"They" would be me. Keep in mind it is a work in progress, the software is kinda clunky and command-line only, the hardware requires being very careful with the connectors that are at the board end of the controller wire. If you are fine with this, I can probably work out something, I just need to figure out shipping to canadialand.

aaaaaannnnnnddd the main event is done but i get a mixed feeling about all of this, have the marathon crossed an uncanny line ? it's good that the million goal was reached but i have felt a "forced" effort more than a "common goal" also i thought that some of the challenges where far too high priced....

Sure, but think about it in terms of how many people were watching. Let's say 50000 people watched Halo 2 all the way through. 3000/50000 means that if everyone were to pay admission to watch legendary difficulty the fee would be 6 cents. The prices to meet incentive grow in step with the crowds at the venue and watching on twitch.

you're right but then for the CT Run who was around 10 Min , it means that the price was around 1000$/ min || and 10000/50000 = 0,2 cents where halo 2 was 0,06cents... and we didn't account the time ( 2h for halo / 10 Min for CT...) i'm ok if the prices rises but i don't find it normal that we manage double the total amount of money while there are still unmet goals. the price for the halo2 run WAS correct, legendary is a hard feat, it deserve it's money, the goal was almost not met, due to it's schelduring time + what i think as a "lack of hype"... a lot of the goals where "just sniped" right before the run, i seriously think that we were lucky to raise that much, next SGDQ WILL be far harder....

SGDQs always raise less money than their respective AGDQs - so expect that. AGDQ2015 though, I'm sure Uyama will shoot for 1.5 million. We'll see. It can't grow exponentially forever, but I think we still have room for growth.

I think this is as big as AGDQ can and should get. I sincerely hope that SDA sees this as well and doesn't try to make it even bigger by any means. The fact that many donation goals were not met should be a clear indication of this. I really think this was an amazing marathon and I'm proud that I was able to contribute towards it (by being a commentator on the German re-stream). I do have some problems with the event, but overall the positives easily outweigh them. I'll list them anyway: 1: The fact that they didn't care about Europe for even one of the more popular titles (e.g. popular worldwide). They didn't even put the PC blocks into a good timeslot, even though I'd say that Europe is generally more interested in PC gaming. 2: The whole thing is probably a bit too dependent on certain names, be it games or runners. It's just irritating to see the differences that specific names can make in terms of viewers and donations. The name "AGDQ" should be bigger than Zelda or Cosmo IMO. Regarding the German re-stream: The idea started spontaneously, but in the end it surpassed even the most optimistic expectations by a lot. We constantly were around 500 viewers, with peaks of up to 1500 (not counting raids from the French). Despite many technical problems, a limited amount of commentators that progressively got less sleep during the week and absolutely no experience in doing such a thing; we managed to entertain a lot of people and gain probably some thousands of extra dollars because of the hype. We improvised a lot and even started to offer exclusive prizes. I will never forget this week, even though I'm glad that I can return to a regular sleeping schedule ^^ And last but not least, big thanks to the French community! Without you, the German re-stream would have never even started in the first place. When the DDoS attack happened, I was truly disgusted that there are people out there, whose lives are this miserable that they need to attack a charity stream, but in the end this event brought the two communities together. Maybe we should say "thank you" to that stupid hacker kid, as it is responsible for the GERMENCH hype that generated a lot of donations. And now that I end this gigantic post, it's already a bit less time until AGDQ 2015. WITH HOVERBOARDS!

andypanther, F-Zero GX was on around Midnight my time. I really wanted to watch it. Majora's Mask started when I still at work I can't remember when Doom was scheduled, but I think I was at work as well. The ratio of Sega to Nintendo was horrible, if you ask me. Sonic R, SA:DX and Sonic '06 but plenty of Mario and Nintendo in general? The first TAS block was delayed due to Cave Story being over time. The second TAS block, crashed out before Legend of Zelda II could be shown. Still that Mario Kart 64 TAS (optimized or not) was well worth watch.
When TAS does Quake 1, SDA will declare war. The Prince doth arrive he doth please.

seriously, thank you for that and all what the german did durring the marathon and to be honest, expect the last 2 days and because of the constant rescheduling the euro zones had still had good runs (if you where not working of course :/ ) like the WTFJapan or awfull games dones quick... but it's true that we missed 3 big blocs : DCK / Castlevania / 2d zelda and the tasbot of course who also desynched my sleep schedule...

If you missed a block, you can watch it from the twitch archived. This thread has links to each game's run to make finding them more convenient. It's not the same as watching them live, but it's a heck of a lot better than nothing!

After a substantial delay, I finally have the address to send the raffle prize out to the winner. Here's their fabulous prize package: More pictures can be found in the album I used for this project. I'm sending the following: - The Serial #1 NES/SNES replay board from true with one assembled NES controller cable - The N64 board from micro500 with one assembled N64 controller cable - Spare pinheaders to make additional cables - The "upper" grey Lego assembly which ROB uses to hold the replay board, still in one piece - The not-as-pristine-as-I-had-hoped ROB - A new-in-box Raspberry Pi (256 MB rev 1 Model B) I had not originally intended to donate a Raspberry Pi, but honestly, I didn't need this extra one and I wanted to make the raffle prize a bit sweeter. I had purchased a ROB specifically to give away as the raffle prize but when it showed up it was not as pristine as it was advertised. After a bit of work I got ROB functioning smoothly and I used NOVUS to clean up the plastic with the only thing I couldn't easily fix being the "telephone cord" on the back that's a bit stretched out. Otherwise, I'm extremely happy with how everything turned out. To sweeten the pot even further, micro500 also donated his N64 bot that he used for the Mario Kart 64 verifications along with the cable. I'll pester micro500 to get the replay code for this. The only remaining hurdle is actually a fairly silly one - I need to find enough packing material to ensure that Rob doesn't show up with a broken neck. :) Thanks again to everyone for the support. I don't know when the next *GDQ event I'll attend will be but I plan to continue to participate in future marathons and I'll post in this thread at least one more time when the Triforce gauntlets raffle prize that my wife is knitting are ready to send out. The schematic for my old version was, I think. The PCB was not but you can get one from me, or get a kit with all the parts. Or you could build your own design and write your own code, just depends on what you want to do / accomplish.

Hey there, I would like to play TAS-Videos on a real console for entertaining. Are you comming from on of EU-Members? Because if not the there could be problems at the customs. So the shipping of parts could be difficult. Otherwise I am capable of reading schematics and programming µController. So I'd like to have the schematic and the working code to build my own tasbot for snes. Thank you in advance.

There are no problems with customs except that you may be required to pay toll. You could also declare it as a gift when shipping to reduce the chances of paying toll.
