Trying too "speedrun" FF7, without deaths/saves, and at lowest level as possible. Would be cool if someone else would join in on this _crazy_ attempt... Have no idea how too prove that it is legit, cause it will be too long too record or anything. Was thinking of taking a picture every hour from the beginning too the end or something... *shrug* comments about proving that its NOT been cheated will be appritiated... :)

Can't you tape it with a VCR? Wouldn't it take quite a long time though? Could it even be done in less than 15 hours?

ye, u can tape it with a VCR... but as u said its prob not possible too do it in less then 15 hours. Thinking out ways of doing it atm, but as u progress trough the game some of the bosses are gonne be extremly hard considering the low level u have too be able too do it :~)

I've recorded myself playing Suikoden, although it was only the text and story bits mostly, with some boss battles. I watch it every so often and it's about 9 hours I think on two video tapes. If it's interesting, I'd watch anything. If it's got annoying bits (Orcarina of Time speed run with constant rolling, thus making Link shout every 1 second), I'll watch in very small bits. But I'll watch it :p

I recorded meselfplaying Castlevania SOTN before, it was a 6 hour tape, i beat in like 5 hours, getting everything. It was interesting to watch, i also made one of star ocean 2 the second story but i had to use 2 tapes, was 12 hours. If i had a device that could let me copy the movie to my computer, i would redo castlevania SOTN, i think i am very good at that game. Star ocean 2 i will not do, i dont have a big enough HD to fit that whole thing on. Also boring to watch.
When scores are drawn, who will you die for?

SOTN can be finished in under an hour with Alucard, even quicker with Axelord, and in ~10 minutes with Richter.
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

I can admit that i watch the ocarina of time speedrun too, and some other ones that does take awhile... But i gotta see how it works out first, would prob be really great too have the speedrun complete on tape, FF is a very large game doh and even getting it on the comp would take _alot_ of space :)

Maybe you can just record the highlights, like major boss battles. Make sure to pause to show what level your character is at.

I recorded my New Game + playthrough of Disgaea. With all of the 'cutscenes' and letting the dialogue play to completion, it was around six hours. Edit: Just to give an example of how short some games really are without levelling up ;)

That's crazy talk. The midi sounds waaaay better on PC, and the gfx are better. Everything else is pretty much the same though.

That's crazy talk. The midi sounds waaaay better on PC, and the gfx are better. In my opinion, it's the total opposite. The music sounds much better on the console. I can't remember entirely, but I seem to recall that the 'One Winged Angel' theme was significantly different on the PC version, for the worse. Plus, the PC version is full of silly glitches, like the minigames going as fast as your PCs processor can handle.

Why not play it in an emulator? Wasn't there a rerecording-plugin for some psx-emu. Wouldn't that help?

oh right, the motorcycle game was fast, but I think it was only in 1 gfx mode (forgot if it was software or d3d that did it). The others seemed better. As for "One Winged Angel", I haven't heard that on the PSX version since I saw my friend beat the game before I ever played it. I think it sounds good on the PC though. Just not sure if it's better or worse for PSX.

As I recall, the PC version never had the voices in the song. At least, the one we played didn't have it, I think...

Yeah, that's right, the PC version was just a midi like the rest of the music. The PSX version had the full-orchestrated vocal deal.

Uh, what songs had vocals for the PSX version? I don't recal any.

Doh, yeah, when you said vocals I thought you meant singing. You know, with words. Silly me. OK, I'm going to check out the OST to see how much of a difference there is. I have all the midi files from FF7, so no problem comparing. :D

also, I think an ff7 speed run would be kinda neat. Might not watch or download it all in one sitting, but if it were split up into maybe 1-2 hour parts, it would certainly be easier on the hard drive space, and it could be released as the speed run goes on. Just a thought.
