TAS Sonic the Hedgehog 3 "Copetition by Nitsuja & MMarks

Finally finished. I've been trying to improve the movie of nitsuja (See here), but as not improve anything, I wanted to finish the movie and found a glitch in the area (I will see below.) I Improve the movie of upthorn per 1731 frames of his movie previous. Cost me a lot try and try to improve their movie (I mean that of nitsuja), but if I find any improvement, the movie will be Replaced

Game Objetive:

  • Emulator used: Gens 11b + S3KCamhack + SolidityViewer + (partial)HitboxDisplay + LUA HUD for Genesis Sonic games
  • Aims for fastest possible time.
  • heavy glitches abuse
  • Manipulates luck.
  • Genere: Platform.

Is this one better than the last rejected one? I'll see this while I encode this one in SD (without PSG high quality, which is something to do) and in HQx. EDIT: I think I'll start telling my votes now, since I used to shut up about it. I voted Yes! This is absolutely better than the latest rejected submission! I loved when you goof around before the race starts, it adds more entertainment value in the movie! And I can't belive you could skip the whole circus level! I'm glad to encode this one.

Voting "meh" because I do think it's a good TAS, but it's really redundant.. Somewhat pointless IMO.

Link to video This SD encode has some parameter mmarks forgot or didn't know about it. PSG High Quality is disabled. The HQx encode is found in the submission text.

I think everything except the last level (Endless Mine) is my input. I'm pretty sure my input could be improved by a few frames, especially in Desert Palace where some laps are faster than others. I have no idea how optimally Endless Mine was done (yet). EDIT: it can definitely be improved, I got a 0"35 faster first lap with Knuckles without much iteration.

Since the movie is so short, you could combine a glitchless run with a glitched run to provide more entertainment.

Nitsuja was right if I can improve areas. There improvement but for now I've discovered in Ballon Park that improve 1 frame improve now I'm in the others. And another thing if you also thought I would try with all the characters in the game to improve

My opion is that the movie is great. As well as it including entertaining glitches it saved a massave time of 39.27 which is a gaint improvment from 2:48.57 to 2:09.30. The desert was aswell good but did look like it had an improvable few frames. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like Pointless Boy's idea about combining it with a glitchless run, that would make it even more entertaining.

You don't really even need a "separate" glitchless run; you could do Match Race mode and have one player play with glitches and one play glitchless.

You only get about 7 seconds before the second player's run is immediately terminated (and given credit for a 10-minute time), and the glitches here save enough time that the glitchless player won't even be able to finish that way.
