A homebrew NES game in developement. Get the Demo here
The game's about punching bats. You get a boxing glove for that which you can also use to boost yourself off walls (even moreso with powerups you can find). With its smooth gameplay and room for tricks and so on, I think it might make an excellent TAS.
You also get a little bird companion thing you can control with the second controller which may also come in handy.
Here's a small, unoptimized wip of the Demo up to level 1.
WIP up to level 2, still as unoptimized
For bosses, the little bird thing is a huge help, but recording 2 players at a time is a massive pain. Any way to remedy this?
I'm happy this got your attention so fast.
Some of the old members may remember me. I don't check the forum much these days, but I still enjoy watching TASes and am hoping the game appeals to you guys in some way.
The full version is going to take a while until it's finished, I'd love to see a run of the demo, submitted to the site or not, up to the end of the secret level or the second credits screen maybe.
Enjoying the WIP so far!

I made a full TAS, so I thought I'd share as well. Unoptimized.
At 2:05 in the video, I tried climbing the vine and boosting over to the ledge with the door. I came soooooo close (like 1 or 2 pixels) but eventually I gave up. Just throwing that out there incase anyone decides to improve upon this or something.
Yes, I found that out after I finished haha. Plus there are some overall bad decisions on my part like when going for the jetpack, I took damage by the bat to pass some spikes, but I could have done without damage and not have to die later on.

For posterity, here's something I found some time ago. Pretty precise skip. You may be able do it from the vine.

//I also noticed it's possible to skip the Wall Boost upgrade by doing a damage boost off one of the bats. You can proceed as normal, but I don't think it saves any time.

A slight optimization. By holding Up and Jumping on the vine as the boxing glove hits, you can get a full height jump off the vine, which allows you to clear the gap from much lower.
Input file #2
I decided to pick up the demo and make a full TAS of this game.

Two questions:
1.Is this game publishable?
Super Bat Puncher is a homebrew game on the NES. A demo containing two levels has been released all the way back in 2011, but since then, very little has been heard from the game. The developers have since moved to other projects, which leads me to believe that the game is cancelled. As of now, the Demo is all that exists of Super Bat Puncher, and I do not want to wait any longer. The game definitely is TAS-worthy material, and I think it'd be a big shame if it couldn't be on the site because of the promise of a full version that may never happen.
EDIT: I've recieved word from the game's dev, who has confirmed the game is pretty much dead at this point.
2.When should I end the game?
After you defeat the second boss, the credits trigger. After the end, gameplay resumes and you can go to an area in the game to compelete a difficult bonus stage to get an extra item (see RaijinXBlade's old TAS). Most speedrunners I've seen (all three of them) exclude the bonus stage. Including the extra stage might add extra entertainment to the run, at the cost of having to sit through an unskippable credits sequence for a minute.
Yeah.
