'RCB is basically doing the Cruise Boost inputs backwards, which saves a second each time but it's hard to do. ' Notice how he positions the camera so it's to Spongebob's side, and Spongebob does that weird 'crouching' thing? That's a RCB.
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

Um. The inputs for a cruise boost would be the same backwards. It's done by pressing two buttons on the same frame... I see no visual difference in animations also. Is there a video or actual write-up somewhere that explains this? Specifically how it saves time? It looks exactly identical to how my TASes have done it, but with a sideways camera.

Nice. That was amazing, especially the Skee-Ball Abuse and Slides/Kelp. 1. What just happened in the Annoy Squidward video? 2. Is there more information on DCB? Like is done compared to normal cruise boost? (Actually, what was the difference between the types of cruise boosts again, sorry forgot). 3. The animation skips are quite clever. Nice.

1. There is a trigger, that is just above Spongebob's head when on ground level, which counts each jump to annoy Squidward. There is no cooldown between each activation cycle, you simply need to enter and exit the zone. And it just so happens that you can weave in and out of this trigger every other frame by standing on the lip of the tiki. 2. DCB stands for "Displacement Cruise Boost" and is essentially no different from a regular CB mechanically. A CB stores your Bubble Bowl(BB) momentum by interrupting the animation with Cruise Bubble. This requires touching a wall (unless you are on flat ground and have no momentum). The amount of speed a BB has is solely determined by the distance Spongebob moved on the previous frame. Regular walking speed is 5, and the lowest possible BB speed (and therefore slowest CB speed) is ~0.6. A DCB is simply a CB where the technique is executed on the frame of a large displacement. Commonly this is done using the Bubble Ball displacement, but it can also be done through Spongeball displacement storage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jknPNcLWOM) and presumably tiki or enemy displacement (I don't have videos of this). If you've ever wondered why non-TAS CB takes two iterations to get "full speed", this is why. The second execution is done while holding straight left or right, and the 5 speed gained from walking left/right is the speed which ends up being stored. "Instant Cruise Boost" (ICB) is also the same mechanic, but it is done by aligning Spongebob's position a perfect distance away from a wall, whereby the travel time to the wall is a distance 5 units higher than your base speed, such that the momentum it stacks +5 units (optimally) each time. Edit: And one last thing! Having too much speed can cause a LBowl rather than a CB input. Currently, I have not managed to get higher than 27 speed with DCB. Anything more seems to always clip and therefore not meet the aforementioned "touching a wall" requirement. 3. Thanks~ ^_^

Happy new year. So that new tech -storing vertical speed through loads (VMS/Vertical Momentum Storage)- is possible on both Hans respawn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGP8p1EeTKQ And in-level warps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umE7vCPnrDQ Both use a new method of displacement that I theorized a few days ago. Basically, throwing a bowling ball while currently standing on one causes you to reposition along with the bubble ball object. Since Spongebob's hand is higher than his feet, you reposition up between ~40-100 units depending on position and facing angle. It is only for 1 frame that you can utilize this, but that's no issue for TAS.' Oh, and the point of the second video there, is that jumping into the Hans respawn trigger at the start of Krab's dream will skip the cutscene, which actually saves time (but this level isn't in the Any% route because it's still slow lol)

Here's a write-up I made for a pastebin recently
In Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, there is an address in memory which relates to a strange ‘feature’ the community has coined “Reboot Clip”. When the game is powered on, this address (802DC940 on NTSC GC) will have a value 0. The only known way to influence this value is by using Cruise Bubble, which adds + ~0.0333… each time it is used normally. If you attempt to L clip while the Reboot Clip value is low (below ~0.4) Spongebob will have an easier time phasing through collision, since, for some reason, the duration of the laggy-intangibility is made longer. Unfortunately, each frame of the laggy-intangibility of an L clip acts as if pressing L, so if it takes 5 frames to phase through collision, the value will increase by ~0.166. For the best results, you need a Cruise Boost state with stored negative vertical speed to clip efficiently (least frames), but even still, sometimes the Reboot Clip value can increase at upwards of +0.5 from just a single clip if it’s angle of approach is sub-optimal or it’s collision is complex. Reboot Clips seem to function sort of similar to Xbox/PS2 Lag Clipping, but they are actually possible on Dolphin/GC (and on those other consoles, they have an additional effect). Once the Reboot Clip value increases, as mentioned earlier, rebooting your console is the only way to lower it. Beyond a value of ~0.5, it really stops to produce any useful results, so it’s viability non-TAS is fairly low- especially since each time you Cruise Boost, it will increase, and the non-TAS CB method has twice as many L presses. (And, having speeds above regular non-TAS CB speed can allow you to clip in fewer frames, and therefore add less to the value). In a TAS setting, there are 3 theorized Reboot Clips that could save time, 2 of them taking place in the Rolling Ball Room (to get in and out from the BRC Spatula), and 1 for Drain the Lake in Jellyfish Fields. I am currently attempting to minimize this value as much as possible without losing time, in order to have it lower than ~0.45 by the time I reach the JF clip. I don't know if this is doable yet. Here’s a video demonstrating the concept with a live address viewer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkGH6w-tCIY And yes, I do know that I didn't bowl the button in this video. I will work on finding the best way to do that later.
And then here's some other stuff: Robo Sandy phase 2 optimization: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPa-26DsoGc Text storage invulnerability making a thunder tiki damage boost possible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syumkOXlPgg A new Drain The Lake strat and it's new theory method using Reboot Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyjbUR6F4MI Prawn setup for Saving Glitch in mid-game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjleRpieYlQ Oh also, the Any% is At Goo Lagoon, post Robo-Sandy. I'm about twice as fast as the 2014 TAS, ~8 minutes ahead.
