...the recorded video actually end up being different than what I actually did when recording the video? For example, when I'm playing say Dragon Quest III, I'll go from Reeve all the way to the Cave of Temptation, yet halfway there, my character will all of a sudden start walking in random directions and will keep on examining the ground over and over again. Why does this happen I wonder? Has any other users experienced problems like this?

It's called desync. The emulator isn't working deterministically. Why are you using ZSNES?

Because as far as I know, it's the best ZSNES emulator around. What emulator should I be using if I want to record videos?

TASVideos recommends SNES9X. The only thing ZSNES has that SNES9X doesn't is a dedicated rewind button. SNES9X v1.43+ and v1.51+ are both accepted, but v1.43+ is sort of depreciated.

Alright, I just switch over to Snes9X 1.43, and I'm still experiencing desynching problems. I tried switching it over to 48hz, as some users suggested, and it's still desynching. Is there any other suggestions for fixing this problem? EDIT: The game I'm trying to play is "The 7th Saga" by the way.

http://code.google.com/p/snes9x-rr/downloads/list Did you get snes9x-1.43-rerecording-v17-win32.zip ? If no, download the proper version. If yes, consider using 1.51 v6.

I had serious desync problems with my Road Runner movie as well. I could solve them by setting sound rate to 48000Hz (necessary for audio to sync to video, as 32000Hz isn't implemented properly) and turning "flexible sound sample mix" OFF. I use 1.43svn123 and 1.51svn113. This option may be called slightly different in other versions. The sound will be worse while playing, but it won't make any difference in the final AVI (or MKV or whatever).
