Well duh, this find (that is old according to one of the comments) makes no difference for the routing for most of the game, only skips two levels that could be completed super quick anyway.

I've never seen it... though I don't keep up with Spyro 1 or 3 as much as 2. Also, I'm pretty positive from his Sonic 06 videos, the commenter, he meant Touval is breaking the game as bad as Sonic 06 has been. Time saved is time saved. :p

Ah I see about the '06, I just interpreted it the same way Touval did. It's cool that time is being saved (though shame the cool any% skips from Gnorc Cove and Twilight Harbor are gone, I love those levels :(), I wasn't saying that. The nitpicking I'm doing is pointing out that all that Spike wrote is irrelevant - it implies the new discovery makes a change to a route, then spells it out, but all he really did is make the basic requirements for progression in the game that any person who'd played it would know sound interesting. Yeah, I was in a bad mood at the time! :P

You still need 6000 gems to get into Gnasty's World. Also, while the skip in that video was done on PAL (higher jumps I believe), I've now managed to pull it off on NTSC too.

With this skip, completing Gnorc Cove is still a requirement as it opens up the Twilight Harbour head which is needed to make the jump into Gnasty Gnorc. Overall it would save near a minute. Speaking of Gnorc Cove, there's a new skip there too: Link to video

I decided to come up with a very hesitant route for a TAS. It borrows heavily from the current RTA record with some minor changes in some of the levels. I still have quite a bit of stuff I wanna test, but here's what I have as of now and I'd be glad to hear some feedback. I don't have a whole lot of experience with this game, but I understand most of the concepts and I'd like to give routing/TASing a shot. Japanese version might be version of choice. Touval was screwing around with a speedjump thing that looks like it creates more boost. Spyro Jap Ram Some Values... only 4 (sorry not value expert). Speed, Jump Check, Gem Count, Sparx Health*. *Because it's Green Sparkles > Green Confetti > Green > Dead > Spyro Dead.

Speedrun have improved routes and a faster time then the TAS. Also new glitches have been found. Speedrun: 39:46 TAS: 41:38 (Time not converted but it would be slower than speedrun)

Basically, a 100% TAS is always far harder/longer to do than an any%, because the route planning is more complex. As a reference, Nitrofski started a Spyro 3 100% TAS 11 months ago, and he still has around 35% of the TAS to do.

So, since I'm finally done with the laborious project that Spyro 3 117% was, I can go on to something else. I already told many people I was going to give Spyro 1 a shot, starting with any%. Now it's time to announce it here. The planning is going to be the longest part of this TAS. I am going to TAS every potential route, detout and what not for each level and, in the end, find the fastest route possible using the very precise data that I will have gathered. This is also the reason why I chose any%: all the planning I'll have to do will make sure I'm fully prepared for the real project. I'll also be able to do 120% right after if I feel like it.

The base of my TAS route was a cost of 1 second or less for 3 gems (so 1 gem per 20 frames). While my route was overall good, I am looking forward your route to see where it can be improved.
