nitsuja, can you so kindly... STOP EDITTING YOUR POSTS SO OFTEN! We're sitting here in the chatroom seeing every single edit and it's driving us insane. Mass Edits/Redos are for time attacks, not forums. On a finer note though, I do look forward to checking this out. OOTW was one of my fave games in the day. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

OK sorry I didn't realize that happened, I'll edit less often.

I've seen people get complained at for posting multiple messages in a row instead of editing the first to contain the later ones, is partly why.

Well, it's not so bad to edit to add information, but when it's something like editing spelling mistakes one word at a time one could make use of the "Preview" button.

That's not any better. Try saying everything you need to say at once, not over a time of fifteen minutes. If you make a typo, that's fine. But try to post/edit less, with more planning into each one you do make.

I feel the need to post here as well just to make you feel even worse. And to invite you to the irc channel #nesvideos, on the irc server irc.enterthegame.com Be there or be queer!

Oh, uh, sorry, I was busy fixing up the run. Hex editing it was harder than I thought it'd be, what with the almost-random lag and timing changes, but it's 7 seconds faster now. Unfortunately I had to take out 2 of the bugs since one (dying at water) one was a bit slower, and the other (buddy dying to save me) I couldn't reproduce but found something faster. http://www.filespace.org/nitsuja/ootw-v2.smv (again: must use Snes9X 1.43 WIP1, Sound->Playback Rate->No Sound must be set, and the ROM is "Out of This World (U)".)

This video has it all - action, glitches, and a story which keeps me interested. Too bad about the sound...

:S I downloaded 1.43 WIP 1, set sound to "no sound", loaded the us rom and played the movie. then after your swing away from the beast at the start, you keep hopping instead of leaping, and you die :S what could i have possibly done wrong?

Did you also turn off volume envelope height reading? It was specified in a later message that this was also necessary.

Oh shit, didn't saw that. Yeah, it worked fine now, and finished watching the run. I enjoyed watching it a lot! I always liked the game, but the game was too hard and complicated for me back in the days. But now i've seen the whole thing. :) Too bad about the sound indeed, but nice work anyway.

I just longplayed this game and got the urge to try TASing it, because when I watch the published run I see a lot of improvements, well it is from 2005 :P * Around frame 40170 nitsuja shoots a guard, but doesn't get rid of the corpse. The friendly alien will only run when the corpse is gone so you should shoot the corpse so you can reach the cover faster. * In the room at frame 44702, nitsuja pulls the lever and then heads down the chute. You can actually skip pulling the lever because you can quickly make a shield and then kill the guard that would be there. I'm not sure if this would save time. *Sometimes when nitsuja has to wait, he jumps around and doesn't kill the guards that come into the room until later (Around Frame 37995). Maybe killing the guards early could reduce lag. *When Lester is trapped in the cage with the alien (frame 7636) you can just hold Left+Right and that might cause the cage to fall faster, I don't know. (EDIT: It doesn't :P) *Around frame 29900, when the guard picks Lester up, nitsuja just seems to mash the "A" button. Perhaps maybe a frame precise "A" button press could do a faster kick. *I don't understand the hesitation to kill the guard at frame 43264. *The movement could be probably better optimized. That's all the improvements I could think of for now. Maybe when I TAS the game, I'd find more...

Meh, too slow. You not even beat old and out of date NitroGenesis run. http://tasvideos.org/1936M.html
I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Current projects: NES: Tetris "fastest 999999" (improvement, with r57shell) Genesis: Adventures of Batman & Robin (with Truncated); Pocahontas; Comix Zone (improvement); Mickey Mania (improvement); RoboCop versus The Terminator (improvement); Gargoyles (with feos)

I guess it's because it uses the PAL version which should be slower than NTSC. Why did you chose to do this on the PAL version?
I problably made mistakes, sorry for my bad English, I'm French :v

Hi! 'can pick the gun with the foot. Did you guys know that? Lol, weird. I don't know if it saves time with any frame, but if nothing else, it looks funny. Then I try to find out if one can run through the wall in many more places, and if possible, how much time can be saved, if any at all. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/63269064086377669 Moderator edit: I moved your post here.
