Question: Are the ponies in the show really 100% vegetarian? ...
Interesting question. They're shown harvesting eggs as part of that Sisterhood Social race, implying that they do use the eggs. There's strong implications of drinking cow's milk and at least one instance of eating cheese. Other arguments have been made before. They've been seen eating tomatoes which is actually poisonous to real horses. Though they were intended to be "like real ponies but modified" said modifications are open to interpretation; apparently that includes making them able to eat some human-compatible food to help us relate, but they still eat hay to remind us they're equine. Also, just to blow your mind completely, the Apple family raises pigs. Presumably for the benefit of the occasional carnivorous griffin coming to town. And griffins eat apples, because that's what lions and/or eagles eat. Wait, what? I think the MST3K mantra applies.

Yeah, it's interesting that some carnivorous animals are shown from time to time, yet we never see them eating. I suppose it's purposefully avoided and ignored because it would otherwise raise rather odd moral questions, given that all the animals are shown to have some kind of higher sentience (eg. even mice and birds can understand and react to speech.)

The MLP:FiM comics seem very different in terms of artwork from the show. Look at, for example, their depiction of Queen Chrysalis. She's borderline nightmare fuel!

Yeah, but the authors have specifically stated that they're doing the comics specifically for the bronies and don't have to adhere to the same rules that the TV folks do. Speaking of comics, I saw a sample of the 3D Comic #1 up on Deviantart. It's 20% cooler than 2D.

You mean this? It's been sitting on my message box for a while, in the same tab as my deviantWATCH for some reason. :P

I think they are missing the point a bit. One of the major reasons why FiM is so much better than the previous generations is because the characters are so super-cute.

Well, the issue with doing it for the fans isn't the character designs, in my view. Kids can take more than we give them credit for: while that Chrysalis may give some young'in nightmares, it won't permanently stunt them. I honestly think an occasional scare is a good thing for a child, but I can't quite articulate why. No, the issue with writing for the fans is the danger of locking out new readers. The art may be nifty, but I've always been disappointed by how much focus is given to the popular background characters. Pandering to the fans rarely results in more than an inscrutable wall of inside jokes and, for lack of a better term, mass circlejerking.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

This is also something that they often misunderstand. One of the major reasons why background characters in this kind of show with very little screentime and no dialogue get popular is because it excites the imaginations of the fanbase: They like to imagine what those characters really are like, what they do (that's not shown), what kinds of relationships they have, and so on. Now the creators (or some other officially endorsed parties) think like "hey, this character is really popular among the fans, let's ascend it and bring it to the front and give it more screentime and dialogue". The problem with this is that they end up destroying 99% of the characterization that the fans had imagined. This can make, rather ironically, the character flatter and less interesting than it was before. (I'm not saying this happens always, of course.)

There's 6 more days until the 26th episode in Japan. While we're anticipating the return of Nightmare Moon, the Japanese are anticipating the introduction to Discord in their dub. It was a couple months ago I preordered My Little Pony: The Magic Begins. It had a lot of delays because it was behind in production. It happened every Tuesday, but it didn't happen this Tuesday. Thank Celestia for that.

In the episode "Hearts and Hooves Day", during the song "The Perfect Stallion", look at what the ponies are doing during the line "this one's too old." I'm rather surprised.

Not as creepy as fanart such as this, which for some reason keeps reminding me of the enemies of a certain DS game I am TASing. :o

I am reminded of the GBA version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone where the night levels were easy as heck due to a programming oversight that made the teachers detection range far smaller than what the sprite would've imply. :P What did that video remind you of, warp?

Thief and Assassin's Creed are rather obvious, but parts of it also reminded me of The Score and Entrapment. (Of course the ending references Equestria Girls, but I think you were not asking that.)

I would like to try to hack Super Mario Kart, and make it into a MLP themed hack. This is my idea: Having the mane six and the princesses as playable characters. Lightweights - Pegasus Ponies - Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash Semi-lightweights - Earth Ponies - Pinkie Pie and Applejack Middleweights - Unicorn Ponies - Twilight and Rarity Heavyweights - Princess Ponies - Celestia and Luna Items Apple - Speed boost Bouncy Balls - Projectiles (blue ricochets, red homes) Pegasus Wing - Spin Jump Banana Peel - Place on track Bits - Gives 2 bits Magic Sparkle - Invincibility, temporal speed boost Rainbow Bolt - Shrinks all opponents ??? - Steals items CPU items Invincibility - Used by Twilight and Rarity Prank Flower - Used by Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash Bouncy Ball - Used by Fluttershy Spoiled Apple - Used by Applejack Banana Peel - Used by Luna Solar Orb - Used by Celestia Cups Apple Cup Balloon Cup Sparkle Cup Rainbow Cup Tracks Ponyville Canterlot Everfree Forest Badlands Appleloosa Cloudsdale Crystal Empire Celestial Road There is I think a 16-character limit for the character names on the results screen, an a 8-character limit on the track records. There is a 14-character limit on the track names (before adding the number at the end) And have Derpy as the flag carrier. There are 8 background and sprite palettes used, and Rainbow Dash would use a majority of a palette. I'll try to make good use of all 256 colors at once (out of a possible 32,768). And Pinkie Pie would be easy, 'cause you know, pink is used in a sprite palette. I'll use Epic Edit, MS Paint, Tile Layer Pro, and maybe Translhextion. I may not edit the music, but someone else may try. Editing the title screen, title will be Super Pony Kart.

Given that earth ponies tend to be physically stronger and more accustomed to physical labor, while unicorns are accustomed to make most tasks with magic, shouldn't that be the other way around? (And please, no wings for Twilight. Perhaps if we pretend that episode didn't happen, it will disappear.)

I know. You like OLD Twilight more than NEW Twilight. I mean, yeah. I am not making her an Alicorn. I'll keep it even. I may change up the stats a little to give AJ and Pinkie more oomph. Hex editing would be a breeze, if I can get the name table to work. Course Selection:
>APPLE CUP >PONYVILLE 1
 BALLOON CUP CANTERLOT 1
 SPARKLE CUP EVERFREEFOREST1
               BADLANDS 1
               PONYVILLE 2
With Rainbow Cup unlocked:
 APPLE CUP >CANTERLOT 3
 BALLOON CUP CLOUDSDALE 2
 SPARKLE CUP EVERFREEFOREST3
 RAINBOW CUP CRYSTAL EMPIRE2
               CELESTIAL ROAD
Character Names:
Character Name Results Screen Track Records
Twilight Sparkle TWILIGHT SPARKLE TWILIGHT
Rarity RARITY RARITY
Pinkie Pie PINKIE PIE PINKIE
Applejack APPLEJACK AJ
Princess Celestia PRINCESSCELESTIA CELESTIA
Princess Luna PRINCESS LUNA LUNA
