"Optimized" isn't the word I would use. Over the years of kind of developed a knack for TASing very well using a controller and frame advance. I know for a fact that frames can be saved here and there with optimized analog input (using the TASinput), but I don't care. This game isn't something I care to ever grind optimization down to the frame with. I just want to make an entertaining video. Edit: Then again, it seems to me that a lot of longer solo-TASes which get accepted on this site are even less optimized than this. Sorry for the call out, but it's true. I'll consider submitting when it's done, probably.

I got distracted working on Metroid Prime stuff... here's this https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RfIuxTZnCyJcZm3PrUA57mer2K4av0t38Aw-XwAstbY/pubhtml Looks like with the Mermilar clam skip, we'll have way more then enough shiny objects by the end of the run. Since that skip actually loses time over using the clam, I have a feeling paying it will end up being faster. We just need to make sure we can quickly collect the ~1800 throughout the rest of the run (should be doable). Other than that I've only got 4 more socks to time and add to the route and it should be fully polished with everything currently known about the game.

Sounds awesome! Finally, we'll have a full, polished and completely up-to-date run of this game. Thanks for coming back to this project after Metroid Prime!

OldSchool and I finally started making some progress again last night, we're 23 spatula's into the run at about 18:50. The timesave from route changes we have right now is actually blowing my mind a little. My old TAS collected it's 23rd spatula at 24:30, and as far as I can tell there isn't really a point where we're going to lose the time saved so far. Sub hour seems basically confirmed. Anyway question for knowledgeable people: Does anyone know how we can fix the graphical bugs that happen while running this game with enhancements? I was messing around with settings last night and it seems putting any enhancement on using Direct3D9 causes this graphical glitch. If you're using OpenGL then changing the anisotropic filtering has no negative effects, but any other enhancement also causes this graphical glitch. Here's what it normally looks like As you can see, enhancements really do a lot for this game. I know for SA2 at least, enhancements don't make a huge difference, but for this game everything looks SO crisp. I imagine even if there is a way to fix this problem, it would involve using a different revision and having to start the TAS over, but I figure it's worth asking anyway.

This AR code fixes the red triangles issue, with the side effect of also disabling some stuff, but mainly character shadows and the targeting icon for the Bubble Bowl. Pick your poison :) 043CD020 00000000 This next one "disables" (really just hides) the ugly blue box at the top-left of the screen for resolutions of 3x and under: 043CD048 437FA000 043CD04C 3A500000 4x also works from what I've seen, but there may be some areas of the game where the blue box shows up again. 2x and below seem to produce the best results, though (with EFB scale on.) I'll see if I can improve the code some. These codes took absolutely forever for me to make, so I hope you enjoy them :P Semi-High Res. Screenshot:

1. I'll follow the progress of this. 2. How did you figure out the AR Codes? 3. Do those codes affect sync? 4. Do those bugs still occur in the latest revisions? If so, might want to report them (or maybe you did, idk).

2. I actually don't remember how I found the addresses o.O It's been quite a while since I actually made the codes. What I do know is that I had to do a lot of messing about with Cheat Search, since there's no readily apparent values for the box, unlike, say, your health or your Shiny Object count. 3. I haven't tested this. 4. I don't actually think they're bugs with the emulator, but rather, with the game itself. I believe the blue box is actually there on console, but the resolution is too low for you to actually be able to see it. I could be wrong, though.

I wonder how practical it'd be to encode both and overlay the low quality encode without enhancements with some effects to make the shadows/bubble bowl icon more pronounced in the high quality encode... lol. Edit: Ehhhh the codes seem to effect sync somehow so I guess we'll never know.

Hey look I solved the Prawn skip clip without Cruise Bubble, that means we can do it pre-Robo Patrick and save some time on cutting out a load screen and having CB for an extra spatula later Link to video By the way, the TAS is at this point now, 26 spatula's in. (And progress should be made a more quickly once I have my new computer up and running in a couple days and won't have to put up with my laptop overheating).

Things like this makes me wonder if it's allowed to have TASes of multiple console versions of a game solely due to situations like this. Maybe I'll ask again once xbox360/PS3 TASes get made a decade later. Hm

How's it going itsPersonnal? I know you're busy with Metroid Prime, but I thought I'd ask.

We're only a couple rooms past when I last posted in here... Lol. Days actual progress is made on this TAS are pretty sparse, but generally when Oldschool and I get together we do make a lot in one sitting. I mean we started this almost a year ago and have only worked on it a handful of times since then. Maybe I'll make a point of hitting him up and working on this again soon. I sort of exhausted myself with Prime lately, I guess I could use a change of pace. Edit: Oh actually, I guess I can share the lastest WIP, I don't really care about keeping the run a secret until it's finished anymore. Link to video

Wow, the run is looking fantastic so far! Those BBBJs are insane. Can't imagine what it'll be like once you get the CB. A question, what's up with the screen cutting to black occasionally? Is that just a problem with dumping the game in general?

It's a Vegas issue, it won't be there in the final encode. I just forgot to take the precautions to avoid it happening and didn't want to render the video again since it's just an unlisted video.

He's playing the Xbox version, which has way faster load times than the GC version.

Link to video Shift's submission video for Early Powers (basically using a cheat code to get BB/CB immediately). Notable for having Camper Skip and Reverse Cruise Boost in it.

Could I have the time stamps for Camper Skip and Reverse Cruise Boost? I'm not sure what those are.

26:16 for RCB and 42:36 Camper Skip RCB is basically doing the Cruise Boost inputs backwards, which saves a second each time but it's hard to do. Camper skip is....well, he explains it.

I'm missing the difference between CB and RCB. Looks the exact same to me.
