sync (woot) but after that, back to desyncing. Trying to hex edit again putting 4 bytes somewhere else but still getting same result, sync'd 2nd helicopter fight, but desync before and after it. Perhap it's doing wrong input recording?

I have made update to doc (redownload at 1st post). 4matsy, you probably mean to use Salt Water on Arm Bots? Yeah I will do that, thanks for pointing it out. (as well as Dark Moon, use Photon Missile on its eye)

Are you considering getting any helpful items from Dr. Light?
I did thought about it, but it cost time (collecting P-Chips, teleporting to dr. light, flipping thru for certain item, select it, mega man jump to get it, Dr. Light ask you to continue purchasing, select no, walk and teleport out). I rather be luck maintaining weapon energy. But it depends, I will have to put myself deeper study / plan in that. 4matsy, thanks for comment, I'll check into that. About Spark Chaser on Nepture, I was thinking of reserving it's energy for Sunstar. I dont think you get free weapon energy recharge every level / stage unlike other Mega Man games.

I think I have it all planned out. Made a document of run here. Use font MS Gothic (or any font that has nice text aligning) to view it. Route plan was copy and paste from GameFaqs, a little change to route (for speed). Now all I have to do is wait for newer VBA with no desyncing problem. Any comment / suggestion? Thanks. You can put this in GB / GBA section when it is made.

Try to add some cool stunt / funny moves while you need to *wait*, that would add up more entertainment. Not just jump and kick.. need more than that.

When I tried start test run for Mega Man 5 (on Alpha 5), I began recording on 10% throttle, bashing "Start" button to get to Mercury stage ASAP, went thru the level a bit, and stop recording. I tried to play back and savestate during movie to try to fix mistake, it made odd behavior. It was like bring up menu, close menu, bring up, close, bring up (as if were bashing "Start button" again) Oh btw, it still have desync problem I dont know if I had wrong setting on or it just desync problem. During recording, I made mega man to jump over hole, then during playback, mega man fall into hole.

Hey, I don't know if Bisqwit recieved source code and working into it or didn't recieve it. But I would get my butt started working on Mega Man 4 or Mega Man 5 speedrun if VBA rerecorder met those requirement, I wonder how far from done for these requirement?
