I'm having a problem with Bizhawk and can't seem to figure out what to do about it : from times to times when I use a QuickLoad the emulator freezes (it doesn't respond and keeps repeating the last note of music). It may not seem to be too bad but it happens vers 10-20 quicksaves and it's just impossible to practice like that so if anyone has suggestions I'm open to it.

Using which game on which core? This sounds most likely due to the savestate logic being a bit wrecked in that case

I've had the issue with all three games I played (Ducktales, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Darkwing Duck) on the NES.

then it sounds like your hard disk is about to break. but try disabling rewind and see what happens

Disabling rewind indeed works but my disk is fairly new and it seems to work just fine, could it be because it's a SSD (Samsung SSD 850 EVO)? EDIT: After some more testing it still crashes, maybe a little less often but I'm not sure (I've tested this by spamming different savestats, which might not have been an exceptional idea).

no, it cannot be because it's an SSD. can you jam on the same loadstate key over and over and get it within a few seconds of testing? are you in quicknes or neshawk?

I'm on quicknes. It crashes fairly quickly when I spam the same quickload indeed. I tried putting BizHawk on one of my HDD and it doesn't seem to crash anymore, but I have no idea what could be wrong with the SSD...

quicker hard disks can cause problems too. Faster timing exposes different bugs. Maybe nothing wrong with your SSD. Of course, I'm sure bizhawk's been tested on a boatload of SSDs so I don't see how that answers anything. I did some serious spamming of ducktales in quicknes and couldnt make anything bad happen. Try turning off your security software.

On BizHawk 1.11.3, using VBA-Next core. I'm not sure if I'm going nuts or not, but the SaveRam for "Monster House (USA) (En,Fr).gba" is rather bugged. For some reason, if I save in game, then reset core or close the emulator, the save file doesn't get updated and just writes "FF" for all values when viewed in a hex editor. It works using the MGBA core however.

Hello. I'm trying to build BizHawk on Linux Mint (Ubuntu derivative) with MonoDevelop, but when I load the .sln file it says that BizHawk.Client.ApiHawk has Unknown ToolsVersion '14.0' Why is this? I havent't run tried building yet, so I don't know if it'll affect the building process, but I'm curious as to why this is so, and if I can fix it. Change it to another version or something. EDIT: Never mind, I was using an old version of MonoDevelop from the ubuntu repository. Upgraded to a newer version and now I don't get that error any more...

Yes, try 10, it's a text file.

"is this" because it was added a few days ago by a windows programmer and hasnt been normalized by the unix programmer yet. the other csprojs use 4.0 as a simple grep will show you.

When using the --fullscreen parameter (or config>Customize>Start in Fullscreen), the game window is displayed in small size, so I can still see the desktop. The issue occurs on every system I have tested (NES, GBA, PSX), and on BizHawk 1.9.2 and later versions. BizHawk 1.9.1 and older versions work fine. DxDiag log if that helps.

I noticed some graphical glitches in Atari 2600 Dragster, and am thinking there might be an emulation bug First, the car starts in the wrong spot on the screen. Here is bizhawk: And here is another A2600 emulator PCAE 2.7: watching some youtube videos all also show the correct car position at start. Also, after a certain point on the screen the car breaks up into sections for some reason: This also doesn't happen in youtube videos or in the other emulator. Any help on this would be appreciated, if there is a setting I should be changing I surely can't find it. The pics were taken from bizhawk 1.11.4 as well. Finally, I've really noticed big improvements in Bizhawk since I first tried it about a year ago, keep up the great work development team!

I wasn't quite sure what to do with this so I'll post it here. While looking at some trace logs for NES ghosts 'n goblins at a particular glitch, I was trying to compare FCEUX and Bizhawk to see if there are any differences. I noticed that FCEUX sometimes hangs and Bizhawk (NESHawk core) always resets as the glitch occurs. I traced this down to how the emulators handle the opcode 02. It crashes FCEUX but Bizhawk manages to get by it and keeps on going: Bizhawk:

I don't know which is correct, all I can find is this nesdev article which says 02 should "Jam the machine" , leading me to believe FCEUX is correct: http://nesdev.com/6502_cpu.txt This only matters for things like ACE and such but it seems like an important distinction.

You can infinitely advance to the next track when listening to NSF files, progressing past the last song contained in the NSF file produces weird (yet interesting) results. Some of the weird stuff that can happen is the display displaying corrupt visuals/garbage and some tracks might be some of the songs with interesting changes applied to them like a added drum beat or channels missing etc.

I believe there is a bug with the Playstation Ridge Racer Bonus Turbo Mode Disc (USA) which was included as a bonuc disc with Ridge Racer 4. When you are at the main menu, you can start Ridge Racer 1 just fine, but if you press Up or Down to select any of the other modes (GunCon, Museum, Games, etc), the game will freeze. I tried the same image dump on epsxe and psxjin and it works fine.
