It'd be nice if there'd be a compilation of the Mother series for the Wii, Wii U, or/and 3DS. I'm a huge fan of the Mother/EarthBound series.

It would be great, but it's not very likely. Nintendo of America can't re-release EarthBound because there are several references to copyrighted material in the game, and they would face lawsuits if they released the game now. But they don't want to bother with the Mother series anyway because they don't think it will sell well.

I know about the legal issues. But if a compilation or a rerelease got released (I know it won't), I know it would sell well. *sigh* Oh well...

Oh yes, lots of people would love to buy a Wii/3DS compilation. It's too bad they don't seem to realize that.

I don't think compilations will happen because Mother 2 and 3 are terribly dated games. They might look cool and have some funny plot but their gameplay is boring as hell. That battle system is a joke.

It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

What's wrong with the battle system? It's simple yet it tells you everything you need to know. Mother 1's is definitely dated with the black background, but 2 and 3 have really nice colorful backgrounds that set the mood for the opponent you're fighting. It's a classic, visually pleasing design and I really like it. I haven't played any modern RPGs though, so I don't know what a "modern" battle system would look like.

And the backgrounds were trippy as heck too. I like the gameplay/battle system too!

Currently, Earthbound is one of the most expensive games on the SNES, for not being all that rare. I've got my copy that I never play, but man, that game is overpriced.

When did I ever say that? I just asked why you hated the battle system, since I don't see anything wrong with it.

I have a cart that I play and a mint copy that stays in the box with the guide and all the other original stuff that came with it (along with even the little power to the player ads or whatever they are). It cost me around $160 I think. I also have a scratch and sniff ad from Nintendo Power. EDIT: Holy shit, why is it so expensive now?! Are people actually paying $4,000 for it?

You're lucky getting EarthBound under about thousands of dollars.

Well, back when I bought it, that's about how much they were. Kinda wish I had stocked up now.

If you want to buy a copy, check either www.Starmen.net (Earthbound/Mother fan site) or www.digitpress.com

EarthBound is getting a rerelease for the Wii U. It's in the new Nintendo direct, the announcement made my day. :D

Don't get excited yet. Nintendo did this before. They put Earthbound through the ESRB for the Wii VC and it was NEVER released.

I don't think Nintendo would release an announcement that big on Nintendo Direct and their Facebook (even making fun of themselves in the process) and then back out. I still think the ESRB one was a mistake. But if they back out now? Imagine the backlash! It would be like every game petition multiplied by the hatred against EA.
