It's fan fiction. Fan fiction of all things imaginable have had a reputation of being unbearably stupid since the idea of fan fiction came out. I am not surprised.

I tried reading some fanfic, most of them makes me lose my mind and give up reading halfway. I'm not interested in grimdark, shipping, story centers on OC. I'm mostly interested in sad stories. There only 3 fanfic I actually read from begin to end: 1. My Little Dashie 2. The Cold Hand of Mercy (EQD)(FIMFic) 3. I forgot what was the 3rd called... it was about earthquake happening in Manehatten (or Baltimare?), then eventually turns out there's ton of huge disaster all over the world and world is nearing end. Mane 6 ponies would have to sacrifice their life to turn the world back to normal. I recommend The Cold Hand of Mercy, it's my top pick. I put link up there just in case if anyone want to read.

I downloaded it because it was free and tried it for a little while, but at least the first impression was not very enticing. I like the show because of the writing, animation, the humor, the character development... The game was basically bereft of any of that. Also it's a game aimed at young children, and they tend to be a bit simplistic, repetitive and boring. (Although this critique is with the admitted caveat that I didn't play it very far.)
