BTG-Neo Turf Masters (japan ver. default settings) Australia course
  • Emulator used: fba-rr-v007
  • only eagle and albatross (including hole in one)
  • risky shots/situations - unusual/unexcepted routes
Big Tournament Golf is like his name says a golf simulation on neo.geo MVS system programed by NAZCA (metal slug...) (i think it the best old gen golf game ever)
holes commentary:
  1. one slice to get the on the fairway after bound...back spin
  2. nothing particular, the road was too far...back spin
  3. switch to driver for hit the slope with power
  4. slow speech skipping (luck manipulation to get optimal wind condition, luck manipulation to bound on the rock (i never get it another way, bounce in water*N)...distance gain (up during low/nice/high shot selection)
  5. one slice to get the on the fairway after bound...backspin to get the optimal bound
  6. going to bunker for fun (possible IMPROVEMENT- hole in one with optimal wind condition)
  7. one hook to bounce off the rock to another rock then fairway...backspin to get the optimal bound
  8. back spin for stop the ball on the slope
  9. one hook to get the on the fairway...back spin
  10. bounce off the rock to get on the green (possible IMPROVEMENT- hole in one with optimal wind condition/maybe possible- bounce off the rock to the hole, directly?)
  11. one hook to bounce off the road...distance gain
  12. perfect shot
  13. bounce off the the rock to get the fairway...pefect shot
  14. bounce off the rock directly to the hole
  15. optimal wind condition to break the distance...perfect lucky shot
  16. bounce off the road to the hole (possible IMPROVEMENT- bounce off the rock to the hole, directly?)
  17. nothing particular...use the leafs to decrease shot power
  18. two slice to bounce off the road to the fairway...nothing particular
Score : -41 (possible IMPROVEMENT -43)
Well this is my first Tas run and i'm pretty ok with it regarding to my Tas skills, now i know i loose some frame on starting and character/course selection, and i still can improve it to -43 ^^

To replay the movie in an emulator, you would need the file neogeo.zip in the emulator folder, and to set the BIOS to "MVS Japan" in the DIP switches menu (available through the Input menu after the game is loaded).

feos: Judging...
feos: Changing the branch to "maximum score", since it is one of the movie's goals, and it suits it more, looking at what playarounds usually have to offer.
feos: Updating the submission with a properly stopped movie. And accepting. And publishing...

Can anyone or the author can verify if they can manage to get the movie to sync. It desyncs on Hole 4 where Robert Randolf misses a lot of shots on this course and the ones after. Eventually losing all his chances and going back to the attract mode for the rest of the movie.

Several holes in question: Couldn't the ball just roll in, instead of getting backspin or was it too much speed? - Through the Movie you are skipping Hole previews but at #4,8 & 12 you don't. Is this due to input lag?

Going over water I assume and bouncing of rocks so not a branch IMO. Edit: Derp, it's actually the course. Australia - Tricky. So this basically is the "Hardest Difficulty" tag. But yea, ditch that branch in the water.

Overall seems like a decent vault choice btw author you can end the movie earlier on the last input. You don't need to input your initials if the game will do it anyways.

in certain circumstance backspin is better for get the ball inside the hole (and for entertainment) for the non skip for hole12, it is due to luck manipulation for the wind. the two other can't be skipped during speech cooljay : ok it's save

So a few questions.. Why the Japanese BIOS? Almost everything is in English anyway and it doesn't seem to save much time as it is. Why choose "The Shot Maker"? Could you not have made an equally impressive run with a sub-optimal character? I presume the difficulty levels, as configured in the BIOS, do nothing for this title? Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

This TAS is good, I don't think branch is necessary. I'll give it a Yes Vote towards the Moons, it isn't Star quality and defiantly not a contender for the Vault. It's entertaining at it's own level is where I'm getting at.

sorry dudes but i really don't get the word "branch" ^^' ...branch of a tree lol(in french), and i take 30min to understand what "moon" is about haha, my english is very bad mr. kelly : the bios is because i prefer the japanese name for the game i choose him because he is THE man, he can drive longdistance like the brazilian, have strong variety of clubs...and the shot jauge is very friendly i think you can make it with the brazilian but i will be very hard for each second shot to get in the hole....and i think the parcours-course is "generate-drawn" for this german golfer, i mean only him (and the brazilian) can win distance contest for sure and reach uncommon place like rock or road, but unlike the brazilian he got skills on the fairway, not just power

_____________________ "Branch" has a meaning close to "category" (although there are Categories also on TASVideos) and means the goal of your video. Here we are talking about the branch of your TAS, as [insert content from feos's link]. A Vault run is kinda meh, only a few branches are allowed for Vault. A Moon run is an entertaining one, every branch are allowed in it. A Star run, well that's the Holy Grail, the creme de la creme. Looks like your goal is incompatible with Vault, so you have to succeed in Moon for your run to be published.

In short, a "branch" in this context means the same as "alternative category". It's alternative to the default category, which is the fastest "world record" completion of the game (and which according to recent policy is an unnamed "branch".) (Note that not every game can have a default "fastest completion" main category, if the game is such that speed completion makes no sense. In that case it's ok to have named branches only.) "Moon" is one of the three publication tiers. "Vault" is where every submission (that doesn't break site rules) of "fastest completion" and "fastest 100% completion" go regardless of quality or entertainment (unless they are deemed "moon-worthy".) "Moon" is the tier for alternative branches that are deemed good enough for publication. Also well-received "fastest completion" and "fastest 100% completion" submissions can go there. "Star" is a limited collection of representative Moon runs that showcase the art of tool-assisted speedrunning. (Every starred run doesn't necessarily have to be a top-rated run, although many of them tend to be.)

If this is just intended as fastest completion, remove the branch name entierely.

________ How it is a goal? Here a lot of questions to help you redefine your goal: could you have been faster while using more hits? Your "get strikes or 2 or 3 hits under the estimate" was the fastest way anyway? Did you do more levels than required to get to the credits? another cup was faster? Could we resume your goal as "use as less hits as possible" for newbies of golf?

Spectacular. I don't usually like golf much, but I found this really entertaining. I loved every time the shot looks like it goes over the water and then bounces off a little rock to stay on the fairway. Some of the backspin is also really funny. I was amused to see that Baxter was the second-place finisher. Yes vote and a recommendation for Moons.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run.
