Well, I have more important things to do than to study a game right now. My big knowledge of the games I know is because I studied them automatical while playing in the childness. I make game-movies only to share this knowledge (mostly RPGs with many secrets of course).
Not really :-( this is one of this big games I haven't played that often to know all strategies.
I think I will generally avoid tool assisted RPGs in the future since Secret of Evermore took me almost 1/2 year already to optimize it and its just to long.
Aww. I wish you could at least convert all of your Video game movies into Avi format or something Saturn-Chan.
They'd be easier for me to view, since I'd be able to go to a spot I've been to previously, and be able to find where I left off easier. ;3
But EarthBound is indeed quite a long game. And a completely low level run would probably not be completely possible.
I have problems with Giygas(Or however the name is spelled.) at Level99 in the game, so..
Just take a few big bottle rockets, and the multi bottle rockets if you have found them. Thats what i use, and even at level 36, i can beat the game without very much trouble. Use the multi bottle rocket right away on picky, should kill him, then the next 2 parts, pummel him with starstorm and big bottle rockets, the pray for the 4th part, but i know its easier said than done.
That factors in money and fighting battles that may be unneccesary. The only way I can think of to make a huge amount of money for rockets quickly would be manipulating drops from enemies.
Some drops are very valuable and should fund a rather nice supply in just a couple fights. That would minimize time lost and hopefully pay off.
Meteornium for example sells for 1k.
Plain Crocodile - 1/128
Smilin' Sphere- 1/128
Spinning Robo- 1/64
You'll pass by a decent amount of those through the game normally and could easily manipulate several more. That would help fund some better armor earlier
Meteotite sells for 2k. You get it later in the game.
Big Pile of Puke - 1/64
Evil Eye - 1/16
Hyper Spinning Robo - 1/128
Mechanical Octobot - 1/128
Military Octobot - 1/128
Soul Consuming Flame - 1/64
Whirling Robo - 1/128
Multi bottle rocket cost $2139 a piece. And can only be bought in a few places.
Guy with Camel - Southern Scaraba
Arms Dealer - northeast Deep Darkness
But, thankfully, you can get them from battles too. That would seem, to me, the best way to get them.
Even Slimier Little Pile 1/32
Wild 'n Wooly Shambler 1/16
Wooly Shambler 1/64
I agree they will be needed and a few late game battles might help. Since money is going to be used up in other ways (weapons and skip sandwich (DX)).
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.
Meteotite can also be found on a Spinning Robo. I've found a piece on one of them before. ^.~
Don't know what I did to find it, but it dropped.
You never really can tell what enemy is going to drop what in this game half the time. :3
Actually I think there is a minor difference: in Snes9x you have to pause first to use frame advance, which is optional in VBA. Besides that I made sure the VBA one behaves exactly like the Snes9x one, but I didn't program the frame advance (or much of anything) of Snes9x. (BTW, the thing that makes FCEU most difficult for me to use now is the way its frame advance doesn't repeat after a delay when held.)
Anyway... I've played through Terranigma and would also like to see a run of it... I never got more than 15 minutes into Earthbound but I've heard so many good things about it lately that I'm starting to regret that and would probably find a movie on it interesting even if I'm too lazy to play it myself...
I hope they port this game to the GBA, and give to us in ENglish unlike the original!
But, you should play it, hehe, it's a lot of fun. I've beaten it several times.
>... in Snes9x you have to pause first to use frame advance ...
Actually, you don't. I sometimes press it accidentally because it's next to the rest of my gamepad keys.
I just went to GameFAQs and requested that someone takes this speed run. If I don't get modded for site advertising (that would amaze me) hopefully someone will decide to do it.
EDIT: If you want to help my topic (and thus help the chances of getting somebody interested) by saying some nice words here's the link.

Looks like we're bound to get a person to do a TAS of this game sooner or later by the looks of the Gamefaq board. ;3
I'd do it, but I don't know the game well enough, but I've thought about playing it through a couple of times. Planning to play it through as a minimal level run, without buying Skip Sandwiches.
I can't remember what Level I beat the game at the very first time I played, but that was definately a Minimal Level run, haha. xD
I'm no expert at the game, so I don't know how to manipulate battles, but I think that would make too much work. Well, with any luck, I might be able to do a run. ;3
Thats kool dude. If its any help, i have an video rpg walkthrough thing that could help you find good paths and stuff. but i cheated, with money. so its just good for mapping out a run, not for what places are good for perchacing what and stuff. I think it shows all the secrets and stuff too but i am not sure. Anyways, just let me know if it would be helpful.
Afraid I won't be doing the tas after all everyone.
I just don't have the patience, it's too big of an undertaking when I don't know anything about how to manipulate it.
I can't even get passed those damn Mice and Black Antoids cause they do so much damage.
And I don't know if I actually have the time to put the actual effort into doing it. Well, I probably do, but..A Low Level run might be rather impossible for me to do without luck manipulation, and I probably wouldn't like doing it.
Well, anyway, just letting you all know..
Hmm, what pages exactly?
If I find it somewhat easy to do, I will probably do it.
I'll run through the game a few times without Skip Sandwiches of course, since I remember them costing quite a bit. So I'd have to fight a lot just to afford them.
But, anyway, let me know what pages, if they help me, I'll definastely play. ;3
I discovered a "trick" while playing the game normally.
In Deep Darkness (the swamp place), you should use PSI Teleport A to move. It goes really really fast through the place. It definetly copes for the frames "lost" with the wipeout animation.
Those were my two cents.
True, but in a Low Level run, I may not have the Psychic Points to keep going. Unless I take the time to get the Magic Truffles scattered through Deep Darkness. Or find a way to manipulate luck to get enemies to drop PSI Caramel or Magic Tarts.
Then I would also have to run into something to stop and keep from teleporting to the place specified. So most of the frames saved would be lost anyway.
I think by the time I got to Deep Darkness, I'd have a large supply of Skip Sandwich DX if I chose to buy them.
Plus, Ness' PP would be needed for battles to get through them quickly, for his PSI attacks, since they can deal good damage.
That, and I plan to stock Jeff up on Multi-Bottle Rockets, if I have enough cash.
I may try using that teleport idea though. ;3
