  • Emulator used: Hourglass r81
  • in emulator used multimedia timer mode: asynchronous
note: without this option will not run the game in the emulator
  • Take damage to save time
  • Aims for fastest time
about the run: I'm going to start talking about the game that is short and simple and is bound to move the left and right and what is this run is to get the four skills that are:
  • j item: This item allows us to use the blue blocks to jump higher
  • 3 item: This item allows us to jump through walls
  • b item: This item allows us to break some specific blocks
  • arrow cannon item: This item allows us to use the blocks that have arrows that serve to propel us to the address you specify the block or to the left or right.
  • s item: This is the final item is obtained after the above that this serves to give us a key to be entered in the place where the game starts to get to the end of this game.
tricks and glitches used:
  • reverse jump through wall: this small speedtrick serves to jump up walls and back to where the jump took place and notice that we're pushing upward.
  • through the wall: I use this glitch before reaching the end of the game and to do it is to jump over the wall in a very narrow space in which will work through the wall.
note: it may work in other parts of the game.

turska: Judging.

turska: This run is 00:02.11 behind jlun2's WIP two minutes in. For a 5:29.83 run, that's quite notable and warrants rejection for not beating existing records.
Thevlackdemonn2294, while your run was rejected, I'd still like you to provide a DxDiag log as instructed here. It could help resolve sync issues with your potential future work with Hourglass, and also help if someone else happens to run into similar sync issues with Hourglass.

I have no clue what I just read, but since I was TASing this game, I'm going to check this run once I'm back home and see what can be improved.

Yeah, people with questionable English skills tend to write borderline gibberish. @Thevlackdemonn2294: Just post in whatever language you are more comfortable in, someone will drop by and translate it.

OK I always had problems with the English language because as you know this is not my native language and so I have to use a translator that even I think it is not good idea to use it but I have no choice about that.

I just tried watching this TAS, and it suddenly got desynced about at 3m 40s. Maybe because I'm using Windows 7? The game also didn't present any sound effect while watching TAS.

is possible that this is the problem that desync but I'm not sure why try to change the option to disabled multithreading so maybe not desync the TAS.

I checked the option you've suggested, but got desynced again. Maybe I should try this on Windows XP, but since I don't know how to use VM, I'll just wait someone else verifies it. Thanks for encode, anyway. Now let's move to other issue. Why doesn't it present any sounds? Actually this is crucial problem; there's even a precedent which was rejected for same reason.

on the sound of the game do not really understand because the emulator I encode the sound and also when he was making this TAS I did not play sound and do not understand the reason for that and I wonder if anyone knows how to fix that problem.

Why is the "arrow cannon item" required? You don't seem to need to use it after getting it.

I actually thought about that while doing this TAS can actually skip this item and did a test that but apparently this item must be collected in order to run the password of S item but if done arrowitem skipping the password can not be executed.

You have to obtain all the items to to be able to input the password at the beginning.

That's one of the reasons why I didn't pursue on this run and the Ao Oni one further; both cannot be encoded to have sound for some reason.

My home's internet is dead for the next 2 days, and the one I'm leeching off takes forever to load youtube. I'm going to see if I can playback the run.

I have no clue how the mechanics of this game works but it seems fairly easy to understand and it looked fairly optimized and entertaining. Consider this a yes vote.

This seemed interesting enough, but as a relatively unknown game it's important that the description include some information about how the game is played. In particular, what is the significance of the bomb blocks, and does the snow / rain / whatever have any effect on gameplay? Regarding the play, I'm not a huge fan of the bits where the camera was vibrated back and forth very quickly, but otherwise this seemed solid.

Finlly checked your run. Sorry, but it's really sub-optimal. For example, in my test run, I've managed to reach the first powerup 1 frame faster. And that was just a test run. Let me find my latest version and upload it here. Brb Edit: <removed> Inb4OPfinsihesmywiplol Edit2: I've improved it so stop mentioning it.

So....should this be rejected for not being the fastest it can be? It doesn't look quite optimized, and jlun2 has (somewhat) proven that it can be completed faster.

Same here. I am also using Windows 7. Also, there is no sound. Is there anyone who can help verify the movie? If so, can you also verify that jlun2's run is significantly faster? We might have to cancel this submission if it cannot be played back by enough members. (Please list all hourglass options and system so we can try to play it back as well.) Also, this game is really obscure. As in, there is only that homepage, and a few Nicovideo videos (each with very few views).

I uploaded a quick encode of jlun2's run. So jlun2's run collects that one red cube at frame 1512 (1:24 in the encode), while the OP collects it at at least 1522 (though it is off-screen). It looks more like 1524, but anyway, it's at least 10 frames slower than jlun2's. Then, the tables turn. While jlun2 takes the very long (intended) route over and around to the floating pairs of brown blocks, the OP bounces up there early by walljumping on the same wall multiple times. At the point he bounces on the first floating pair of brown blocks, he is exactly 256 frames ahead of jlun2. Then, by the time they both touch the gray cube at the end, he has gained 3 more frames on jlun2. So while jlun2 may be faster for half his WIP, his movie cannot be verified to be faster than the OP for the second half because of that big missed shortcut. Also, both movies ran fine up to the comparison point (I got a desync later on in OP's movie just like everyone else) on my Windows 7 64-bit computer with only changing Multimedia Timer Mode to Asynchronous.

I'll have a look at this, thanks! Btw, I can't go to youtube for 2 more days, so can you upload a screenshot of that intended long route? Edit: Found that part by watching the input file. The camera shakes far too much to be enjoyable. No vote and I'm off to correct this camera myself. Edit 2: The OP's movie desyncs like coolkirby. My system is: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3

this TAS doesn’t seem to take into consideration acceleration at all… unless there is no acceleration (it looks like there is), then this seems very sub-optimal to me but it doesn’t even matter because if sound can’t be encoded then the run can’t be published also I wasn’t very much entertained and the camera shakes give nausea

Ok, I've checked it out, and even that part where he did the major time saver wasn't optimized. By the time he reached the blue square at 2064, I'm already 38 frames ahead. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/6165117882081268

It's not exactly "acceleration"; it seems the ball's speed ia always at intervals of "2", with the highest being 10 and lowest being 4,294,967,286 under normal circumstances. Because you cannot stop bouncing, you have to adjust the speed to factor in where you need to land. Sometimes while making large turns, it's the same (or even faster) to be slightly further away from an edge so you can reach max speed sooner and stay at it longer.

Improvements found by expert TASers aren't a proof of sloppiness... unless they are found everywhere throughout the run!
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I have to agree that the camera shakes are annoying and hard to look at. And since the run isn't even optimized (improvements everywhere), I'm going to have to vote No. It would help if the desync issue was fixed too; not sure why the run only syncs for the OP.
