I've never played Dino Crisis before, this may or may not able to help you, I'll try. It's difficult to search weapon's damage directly in some game so it might be easier to see how much damage you've inflict on enemy instead. So find yourself enemy's health memory address, once you do that, you can try shoot say Weapon A at it, see memory say 80 drop down to 60, then try Weapon B at that enemy, memory drop from 60 down to 30 so that you know Weapon B is stronger. Searching enemy's health is simple for most game, start a fresh search, hit enemy, go back to search, search "less than previous value" again and again, or move around, do something different but don't hurt enemy and then search "no change" until you get it.

Alright, instead of keeping it secret, I'm announcing that I'm working on Spelunker 2 TAS. Why? I figured I need to open topic so that there can be discussion about this game, maybe some different route or glitch I'm not aware of. The game is made in japan only and didn't come in English version at all (except there's at least 2 different english translation patch floating around on internet). One of the main different over first Spelunker is that you can play as 1 of 3 characters, each play differently, Explorer, Cleric (or Wizard?) and Esper. The game is also fairly short - there's a video some guy beating game with almost shortest path in 30 minutes. I'm going with Esper since he (or she) has ability to teleport back to where he (or she) had set teleport point. I will be pretty much following the video route, the only different so far is skipping Rosary item, skip all rations, skip 1st and 4th bomb. I believe TAS will be less than 20 minutes. So JeedUnit made a new WR video a month ago with time 5:36.16 (starting from naming Maxim character) and I'm trying reproduce it, I cannot do it on old man part he did in the video. I tried save-loading every single line on the old man glitched dialog up until around 200th pressed down, I'm not getting the part with "99 magic jar" screen (well I did on 97th pressed down but not the right one), It seemed he play it normally, not frame-advancing precision, so any pass 200 down is far too long compared to how long it took for him to get that. What did I do wrong? perhap different emulator making it happen differently? I tried this on bizhawk (bsnes core), his video right at beginning looked like done on snes9x but which version? I can tell he used USA Lufia 2 (see crc32 check) As far as I can reproduce is: 1. Level up to 2 (make sure get max hp is not 31) 2. glitch by going to config music, press left, leave screen 3. save game at church, L+R+select+start 4. savestate on 4 load slot screen, load game 5. use 8 potion on character 6. try glitch again, check to see if character go to 0 hp (if it doesnt, go back #4) 7. go to old man in secret cave, he'll glitch dialog <--- stuck on this part I tried to PM JeedUnit on youtube and twitch few days ago, I noticed he was online on twitch yesterday (he changed status to valentine day stuff), but didn't answer my PM? It's driving me crazy, can anyone figure this out?

Is there way to get rom crc32 hash? current lua in BizHawk seem to only return SHA-1 hash.

You talking about youtube time? It seem only 43 frames different.. I see 40 frames different at beginning from being different SGB start-up, then 3 extra frame gain/loss different at end.

Check out "Boku no Hero Academia" manga.. it's so good, maybe it'll have anime adaptation eventually. It's sort of like xmen mutant world, and main character does smart thing like what Captain America does.

All of secret treasure rooms has 4 secret doors to all 4 crypt rooms, I guess it's developer programming mistake copying the crypt entrance room. Dying for that green crypt room is necessary, warping to that room without dying cause character to continue falling down under until game locks up.

Thanks Jigwally, yes I couldn't deathwarp because after rescuing Wednesday, dying would respawn character next to "Life-up" icon. Walking back to door was necessary.

no new branch. Old movie I had character dies after I finish movie, and before "you win the game" message", it's a gray area so replace the old movie. I should have named it "The Addams Family", I went with rom name. *edit: fixed both of these

It just a marketing strategy for them as in "our product does better". Sony ads says "It only does everything" for PS3, it doesn't do PS2, install other OS anymore.

Glad you asked 1. Those enemy come in different behavior at different time, say if you meet enemy at frame 100, it'll decide to duck first.. if you meet at frame 110, it'll decide to swing sword first... I had to try something different to keep fastest time possible 2. character always get knocked left if getting hit.
