I think a TAS of this would be cool, that is to people who understand the game and would entertained by just how much you can squeze. Basically seeing how good a score you could get. People who play Guitar Hero would find it entertaining. It would not aim for best time.

Seems kind of pointless because you can just parse the game files and generate a perfect tas without ever even running the game, with minimal effort.

As far as high scoring and comboing goes, there isn't anything you can do in a TAS that hasn't already been done RTA.

The Game does have a storyline... 100% Expert Mode?

I guess a run through of story mode, getting best possible score (upper bound squeezes) on each song could be interesting to those who know the game.

Warriors of Rock would be more engaging for the runner, at least. It has the whole quest mode, where you would have to decide which songs are shortest to get the required number of star points, racing to complete Quest mode while utilizing all the different Warrior skills. Still probably wouldn't be that entertaining to watch, though.

Duh.. What? How could you do that. (Don't know how to quote multiple stuff in 1 post) Patashu I disagree. I don't mean to be rude but that is just very wrong. Is the MKWii record the same on RTA? Infact there are many known improvements on guitar hero. Phenoh Yeah that's the idea. I agree. I bet ggamerman would find it interesting.

The required notes are all in a standard, well documented format. Converting it to button presses would be trivial.

Do you know what squeezes (and ticks) are?

Can you give an example of a GH3 song that is known to not be score-maxed in real time? I would have thought it would be 'trivial' (e.g. at worst a few frame perfect tricks per song) from my understanding. EDIT: Hmm, that's right, you need to hit every hold at the first (frame? tick?) too. That could get tedious.

I think every one has some improvement. Also there was some talk about some glitch that could reward you with extra ticks but I don't quite remember. I'll find a link later to a video or forum post.

Wouldn't this make the TAS fixed length? That makes it pretty much impossible to improve it.

Yes. Any competetant taser could easily make a perfectly optimal tas.

Not it. To whoever: Link to video I know that PS2, PS3 and xbox360 you can use a controller but what about Wii? do you need the nunchuck to do it? I mean NO GUITAR only controllers.

Obviously it wouldn't aim for fastest time. It is a rhythm game. (Also it says in OP).

Yes, you can use the controller without the nunchuck. Also http://www.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74160 There is the tick glitch that guy has shown videos and it is very hard but would be easier on TAS but because of how it works not straightforward completely (not just hit is on earliest frame). Also there is talk about whether other point glitches exist.

I'd be interested in a maximum score TAS on any songs you can beat the real time WR on.

I bet I could beat every RT score. I would like to try.

Through the Fire and Flames is the easiest example of where this would be possible. Unsure if you played guitar hero a lot back in the day, but squeezing (hitting notes early/late to get extra points during star power) was pretty much the thing that separated people at the top of the leaderboards. But specifically about TTFAF, there's a couple of squeezes that I'm pretty sure are basically impossible to do in realtime. I can't find a picture of the chart to show you what I mean, but you end up having to squeeze two extra notes at both the front and back-end of a 200 bpm triplet section, which is just insane. Most people tap those notes, so to activate there properly at all is considered good. That's in addition to hitting all the ticks on all the hold notes, not to mention you can glitch extra ticks sometimes, etc. That all said, a TAS of guitar hero would be really really boring to everyone except the people who got really into it. I'm talking about the no-lifers like me who got full game FCs and stuff. Nobody else would be able to appreciate it. I think the best thing you could do is a playaround, like unlock all the songs and play TTFAF and get near-max score with performance mode (can't see the note), maybe?

Does video calibration in gh affect scores the same way it does in rock band? I don't think you can set a negative calibration but... idk. I could see a tas for optimal scores in rock band changing the calibration between every single song. Wouldn't that make for a fun watch :p.

I know for certain it doesn't (thankfully), I had some friends back in the day that did challenges to FC songs like Mississippi Queen with max latency calibration settings, some of them FC'd with max score too.

Come to think of it I think there was a glitch where if you set the calibration to 200 you can et some more glitch ticks.

That's ok, not every TAS has to have popular appeal. That's what we have vault for (Also, subtitles could be added to the video highlighting every difficult trick and what the window for hitting it is like in frames) For each song, you could use a bot that knows what the chart looks like and hits every note frame perfect/scrounges every tick out of every hold, and then manually edit in the star power route/squeezes/any other score glitches. That would make producing the whole TAS pretty quick.
