This is the part where you slowly back out of the conversation, giving only cursory acknowledgement to what just happened and never talk about it again.

"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

I think arflech's post was distasteful and highly inappropriate.

Do you sexually fantasize about her?

No. I just said this to lighten up the conversation, actually... I could write about the things I like about Scootaloo's character but I don't want to, at the moment.

Ok, it's official: The creators of the show are nerds: Random vaguely mathematic-looking gibberish? Nope, real time dilation equations. I'm officially impressed.

I don't mind the mold so much, I see how it'd be expensive to create new ones and besides, I don't even care that much for the toys. What irks me is the cover art. It's not exactly difficult to create a show-accurate vector of Lyra, so how come they can't do that?
So the picture matches the toy you bought! :P If the sculpted Cheerilee is a recolor of Applejack, then so is the picture of Cheerilee, right down to the freckles that the toys don't have.

I'd personally prefer showing off the equations of fluid dynamics relevant to today's episode...

Just because she's an astrophysicist doesn't mean she knows anything about fluid dynamics... :P

Of course, but maybe the leader of the Wonderbolts could have shown off exactly why a region of super-high wind can suck up a lake...

You know, one thing that bugs me about this show: None of the main characters really seemed to have much of a social life before Malificent Nightmare Moon. About half their cases I can understand: Twilight Sparkle was established to be an antisocial bookworm and Fluttershy is effectively a shut-in crazy cat lady. Rainbow Dash has had one previous social contact make an entrance, but swiftly broke that one up; otherwise, she's been presented as something of the school loner and freak. But what about everyone else? Rarity is an high society socialite; where are her upper class twit friends? Applejack is a farmer and a businesswoman, both of which require extended contacts to be successful at either; why is she never really seen talking to anyone outside her family? And then Pinkie Pie! You'd think the local party girl would be incredibly popular! But no, she's only ever hanging out with the other five. In short, why do none of the other characters say, "Twilight, I have someone I'd like you to meet"? (note I have not seen every episode, this is just the impression I've come away with)

The better question is why there seems to be a whole generation of missing ponies. Granny smith, apple jack and her brother, but where are her parents? Where do the middle aged ponies end up? Even Princess celistia must have parents somewhere, but they don't seem to factor into pony politics. Is this ever explained? I must have missed the pony plague that kills all ponies over the age of 30 episode.

At the very least Twilight (flashback in season 1) and Rarity (present day in season 2) have had their parents shown. It's not that they don't exist, it's just that the primary cast are old enough to live on their own, and do. Besides, having parents within arm's reach makes for less interesting stories.

Don't forget Pinkie Pie's parents. Word of God(dess) is that Applejack's parents are supposed to be dead, but that won't fly on a show for little girls, so they're just never mentioned.

You forget that it's a kids' show. Complex social interactions with a myriad of characters is boring; kids don't dig that. But if you want to handwave it: The interactions happen off-screen. We are just shown the most interesting parts of their lives.

At least Pinkie Pie has mentioned several times that she "knows everyone in Ponyville", in the first episode no less. And in A Friend in Deed was shown on good terms with quite a few Ponies. Applejack's way of business doesn't seem to go farther than selling goods at stands, which sure should build a few relations but not terribly so I think. Also, her family is pretty big :P. Rarity's situation is kind of odd I guess, but there doesn't seem to be many "upper class twit friends" for her to socialize with in Ponyville, she does go to a ton of parties and stuff in Canterlot during Sweet and Elite. She's also kind of a workaholic, no time for friends yo! And I don't know about you but my friend circles tend to stay separate *shrug*.
