i've read on our russian forum that rerecord count may be edited. of course, as one record an fm2 file, he may just edit it with simple notepad. as for other formats - there is HEXeditor (or stuff like it). is there any way to check, if rerecord count was edited? (sorry if this was already discussed - SEARCH brought me no success. if it was - give a link plz)

Nope, there's no way to control whether the number of rerecords is edited in movie files. Not that it matters much anyway, since it's just a side number with no real importance.

It has importance if you're relying on it to see if someone cheated when playing a game on the emulator. :) The practical upshot of this is, emulator movies are useless for competitions that are intended to measure your actual skill at the game. Not only rerecords, but slowdown and frame advance can allow you to cheat without there being any record.

Derakon quite right you are! it was namely a thread of emulator-movie time competition, where i read this.

You should'nt be able to control the rerecord count, it's basically lying how many rerecords you have. If you can lie about it then why not show it at all?

I say that people won't bother to lie about it if it isn't SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Doesn't matter, it won't read 0 in the submission information, it will say something like "Indeterminable" or something like that. The same thing happens when we get 'Let's play' type submissions (which quickly get fed to the grue)

To be accurate, it says "(unknown)".

Also the movie statistics page will skip movies with zero rerecords for the rerecord statistics. (This was originally made specifically so that movies with false or lost rerecords could be zeroed and thus skipped by the statistics.)
