Game Discription

The Goonies II (グーニーズ2 フラッテリー最後の挑戦 Gūnīzu Tsū: Furatterī Saigo no Chōsen?, The Goonies II: The Fratellis' Last Stand) is an adventure game developed and published by Konami for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was released on March 18, 1987 in Japan, November 1987 in North America, and on December 19, 1988 in Europe. It is a sequel to the first Famicom Goonies game, which was only available in North America on Nintendo Vs. System and PlayChoice-10 arcade units. This led some people to believe that it was supposed to be a sequel to a first Goonies videogame that was widely released. The game's story centers on Mikey. His friends, the Goonies, have been kidnapped by the Fratellis, an Italian family of small-time crooks and counterfeiters. Mikey must rescue all six of his friends and free a captured mermaid named Annie who did not appear in the film.

About the run

In this run, there are big differents like change the route, there are another faster route.with this change i make this run improvement than the published run by 5800 frames(about 1m,38s)

Important information

Make sure to use the J version before play this movie because the version used is J

Tricks & Informations

1-Raison for use J version: If i use the J version i can save more frames than using the U version.Why?. In the doors, the informations writing is faster in the J version. For exemple:the first door, when i get the Hammer, the time for writing information is about 1 seconde but in the U version is about 2 secondes.By changing the version I save 800 frame (comparing with the nicovideo run)
2-Route Discription: I changed the route in order not to go for jumping shoes because going to do that much time is lost and the route that when I use the shoes is slightly slower than the used in this run.
3-Getting hit in the back by enemies: using this trick i can save 4 frames than jump over the enemies
4-Getting hit in the back by enemies+jump: using this trick i can save 4 frames in the jump too
5-Get the key holders from the enemies: to do that i need defeat 3 enemies
6-Speed jumping: the glitche is easy to do,it speed up the jump 2 more times normal speed
7-Run items
  • Glasses: Can display same secet doors
  • Hyper Shoes: this item can speed up walking.I found it in a secet door in the upward of orange cave
  • Bommerange: I use this for getting key holders by defeating the enemies
  • Diving Suit: With this item i can go to the sea
  • Key holders: Using this i can save the goonies
  • Ladder: using this item i can go to the up or down rooms
8-Change the route,speed tricks save 5000 frame

Thanks to:

  • The player on Nicovideo
  • Randil:for his great trick and his run
  • Walker Boh:for his knowledge about the route(maybe is slower)

Closing

Thank you for reading my submission. I guess this is all informations

This is all Comments

FractalFusion: Judging.
feos: HD encode.
FractalFusion: Accepting for publication as an improvement over the currently published run. Please note that this submission uses the J version.
feos: may I process it?
McBobX: Of course you can do to process it, but please before processing prepare a video recorder to record your desktop when you encode the run then upload it to Mediafire.Because I have problems with encoding.
I do not know to do so and please do not forget my request

I've watched this movie as well as the other Goonies 2 movies, and I can definitely say that this is a much better effort from McBobX, including the use of a new trick not present in any movie (including both nicovideo movies) so far to save over 20 seconds from the previous submission.

HD'ing finally then.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I haven't played the game in some 15 years, but do you have to save all of the Goonies or is Annie enough?

Third number is first number minus second number. Comparison due to use of death:
first death: 849 643 (206)
second death: 530 484 (46)
total: 252
Timings are from the first non-black screen upon entry into area where death occurs in this run, up to the first black screen after exit of same area. Otherwise, it is the same as above.

I'm sure you have to save all of the Goonies. Otherwise, someone would have made a run without saving them already. Also, an offhand statement at TVTropes seems to imply that they must be saved in order to beat the game.

Yeah I tried skipping the last Goonie and head straight to Annie but I couldn't unlock the final door. I have no idea what the error message was but there was something in a language I don't read.

I already uploaded it to youtube in highest resolution. Or what do you mean?

I enjoyed this; nice work! Even if I had relatively little idea what was going on at any time, the movement looked well-optimized and the environments were interesting.

He wants FractalFusion to either tell him how to make an encode or post a video of him setting up the emulator to record and encoding it.

Goonies never say die, and neither did McBobX. This is a good one. Adding another yes onto the pile.

But he did die! Twice! Once in the light orange cave right before the bridge and once in the second underwater area! Good thing dying is quick and causes funny warps.

I use almost totally automated setup for encoding. http://tasvideos.org/EncodingGuide/HybridEncodeScript.html#TasEncodingPackage The package allows you to encode in HD, but it uses the resolution that may seem too high for you. You can also do a native resolution encode to mp4 (512kb), but it can already be downloaded here: http://archive.org/download/McbobxsNesTheGoonies2In1507.69/goonies2-tas-mcbobx_512kb.mp4 Can you dump the avi from emulator at all? http://tasvideos.org/EncodingGuide/VideoDumping.html#FceuFceux

Please just give me the tips for encoding,For example:give me the tips for encoding this run from video dumping to muxing using Notepad or a video because I follow the tips for encoding with TASencoding Package but the script can't open with virtualdub

Post the screenshot of VD error you get. I don't know of any methods without virtualdub. Probably you have some outdated or broken version.

This is how I do my encoding stuff: 1) Install CamStudio lossless codec and VirtualDub. Also install x264, MP4Box, and NeroAACEnc if necessary. 2) Dump the movie using CamStudio (see video dumping page). 3) What I do at this stage is edit the video in VirtualDub using AviSynth. This is strictly not necessary but I like to patch the video. I encode the video with CamStudio again (doing this decreases the video size a lot, but it is still large). 4) Now if I want video even smaller, I encode the video using x264. This results in a very small video file (the audio is not taken) but it requires the most time to encode at this stage. 5) I save the audio in VirtualDub, and encode it using NeroAACEnc. Then I use MP4Box to put the audio and video together into an MP4 file. Because my encodes are usually intended to be uploaded to streaming sites like Youtube, I don't use Dedup. I'll give more information if necessary.
