As per Spikestuff's request, here's Case 1 of Ace Attorney: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/17780024610302859 I really need to learn how to make encodes :p

I'd really like to know what all of the RAM values mean, so exploits could possibly happen, but it's hard to figure them out when you don't know what you're looking for and aren't versed in video game hardware.

Ok, that may steer me from this game. I'm not above finishing it, though, and sending it in just in case.

Well, as a warning, this may break the record for longest TAS. I looked at walkthroughs, and as of the end of case 1, I'm only ~4 minutes faster, and the complete walkthroughs take 15 hours to complete the game. So...this may be a long one, and I don't blame the judges for rejecting it on that basis.

I haven't been working on any PS2 stuff as of late, but I remember I did a little bit of the beginning of Kingdom Hearts. While PCSX2-rr is a serious pain to use, it still works. Not only that, but when I played back the movie, it synced just fine. True, this was on the same computer that made it, but it just makes me wonder that if PCSX2-rr, while a pain, works and you are able to make TAS movies on it, and provided they sync for other people, why wouldn't they be accepted? I'm not able to upload my KH file, as the site won't recognize .p2m files, even when compressed, so I'm unsure of how to get the file to others for testing. But, again, provided they sync, I see no reason to keep PS2 movies from the site.

It just gives me a garbled mess. I've seen this type of thing before, but I don't know how to turn it into input that I can edit.

How would you decompress the file?

Some background: I'm TASing Pitfall in BizHawk, like any normal game, until I realize that on one of the screens, in the middle of my existing file, there's a possible improvement. My question is how does one improve parts of a run without causing desyncs or destroying everything after that part in the movie? In case it's relevant, I'm running 1.7.4.

Yeah, I knew immediately when I considered it that it was going to be one of the most boring runs on the site. But it's interesting to see how far the definition of a TAS can be taken. An argument I'd pull up in favor for it is the Myst run. Baxter's old comments still stand, but it still makes for a vault entry. Potato, I might actually consider that, now that I think of it lol.

So, I'm TASing Phoenix Wright (ha ha, wring my neck later, but I haven't found anything that outright banned this game, and trust me, I looked), but I have a question: Japanese or English version? Given the nature of the game, I feel like it'd be a bit of a cheat to use the J version, but the site has allowed J versions for a bit now, so I'm wondering maybe separate runs for Japanese and English? (But I don't think that would be vaultable). Also, feel free to begin debate on whether this game should be allowed or not. I've been pondering whether this game could make a legitimate TAS or not. Boring as hell, sure, but I haven't thought of anything to say that it wouldn't be its own legitimate TAS. Would love some thoughts on that as well.

Most likely because Mothrayas hasn't changed the movie file yet, but Scahfy had made the encode of it.

More improvements found, and updated submission details with new glitch information. Asking that Mothrayas, once again, replace the submission file with this

I like the short length, the fact that it's an A2600 game, and the thinking that went into it. Yes vote from me.

I've never played this version of Doom, and I'm not a Doom runner, so I don't know where all of the secrets are, but from looking at the first few stages, I can see it at least needs to be cleaned up a bit. Trying to look at this from the point of few of a casual watcher and not a TASer looking for perfection, I can see enemies that didn't need to be killed, a little better route management, and certainly the sensitivity could be heightened, as stated. Overall, it's not a bad run AT ALL. It certainly looks like it would be very hard to recreate in RT. But, it really just gives off the feel of a runner who had some help. So, because it looks and feels better than a speedrun, and it's the first Doom 64 run here, I give a meh vote and say it should be published, but expect it to be obsoleted within a day, if even that.

It would be interesting to do all looping games to their killscreen. But that would make for some long and boring movies, so I don't know.

I feel any game can be TASed. It's all about pushing the game to its limits in whatever way you can (I don't much care about entertainment, sue me). Hell, I've even thought of TASing Phoenix Wright. And RT, I might do that. I guess it would make sense since that's a pseudo-end.

I believe I slow down to manipulate the AI a bit, and I tried turning twice to no avail.

It does loop until you get to a score of 1080 (mid-way through 16th round if you play perfectly), at which point there's a kill screen. I went ahead and stopped on the 5th screen as the 6th is the same as the first, just with one less life.
