I think that the pilot episodes of season 4 were quite ok. They set up an interesting potential season-length storyline (although it's yet to be seen if they will follow it up, or just leave it for the season finale.) As for season 3, I don't think it was that bad. I liked Too Many Pinkie Pies, Magic Duel and Wonderbolts Academy. I also liked Sleepless in Ponyville if for nothing else, then because it was very close a plot that I had wished they'd do (ie. someone of the crusaders would get lost in the woods; and I was thinking about Scootaloo in particular.) I loved Apple Family Reunion because I love the accents... I don't know what is it with the southern/Ozarks accent, but I just love it. (I have a similar guilty pleasure with the so-called posh English accent or "Queen's English".) I would have loved if Keep Calm And Flutter On would have been a two-parter season finale (instead of the episode-that-should-not-be-named), with the same plot but more in depth and with more detailed character development. As it was, it felt kind of rushed, although otherwise I think it was ok.

I bet that the Season 4 finale will involve what is in the box. The very first episode is what started this whole trend. The Ticket Master began a three story arc of the Grand Galloping Gala. The other two were Suited for Success and The Best Night Ever. Speaking of which, the Season 1 finale happens to be one of the funniest season closers ever. The Season 2 opener introduces us to Discord. It was even better than the pilot in terms of animation. Also the first use of 3D. Season 2 also changes things related to friendship reports. There were also great songs like The Smile Song and This Day Aria. Season 3 like we say, cut short to 13 episodes. A story arc takes up the entire 4th season. Season 4's premiere was more detailed than the others. The next episode, Flight to the Finish centers around Scootaloo. As for the Japanese dub of the next episode (Baby Cakes) we are bound to hear 2 more songs in Japanese. Their 2 ambiguous projects in the song dubbing will be the Smile Song and the Flim Flam Brothers Song. Not much for Becoming Popular and Love Is In Bloom however... Hearth's Warming Eve airs in Japan on the 24th. We expect A Canterlot Wedding airing on the 25th of March in Japan. Wonder if Bushiroad would make a My Little Pony anime?

I'm having a hard time finding a decent card shop that doesn't deal only in MtG.

Assuming Flim and Flam gets decent dub voices I would really like to see what they do with a Japanese Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000. Reminds me that I should take a listen to what Discord sounds like in Japanese, but I'm not having any expectations given the dub's track record.

Episodes I would like to see in the show (but will most probably never happen): - One of the cutie mark crusaders gets her cutie mark, while the others still don't. This causes drama, with the crusader who got the mark getting mixed feelings of joy and irrational guilt. (Probably not going to happen because it would have a too serious tone.) - A sad/melancholic episode akin to the Snowdrop fan video. (Probably not going to happen because it would be too depressing for the overall tone of the show.) - An episode giving in-depth character development for Queen Chrysalis. Not a heel-face turn episode (like with Discord), not an "I'm taking over the world!" episode, just character development. Slice-of-life of a baddie (who might at some level even be a bit sympathetic.) (Probably not going to happen, because.) - A new pony arrives at Ponyville. She's wearing a cloth that covers her flank. It's later revealed that even though she's an adult she has no cutie mark, and she's embarrassed by the fact! The crusaders are intrigued. (I have no idea what the resolution would be. A boring one would be that she gets her cutie mark by discovering her true talent. A more interesting one would have her still not getting any mark even by the end of the episode, but there being some kind of lesson about tolerance and acceptance.)

Let me just say how awesome the new episode was Oh my god! I just loved everything, the jokes, the CMC conflict, and the FEELS! And the songs, now I gotta rewatch this ep 10 times until I can calm down (unlike the last two episodes that were just bland) We got to see where Scootaloo lives too. It's not in the CMC clubhouse

Not very spoilerific, but just in case: When the head of the equestria games said "everypony will be judged on grace, style and originality" I was immediately thinking "oh no, will this be just a rehash of 'The Show Stoppers', where it's clear to everybody and their grandmother what the role of each crusader should be, but they stubborningly refuse to do so?" To my relief, it was not an episode like that, and that line of dialogue had no significance. What I didn't like about the episode was RD getting the idiot ball in the first half. The whole thing about being "professional", calm and collected was just stupid. And even then, being collected does not mean you can't praise someone. (Of course Scootaloo got the idiot ball also, to some degree, but that's more forgivable due to her age.) (Btw, it seems that spoiler tags do not hide links. Well, seeing the name of the link shouldn't spoil anything... :P )

"The head of the Equestria Games." I knew I shouldn't have watched Hunger Games last night.

Btw, this episode establishes that Scootaloo really can't fly because of a physical disability (too small wings), unlike other pegasi of the same age. In other words, it was not just that she's too young to fly. No, she really can't fly, and probably never will. That really made me feel sorry for her...

So that wasn't even primarily a Rainbow Dash episode but it was still a better Rainbow Dash episode than episode four. Easily the best of the season so far. Now just keep going like this. Also, I could swear that the song was based on some other song. Was that just me? And wing size... is suddenly weird. Snowflake (or whatever the official name of the super buff pony is) has the tiniest fucking wings, yet he can fly just fine. Else it would make sense for him to have the same disability as Scootaloo.

It's just a visual pun (of what, I'll leave that up to interpretation.) Don't read too much logic into it.

Btw, this episode was considered remarkable because it showed that Scootaloo isn't homeless. The whole homelessness thing is a fan theory, and I can't really understand why people would think that. What sense does it make? This is not only Equestria in general, but Ponyville in particular, where everybody knows everybody else and are more than willing to help those in need. Homelessness would seem a completely alien and bizarre concept. (And no, I'm not talking about the prevailing theory that Scootaloo is an orphan. I'm really talking about the somewhat prevalent concept that she's also homeless.)

The next episode Power Ponies is the first episode to be rated TV-Y7. So expect to see the Mane Six kick some serious flank.

Thing that did hit me just now: Was this the first episode since the beginning of the show to feature only one of the main six, without any sort of appearance from any of the other five? I can't think of any earlier episode that did that.

A quick scan of the episode list, and skimming the episode itself, shows "Family Appreciation Day" (season 2 episode 12), though a CMC episode, I couldn't find any appearance of any of the mane six except Applejack.
