Can you also remove the left+right and up+down restriction since we can do this on the original. Right now, when pressing left+right, only left is working. Up for up+down.

Oh, and why does Mario Land play with no sound at all in this version, yet its sound works fine in previous versions of VBA? This is really weird.
Yes there's no sound and strangely, when we got a star, Mario is not invincible. It appears the music must start to activate the invinciblity. But no sound=no invinciblity. [Edit] Well, there's some other games that doesn't have sound. Bionic Commando Elite forces on GBC is an example.

I just thought I`d write to say that Alpha 2 is ready. All I need someone to host it as I`m on the worst connection ever :) Okay a list of features: Alpha 2: -Throttle work wonderfully so does the +/- to toggle the throttle by ammounts of 5% -Next frame now works on gameboy games. Improvements / Bug fixes: - Added the much wanted Record from restart option. - Changed the movie format to "*.vbv" to stand for visual boy video. - Changed the movie format to become easier to hex-edit. Every four bytes now correspond to a frame. - Fixed the odd sound bug in mario land. - Removed the need for Temp file. Any game bugs or any problems please post in this forum or email me and I`ll fix ASAP. Shanedudddy2

There's an annoying sound when using frame advance. Can you fix that?

Now attempting to play movies causes VisualBoyAdvance to crash on my computer! This isn't an improvement!

When the emu is paused and the windows is reduced and decided to expand that window, it just unpause automatically. Even if it's not your fault, can you correct that also? Is it possible to have only 1 file for movie. Right now, it creates 2 files when recording.

Well for me the throttle works fine, as does the frame advance. I tested this on Metroid Fusion. However the sound in slowmotion seems to echo, so if you just and shoot alot it just sounds like a bunch of echoey garbage. Also it would be nice if there was either no sound on frame advance, or the sound for the frame was played only once. As it is now it plays in a loop which is very annoying. I know get the same problem as Bag of Magic Food; when I try to play back a movie the emulator crashs. TheAxeMan gets this problem too. Another bug: Trying to record a movie when there is no game loaded crashes the emulator. Currently "Frame Skip" affects the Throttle and Frame Advance, this is the reason Phil is only getting frames every so many frames. It would be nice for this to be fixed, or atleast for it to be turned off by default. I'm guessing that setting it to Automatic does this too, but I cannot confirm it. Can someone try to confirm this?

Hmm I had no problem playing back movies which are recorded in the emulator, my guess would be that the movie your playing back was not created in the Alpha 2, as the readme said I changed the file format so it could be easily hex-edited. The sound does sound a bit echoed but should go away if you change the option emulate->syncronize to unticked. I will look into the sound in frame advance and you can expect it too be fixed in the next release Shanedudddy2

No, movie recorded by alpha 2 cannot be played by alpha 2. Everybody got this problem apparently.

I haven't tested this new version out just yet, but it sounds like all the major issues have been fixed and only non-critical things like annoying sound on frame advance (my workaround: save a state, that stops it from looping) remain. If that's the case (that runs can be made from restart and without desync, and frame advance and throttle are fixed) then maybe it's time for some GB/GBA forums... (edit: oh, didn't read Phil's last post, obviously if it crashes on playback that still needs to be fixed, I'll test it tonight and see if it crashes for me too.)

I tested this on the last version at least, and Automatic alone (even with frame skip = 0) did cause frame advance to skip displaying (a lot of) frames. I don't think turning Automatic off by default would be good, since it's designed as the default setting (although personally I think it skips too many frames compared to how much the computer can really handle), but having frame advance force-draw the frame seems like a reasonable solution.

For me it actually crashes the program. I'll upload the files I used if you'd like.

I can't assign Ctrl, ALt or Shift keys when remapping keys. Personally, I think it's a major bug because I need those keys. Btw, "Accelerator editor", can you rename that window, I don't understand why it's named like that. I know it's not your fault ;)

I'm still hoping that save/load/speed toggle can be changed to go under the Options -> Joypad -> Configure Menu :x Gens spoiled me, though. :/

Nice, but I'm still finding ways to crash it! Try recording a movie for a Game Boy Color game, then playing it while the game is loaded with regular Game Boy or Super Game Boy. It crashed on me. Also, when I record a movie of Pocket Bomberman, the game freezes after about half a minute. This only happens when I record, though.

I found a bug to make VBA to crash. When trying to record an AVI over an AVI that already exist and is opened by an other software, VBA crashes.

And rerecording still doesn't work. Or maybe it does work, but only for Game Boy Advance, and I wouldn't know because I have no clue how to get Game Boy Advance ROMs.

So you're using just the regular Ctrl-S and Ctrl-L? Hmm, what games have you tried?

That could be your problem then Bag of Magic Food Ctrl + s/l do load and save the game, but not save states. To use save states the shortcut is shift F1-F10 and to load the state just hit whichever button state you want to load eg. F1 - F10. umm I hope that made some sense :) Shanedudddy2
