So, some people interested in IV manipulation have been exploring Pokemon XD: Pokemon Storage Structure: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3808418&postcount=789 Some useful Memory locations: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3856832&postcount=791 Method of IV generation: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3861237&postcount=794 With this out of the way, it allows for manipulation of IVs for Pokemon in XD, which is one major factor in planning a TAS. Hopefully, this can be the start of exploring this game for that purpose.

How about a 100% run: All Shadow Pokémon captured and purified?
Why, oh, why do I even <i>try</i> to understand my own species?

In addition to that, how about making them all shiny? Since shiny pokemon are usually rare, a TAS that has all shadow pokemon would be a nice "suprise".

It is actually impossible for XD-created mons to be shiny, it has been discovered. So that rules that option out. Besides, the shiny animation at the start of each fight would get annoying and wastes time.

and all those 12 year-old pokemon fanboys wouldn't stop shouting "FAKE!!!" and "CHEATER!" for ages-.-
How should I know what I think before I read what I post?

Would similar things apply for Pokemon Colosseum?

What is this mode and how do you access it?

From my understand, XD and Colosseum use the same sort of data structure, albeit slightly different memory addresses of course. Note that Mild with all 31 IVs is impossible in the handheld games due to how the Pokemon seed is generated in those games, but it is possible here (the other known GC nature with flawless IVs so far is Relaxed) I assume this mode is the memory watch feature in Dolphin. I didn't do any of this research, but I am highlighting it here so interested people can work on a TAS of Colosseum and XD.

They've not done much. Until IV manipulation is used, this TAS is not worth pursuing.

I could tell just by Eevee's base HP, but I did ask Rene to be sure. Stat manipulation is an important part of any Pokemon TAS, you can't just avoid doing it and hope for the best.

It's one of the most important parts. The only other is manipulating critical hits. Otherwise there is nothing to it a console player couldn't do as well.

Since it sounds like a normal speedrun and not a TAS: http://speeddemosarchive.com/

21 hours is almost certainly too long for a speedrun of that game, though, even if it's a 100%. (Toothache probably has a better idea of what sort of time you should be aiming for than I do.)

Yeah I remember a while back someone was doing realtime runs of XD and they were toting around 6 hours for single segment, you're probably looking closer to 5 for an optimal segmented run.

Reopening this discussion. I watched Rene's TAS progress up to Gateon Port just to reflect. First things first, nowadays we don't pick up the Water Stone like Rene did (at least non-TAS) and Rene himself still did not answer my comment. Second, there are other minor details that we know are slower in real-time runs. First, we forfeit the battle sim because it still allows us to progress and it's faster than even winning on one turn, let alone two; and we also view the ONBS news before going into Adon's room. And finally, to answer toothache. I actually watched a 4:37 run just recently, making a TAS of XD that much more desirable. I also commented just now in the Colosseum forum. Exact same engine as Colosseum, except XD rerolls Shadow Pokémon if they are shiny, and of course, the story (being a sequel set 5 years after the events of Colosseum) which means different starting setup and different fights.
