Mega Man Xtreme TAS 100% in 0:29:38 by McBobX

Goals

  • Takes damage to save time
  • Aims for fastest time possible
  • Luck Manipulation
  • 100% Completetion
  • Genre:Plateform

About the Run

This my first run for GBC console. I've watched FractalFusion's run and I like it.Then,I've dicided to make a 100 pecent run for this game because there aren't any publised run for this category yet. This run is just 2min and 4s slower than the Any percent run

Route Used

I use in this run a different route than the current run in order to collect all items without revisiting any stage for saving lot of time. Here is the route that do this:
  • Intro Stage
  • Storm Eagle(Sub Tank,Heart,Head Part)
  • Flam Stag(Heart,Body Part)
  • Magna Centiped(Heart,Sub Tank,Z4)
  • Chill Penguin(Foot Part,Heart)
  • Spark Mandrill(Sub Tank,Heart,Arm Part)
  • Armored Armadrillo(Sub Tank,Heart,Z1)
  • Wheel Gator(Z2,Heart)
  • Morph Moth(Heart,Z3)

Special Thanks to:

  • FractalFusion:for his run because it help me lot
  • Noxxa:for his run of the 2nd Megaman Xtreme

Enjoy with the 100% run

Noxxa: Judging.
FractalFusion: Replaced defective encode with Nicovideo one.
Noxxa: Delaying as the author is working on improvements.
McBobX: Replaced the Nicovideo segmented encode with a single-segment one

Noxxa: We haven't got any update or response from the author in several weeks. For now, rejecting this run due to being clearly suboptimal in certain areas. McBobX, if your improvement is done, please make a new submission.

I'm getting an error with this. VBA says this movie is not in proper .vbm format. Also, you don't have to end your comments with something like "Now you read all comments". It's fairly obvious when the comments are done. Maybe you would prefer to say something like "I hope you enjoy!" :-)
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:

Do you try to clear temp folder or delete gbatemp.sav file? Because I get the same error with the any run

McBobX: No, I have not done that. I don't think I've been required to do that for any movie before. I tried deleting my .sav file for the ROM, with no success. I couldn't find a file gbatemp.sav on my computer either.

Its sound is cut off starting at 18:45 (right before the start of the Geemel fight) and the video freezes at 20:12 (halfway through the Bospider fight). Just saying.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

This TAS is suboptimal in some places. - In Armadillo's stage, the autoscroll skip was not used in the two places they were used in my TAS. - Against Serges, after hitting him with charged Speed Burner, the TAS does not hit him with another Speed Burner on the way back before using Zero. It is hard to do but possible. - Against Flame Stag (rematch), when he has 6HP, the TAS uses a charged hit (which is slower) and normal hit, instead of just two normal hits. - Against Sigma, the TAS runs out of Electric Spark and has to switch to X Buster. This should not happen. E. Spark should not have been used in the previous hallway; Remote Mine (what X was armed with when he entered the area) should have been used.

Encode is now replaced with a proper one. See submission text for encode. McBobX: I think the final few bosses (from Serges onward) should be replaced with a more optimized version, at least.

McBobX, are you going to improve on this movie (using FractalFusion's listed improvements)?

McBobX, how is the improvement progressing?

Looks like it isn't.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

If it's taking too long, then I think this submission should be cancelled until the improvement is done.

Why not to have accepted it until somebody improves it? Super Mario Bros Deluxe was accepted.

It's too suboptimal to accept in its current state.
